Aww huge hugs to you AOT - I too agree with Elona, he's probably kicking off at you precisely because you did such a great job of looking after and raising him - kids (even grown ones) hit out at those they know they are safe to do that with. Hoping it all comes right, in the meantime be kind to yourself and keep in touch on here - X

Been reading but not posting for a few days as been trying to get the essay finished that I got an extension for due to the chicken pox a couple of weeks ago. So big hugs to anyone else who needs or wants one, I know there have been some tough moments but I do apologise that I can't quite be sure who and don't want to offend by mixing anyone else up.

We had a very exciting morning yesterday with DD - she had the initial assessment for a communication device and she took to it like a duck to water - she was so funny (and kind of sad really) repeatedly pressing the 'listen' button asking us all to listen to her and when others were talking she found the button which said 'turn the volume up'!! She was already finding and stringing together up to 3 words, the rep and the speech therapist were amazed and her TA was so stunned, she had clearly never seen DD in that light and hadn't really understood how much is in there that needs to come out. DD is going to get loaner for 3 weeks in Jan for a full assessment and then SALT will apply for funding for her very own but we are looking at April at the earliest - so great news that it is happening but so frustrating that it is going to take so long.

Started the big clean before Christmas today, got half way round the kitchen so going back to that once I've finished my lunch.

    Take care all - X

Hi everyone, having the most pants day ever. I had the delightful job of booking the car for its mot. Needless to say it failed, and that's where the problem starts. One of the alloy wheels had a dint in it, and on closer inspection it has a crack so new one required as non repairable. It needs 2 trackrod ends and they are something to do with the steering and a fuel line. The mechanic smiled and said approx. 195 plus vat without the wheel.

Had a cry with my mum, and took the car to DD fianc!. He is sorting it for about £100 but the wheel rim is extra. Even he was shocked at the price.

OH doesn't know the extent of the problems, best not to say until he can sit down.

Another problem, silly really I broke a nail but it is so short it hurts. Just feeling sorry for myself today.

We have a very high winds here, the trees are loosing their last remainding leaves and quite a few branches along the way too. I have the heating on low, but it will be going off soon.

I too saw the voucher in the express for aldi, it has to be used by Wednesday so will go next week and use it. Today we used the last of the mirror vouchers. I was served by the manager, he was laughing as he said thankfully this is the last day. I told him no there is another one in the paper today, he just said I bet you have it don't you. They know me so well!!!!

I hope everyone is safe during the windy weather, just been to check on elderly neighbour - she is ok.

    Take care toughies....

  • Hi All,

AOT, big hugs. There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been said, but you're in my thoughts.

Its been very windy here, struggled just walking to and from the train today. Trains were also pretty disrupted.

Thanks to whoever mentioned the Ald! voucher. I've asked OH to pick up the paper on his way home. We wouldn't normally buy any of these papers and I don't follow any deals forums so its nice when people share.

I've prepped for tomorrow, did it in record time I think, so will try to find something to clean for a bit. The house is very cold today, not sure why, so it will help if I get moving.

I bought my paper in a mini mr t and I mentioned to my mum, well we will save £4.50 (£5 less paper cost) and the sales assistant laughed. Well if you use 2 vouchers everymonth, I do, that is £120 saved I a year. On top of that the % vouchers and the pence that some items are cheaper by. Well it all adds up.

I use to shop in mr t a lot, but when you compare some of the prices - eg tomatoe sauce 85- aldi and £2 nearly in mr t for us as a family its a no brainer.

Went out for extra milk, bread and some veg and got details of local butcher's special deals for Christmas.

Very windy and my coat hood kept blowing off meaning my ears and neck got cold. Have had this coat for two years and kept thinking wish I could fasten the hood  After a bit of fiddling with the hood I eventually found two toggles which fastened it securely :o

Got DH a ham hock so I can make a big pot of pea and ham soup tomorrow (his favourite) and also some pork steaks I can braise in gravy with mash and veg tomorrow night. Must remember to order family packs from butcher more often as it saves so much money.

Home made cauli and broccoli cheese is in oven with the salmon wellington for tonight so I can sit down in peace and browse on here.

  • Evening all.

Spent the day just doing little bits & bobs. I’m emotionally, mentally & physically drained. Thank you all for your positive replies. I’m sometimes worried that I’ll bring the thread down & don’t want to burden you all with my problems.

AOT huge hugs chicken. I cant say anything that other’s haven’t already said. I do think us kids take a lot out on our parents knowing that bottom line, You’ll still be there regardless. Doesn’t make it right, I know, But maybe keep that in mind? Xx

We have been lucky recently with reduced items too. COOP we managed to get a pasta pot 44p, Victoria sponge lunch snacks x2, 25p , A vanilla cheesecake 77p and sausage & bean slice 30p. Should have been £11.47 worth of goodies for £2.01 Normally we wouldn’t have any of these items, But, Maybe a change having some sweet treats for puds.

Got to pop to the local store in a little while. So hoping to get a few more too.

I have managed to write our last shopping list for this year. Sounds strange saying year as I can’t believe just how quickly its gone.

Nutty, I understand and appreciate the aldi vouchers too. I have recently been slightly disappointed with the MOC % off. Do you happen to know when this months are? Surely not boxing day? xx

AOT I feel your sadness through your post. I'm wishing you a more bearable day tomorrow. Hugs to you our dear friend.

Excellent for little stiltwalker. I do wish I could meet your little ones. I imagine I'd brim with adoration from ear to ear.

Sheila it sounds scary. I hope you get through the night unscathed. My mam has lost her electricity up north and they have had snow. Nothing too bad here. Stay save everyone effected.

I promised myself I would take up my bedroom curtains this evening but I can't at all be bothered... so I'm not :p I wish I didn't have to take them up but they drape over the electric panel heater and that means its out of use.

Made small steps with getting an electrician arranged to check the night storage so fingers crossed it won't be long.

I learn about using the hoist and slip sheets tomorrow at my training along with rolling patients. I get my uniform tomorrow too. The experienced lady was much more relaxed today which meant we could get on really well. I enjoyed her company today :)
