    Morning all

Hope everyone is ok, no power loss and floods? My lovely tree that was full of golden leaves before I left yesterday morning is now a twiggy tangle and the leaves are having a good whirl around the garden.

Spent the afternoon and evening in London with DD1, my belated 40th birthday trip. We had a fab time, very Christmassy. Managed to visit 2 big Christmas markets, eat churros with lovely dipping chocolate, hot roasted chestnuts and have a sneaky ice shot in an ice palace (like you do). Topped off with a great visit to the Hammersmith Apollo. The train journey home was slow and tiring and we fell into bed at 1am....it will catch up with me today.

My lovely Inlaws came to keep DH company until DD2 got home so he was safe and entertained (and I didn't need to worry about him having fallen and being unable to get up).

Stilty - DDs communication device sounds amazing, hope you don't have to wait to long for one.

Pennib - lovely to see you :)

Fuddle - glad the training is going well, a friend of mine is doing a similar job but with only half hour slots, she finds it so rewarding (and very hardwork) and feels she's finally found her vocation in life. She adores all of her "clients" and often pops back in her own time for a cuppa with some tht she feels need a little extra company.

  • Morning all.

Feeling a little more positive again this morning. Think tiredness & stress isn’t helping. Guess the medication is doing its job so only time will tell I suppose.

Fuddle, Hope the work / training is going well. X

Nuttyp, Thanks, I understand where your coming from, I suppose by knowing some of your story I feel bad whining on. Because reality is, there is others who have it worse than me. I do feel like my problems are nothing compare to some. x

MRSLW. Thank you for the PM. I means a lot when someone takes time away from their own busy life to assist another. Your fab! X

AOT. Hope your feeling a little better now honey, x

I’ve decided that I’m defrosting my freezer this morning and steaming the fridge whilst I’m at it. This time I remembered to put a towel under the fridge unit, Because last time I done it I managed to flood the kitchen!
I’m also planning on cleaning the oven too.

I have to say this year the sellers on the world of bay have been wonderful & its been a delight buying from many of them. They have contacted me, Asking me to confirm whether items have arrived / Do I require P.O.P, ect. Refreshing.

Anyways, Off for a cuppa so I can defrost after getting the food out the freezer. Speak soon & stay safe all x

Glad things seem a bit better this morning Princess. I've avoided ebay this christmas (mostly) and have bought and sold on my local facebook page, and it has been (mostly) an absolute pleasure.
Mar and everyone else where the weather was freaky, hope you're all OK and there wasn't much damage. I feel for the poor people who were flooded and evacuated, definitely not a nice start to the festive season.
I have a spare 5 minutes now so I'm off to search for how to make your own dog food since my new/old dog appears to not want to eat bought dog food. I suspect her elderly owner may have fed her on human food which may account for her teeth being so bad.

wow! thats such an amazing experience, well done miss stilty!

Have you heard of cerebra stiltwalker?
    http://www.cerebra.org.uk/English/Pages/home.aspx

They are a charity which deal with children with neurological conditions so from dyslexia through to autism, epilepsy all sorts. I've met a couple a people from the organisation and they are fantastic lovely people. One of them is from near Newcastle and she is hilarious. They offer grants for specialist equipment.
Never know they might pay for something for her and ds. I'm about to apply for assistance for a laptop for ds2 to help with his. His joints are getting worse so writing is becoming harder for him.

Just for mse prupsoes i do not work for them and i met the people from cerebra at an information day and a makaton workshop. Links are purely for information purposes

Oh and i'm not sure if these are relevant The Joseph Patrick Trust (JPT) they provide grants for wheelchairs to x

sent you a pm princess xx

Its been crazy here with the tidal surge, power went off in town centre. Literally a half a mile away from ds2 school everywhere was flooded around the college. Luckily our power stayed on at the school and nothing untoward happened.
Quite scary really as the inland dock is quite high and tidal must have had to rise at least 12ft to full come over, so the force must have been tremendous.
Redcar, Saltburn and all the north east coast were flooded, Whitby was pretty badly hit and they harbour is pretty bloody high to!

Unfortunately two of my friends parents had to evacuated as they homes flooded so ended up in a nearby town.

We got back, had a few scary moments but nothing to bad.

I know its sounds really selfish but i'm actually glad we moved, because now we are about 3 miles away and only have becks around us rather than the river. They full but at least its a only a bit of surge rather than the full whack.

DS1 and 2 are gutted as they thought they schools would be closed, was so funny seeing they faces :rotfl: Wish i had for ds1's hahaha

Princess honey you have me so much its unreal, you are a very valuable and wanted member of the group. lots of hugs honey xxx

pooky wow a ice palace, what a lovely birthday!

Aot: so sorry, have lots of hugs , i agree with elona. I don't think they realise how much words can hurt. I honestly believe ds was lashing out at you because he feels safe and he knows no matter what you'll be there for him. even if you had went you still would have revcieved back lash. So please don't feel bad, have a rest, put your feet up and watch a rubbish film and try to relax and forget about everything.
You know what they say, we hurt the ones love the most as they are our lights shining brightest in the darkest days.

I'm still in shock about nelson mandela, such a an amazing man who accomplished so much.

But what pee'd me off about the news is that it kept going on about the south and nothing was mentioned about the north east!
Honestly its ridiculous, its like anything above lincilnshire doesn't exist .
  • Hi everyone :) Thinking of anyone who has suffered with the weather. We are okay here but my goodness the pictures on television were scarey.
Sad to hear of Mr Mandela's passing. Wonderful man, bless him. My dh and I saw the film Invictus at the cinema some time ago, (Morgan Freeman had acted him) and I went online later next day and looked up the poem Invictus copied it out and it has been on my fridge door ever since.
Pops and Gailey if you are out there hope you are both keeping well.
Been missing for a while but am catching up now:) Keep warm everyone xx
Do a little kindness every day.;)
  • forgot to add so pleased for you fuddle about your move and new job well done:) hope you and your wee family have a wonderful Christmas in your new home.

Hi Everyone - Have only been skim reading but just wanted to say how sorry I feel for those who have had dreadful weather - it must be dreadful for you.

AOT - I feel for you as I know just how upset you must be. I too have had similar behavoir from my younger son, who just moved with his family, not leaving any forwarding address, and when contacted by phone doesnt want any more to do with us, making up lots of reasons, based mainly on lies. I, however am luckier than yourself as I have a wonderful husband(not his father) as support. My thoughts and prayers are all I can offer.I can only hope, for both of us they both calm down and see sence. Worse of course because its Christmas. jac.xxx

Thanks Kez - Yes do know of Cerebra (member in fact and use their fantastic lending library service ). It's looking very likely that SALT will actually fund her communication unit but it's just the time that will take to go through that is frustrating - still at least I don't have to faff about filling in grant application form.

Hope everyone has survived the weather.

Ok must go - got a double dose of school fairs today, it shouldn't be allowed!!!

    Take care all - X
  • Hi All,

I hope there haven't been any serious problems for any of you because of the weather.

    AOT--Hugs. Still thinking of you.

Princess, if you stopped posting, I'd miss your posts. That is that. Really. I'm glad you're feeling more upbeat today.

Stilty--that sounds like it will be amazing for your DD. I hope the process is as easy and painless as possible.

Small OS victory today. I saved up and bought some nice boots last year around January. I got a good deal on them after waiting and waiting and waiting...Anyway, this year they were getting a bit worn down at the heel so I'd decided to look at taking them to a cobbler. I had to wait until this pay period to have the money and then I went a couple of times to the guy locally but each time he was closed. Today I stopped in on my way home from teaching and he was in. Furthermore, he'll have my boots finished shortly and the new heels only cost £5.90. OH was all in favour of doing it in town but I'd have to pay bus fare and I've no doubt T.mpsons would have cost more, this way I've supported a lovely local man, its just round the corner and I can pop off and pick them up--and I was worried it was going to cost far, far more.

Right, time for a cuppa and a bit of work before I pop out.

oh, Mrs.LW, how is the little fella? And Docky, hope he isn't suffering too much from having to share his attention!
