Stiltwalker just wanted to say how annoyed I would be too. When ever my girls had a party even in our little hosue we always invited everyone I the class. It was interesting at times, but I didn't want to exclude anyone, even if they didn't really play with them at school.

Just received an email I have been offered a free kitchen on freecycle, it is for my friend who has just got his first home. The kitchen has a sink unit that's it!! Someone stole the kitchen before he moved in - it was a bank repossession. He is on route to view and collect it. Just need to find a cheap electric cooker for him and that's it he has everything.

Well must get myself sorted for work, have a good day everyone x stay dry and warm

....He knows I get ill very often and very quickly, I dont seem to get much warning when im going downhill, it seems to just get me, and I cant look after him..........
Thats probaly because im very low to start with, and being diabetic for 37 years it is now taking its toll on my health .............................

Also ive got a hospital appoinment for my water work probs, and also finally got an appoinment for ENT cos ive had sinus problems for 5 years since I gave up smoking , so its wearing me down a bit........

Sheila, maybe that is the route to starting the chats about short-term visits?
...I was given homework last week: Pro's & cons of doing this counselling.....So far....I have one con!!:T ...

You are much more positive about going - including the act of getting there
You are actively considering the homework you were given
You seem (on here anyway) to be brighter, and not telling us of the concerns you have about the session.

    Will that do?!
...Well it's a long time since I cried at school but did this morning on the class TA as the kids had all gone into the class - Had seen a little girl giving out invites to the girls in DD's class and not to DD, so I thought ok, I can deal with this, until little girl said to me all in innocence on her way into class "I made one for ..... but mummy didn't give it to her" I just said "oh that's a shame" ....

If I were you, I would help DD to make her a lovely big card, and give it to her AND HER MUM on the morning of her birthday, saying "this is for you, DD made it especially"...and then see how embarassed the mum is. :grouphug: for you & your DD

STILTWALKER: That's awful, I'm so sorry. Hope your dd is ok.

PRINCESSX I know I wanted to say something supportive to you but can't for the life of me remember what. Will have to have a look back.

SHEGAR: You have had lots of good advice, but mine would be to get an urgent appointment with your GP and see if he/she can help with extra support for the time being. Maybe carers coming in as has been suggested. Sometimes they can come in four times a day. Then that would give more time to get your OH used to the idea of more longterm care in a home. If you could get carer help at home and more respite for the time being that would help wouldn't it? Esther x

Do you have a white-goods refurb scheme near you?

PRINCESSX: I've looked back and what I wanted to say was that you haven't been annoying us. Glad your feeling better about it all.

STILTWALKER: Like Floss' idea if you can bring yourself to do it.

    Afternoon all

Stiltwalker - I wouldn't take it to personally at the moment - it could be a genuine mistake. DD2 once invited the entire class to her birthday party when I'd said she could only invite 10 - she wrote out invitations herself and handed them out, when I sent out the real ones I had a lot of dissaproving tuts from other parents when they realised their child wasn't invited. I didn't live that one down for years - the little baggage! :)

Nutty - Well done on the kitchen for your friend - we offered our old units up but I got messed around something awful, one person asked if we could store the units for a few months until he was ready for them.....errmmm no! Hence the "they're on the drive and need to go today" line in my ad.

I've been doing the ohhhhh so boring job of listing things on ebay - blugh - but the money will come in handy if it sells. Now off to make chilli for tonights "chilli dogs" that we shall eat round the chiminea whilst having a wiggle of some sparklers. Then its inside for pudding and indoor fireworks - naff but fun and maybe the last year both DD's are home so will be nice to go out with a bang (or a puff of smoke if the indoor fireworks are involved)

    Just popping in...

    Stiltwalker,
just wanted to give you hugs & to say I understand your pain and fury. The same thing happened to my DD, several times I'm sorry to say, the worst for me being a (so called) friend who had a child with LD's, and a son who was fond of my DD. The son told me, when I was helping him with his reading, that he had wanted DD to come to his party but mum and dad had said no. I realise there were other parents who wouldn't have let their children go to the party if DD was there & at the end of the day school/parent politics play a big part, who fits and who doesn't, but I sobbed all the way to work.

My DD learned to take things on the chin, but it's especially hurtful when you find that parents are the cause for prejudice and not the children. I hope however, like Pooky says, it is an oversight.

Shegar, hugs, I can't imagine how hard it must be for you, the caring and the decisions around it. I have been fortunate in that I haven't had to make those decisions.
  • Just a quick post.

I can't offer any better advice shergar and stiltwalker than what has been given by other posters. Just sending you both loads of (((HUGS))).

PrincessX glad you took the chance and went to the counselling.:T I've found it really helps me.

    Welcome back MrsLW.

  • Hello BYATT lovely to hear from you again, hello to beautiful POLO too, hope you are both keeping well? Look after yourselves now it's getting cooler and keep in touch? would be nice, Love Lyn xxx.
  • Big Wave to Byatt! Good to see you again, hope you hang around.

-13 this morning but it rose to -3 for a daytime high!

I'm down with whatever it is that is going around. Achey joints, chills, stuffy sinus. and feeling sorry for myself. I think there will be a Hot toddy at bedtime tonight.

I'm going to try and finish knitting some Christmas this week. I've got a shawl on the go and a pair of socks that have been hanging around since summer of 2012!

I love the knitting magazines, they lead me astray every month. I'm bad I don't smoke, I don't drink on a regular basis, so I guess you could say they are my vice.
