kettle's on. offering brews, pumpkin muffins going in the oven later so you'll have to wait for them.
monnogran, you reminded me of when I used to be a home carer soon after my eldest was born (the lady in church turning 100 and still independent). we were given the address and some details of a new client (her name and age was all). was living in warden assisted flat and was 104. we weren't given a key or a code to get in so assumed someone else would let us in and we would do all the necessary care. we knocked and the dearest lady let us in and said 'hi, you must be my new ladies. im 104 i'm a bit blind and a bit deaf but im not bliddy daft so don't treat me like it'
alln she needed us to do was make her hot meals/drinks and make sure she was looking presentable to go out. amazing woman.
I'm a firm believer in working hard at relationships. I think too many people settle into them with complacency and think happiness should just happen (not for one minute suggesting this of you lot x).
DH has had his preop now and will hopefully be having his hip replacement within 3 weeks. nurse coming out to assess the home next week and check he'll manage ok when he comes home.
I can't wait for him to recover and get my lovely hubby back and not the tired,in pain, grumpy old man he can be at the moment (he's only 43). Christmas is going to be a challenge with 3 months on SSP, but i'm soo looking forward to coming out the other side that i'm not even worried. (will have tonnes of pumpkin in the freezer from the lotty so we'll not starve lol)
I love you all lots, straight back to playing nicely now xxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Oh I can offer some parkin, if I get my butt in gear..today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.

Hi.
Mrs LW and Katie: How awful for you both to have to grow up in that atmosphere. My parents adored each other all their lives, in fact I think we children learned very early on that, although they loved us both very much, we were something of 'add-ons'. Once we were grown up they regarded their job as completed and went back to their mutual adoration. In fact my brother and I agree that the real attention and 'child-worship' was provided by our maiden aunt who we both still miss terribly.
Oh! Come on Joy, she'd be 107 if she had lived till now.

Oooh my entertainment was my Great Aunt Ivy. She was my nans sister - talk about chalk and cheese! Vast amounts of my gran's shock and horror was aimed at her. She was thrice married, first time to someone my gran liked, but when she was 'old enough to know better' she ran off with one of her daughter's BF's a man half her age, that ended as you can imagine, and later in life she took up with a wealthy widower and drained his bank account, as she dragged him half way round the world and back. She was always glammed up to the nines, wore fantastic fashionable clothes, and if any bloke came into the room, she'd fix him with her beady eyes, flash the teeth and thrust her 'small blue and yellow garden birds' at him :rotfl: My gran always maintained that her son wasn't her OH's but the Doctors!!!

Oooh, if there is a cuppa going I'm in! Haven't had a chance to bake lately, but I have got a stash of dark chocolate I could share around.0

Welcome pondskater and OMO (hides as never got back to the Christmas thread) good to see you posting
Pumpkin wares? Here! Here!
This thread is a funny one because it's full of really nice knowledgable people who will give their right arm to support but the OS tactics and tips have all but disappeared. There's some of us eager to keep on learning so please keep 'em coming
Esther nooooooooooo don't ask me about my new life. You won't shut me up! It's took some getting what with the credit file shot be we got in with a part Geordie town councillor who is trusting us based on references. I can't believe how its happened. I keep pinching myself. We have a 2up 2down tiny little dwelling but is sandwiched between two houses so hoping to pinch some of their heatits night storage heaters and have no idea about how they work so any info would be great. Also on an electric prepay meter. I know it's more expensive but at least I can control my usage.
We have a 3-5 minute walk into town so feel so blessed to be part of the quirky community that is there. Our estate is pretty heavy with the older generation so I'm a little worried at how they will feel about a family moving in but... erm, did you know I like older folks? *ducks!
Ok, no more. Promise. Goes off to sort out lunch dreaming of pumpkin pienutty will reply to your message this evening but until I do congratulations on getting to 'the end' x

I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but just realised that you have a house to move into and not a flat Fuddle, great news.

:rotfl::rotfl: You can pop in whenever you feel like it. We won't hold a long absence against you.
(Although it is only 8 weeks until I start the new one).
Eta forgot to mention, we picked up our new rescue dog yesterday. An 18 month old chocolate lab called Mia. She is both gorgeous and house trained.0 -
I nip out to the nmarket to get my Christmas meat and you all have a tea party without me
Monnagran Im well envious - never been lucky enough to see Pam Ayres, sounds like a nice time in store for you.
Lisakay hope all goes well for you OH, he will be a new man in no time. I also envy your pumpkins :rotfl:I am determined to grow one and make pumpkin pie even if its only a tiny one portion one.
Got 2 legs of lamb off very large lambs, I must say, and they were £10 each. Have wrapped them lovingly and popped them in the oven then will slice and pack a lot of it for Chrimbo. Of course I will have to test them both for quality......looking forward to that. Dd is picking up 2 of Morrisons mega turkey drumsticks for me later then thats me done for meat for the next couple of weeks and Christmas. I am not going to pay the hiked up prices nearer the event.
Oh Katie your description of great Aunt ivy had me in stitches.
Cornish, hope hubbys bloods are good and you dont need tomorrows trip. My Oh is snoozing too so I can get on with his Christmas pressie in peace.
Lyn be careful what you wish for,I wish I was nearer as I would borrow a cow and walk it to your door. They are beautiful arent they xx

Well im at a loss over all this blog talk. I struggle to keep up with you on here, let alone else where!!!
I LOVE the doggy picture. I really miss my mr ben on days like this. I would like another dog but OH isn't as keen, as I took mr bens death really badly. Infact They changed my AD to a higher tate after his death. I took it far worse than my dads death, not saying I didn't care for him because I did. Its just mr ben was always at my feet day and night, he was my naughty little boy. with lots of character - a rescue dog too, who I think had the best life ever.
I did my shopping at @ldi today, spent about £30. I cant believe how much I save just buy going there. I found an old receipt from mr t back in the summer, it was considerably higher.
I took mum too, and we call by the farm shop. They have a butchery shop there too, pork hocks were about £4 each. So its on my list to go to again.BSC member 137
