I got lots of sweeties, lollies etc in large bowl for "guisers"
    or trick and treaters.

So far no one has knocked at the door and boy will we have a lot to go through if no one turns up later

So glad that when I tried our gas hob with electricity turned off a few days ago - it worked all right.

Our butcher sells ham shanks for £1.99 at the moment and usually about £2.49 at most.

Guernsey cows - make deep golden Guernsey butter from their milk, and spread it thick on Guernsey gache (I think that's how you spell it, it's pronounced gosh and is a local fruit teabread...yum!)

  • We've had loads of kids round we're on our 2nd tub of celebrations, some totally flummoxed by being greeted by a witch, some were so transfixed by the sweets they didn't notice my costume.
One lady will be back to chat one day, she was interested when I wished them Samhain blessings.

We have shut up shop as we have run out of sweeties - 90 packs we gave out - and everyone was very polite. The little ones are so sweet. Molly has barked herself hoarse and received lots of pats from the children as she is always first at the door. I always enjoy Halloween even now that mine are grown up (or nearly).

(I have to say that Hester is a very svelte witch;))
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • I've had the trick or treaters round as usual. Always make sure I have plenty sweeties for all the young ones - this year they must have grown up soon as have half a bowlful left. Will go for Sunday School at church so not wasted.

OMO glad Mia not phased by it all. My little dog used to bark her head off but get all wiggly and friendly as soon as door opened.:)

  • hello all,

I've been totally Halloween'd out for the day at work - we had a desk decorating competition and a pumpkin carving competiton, so i've spent the whole day in what felt like Poundland's halloween aisle!
Ignored the door this evening. Next door are having a party...

only one more day till the weekend!
the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j

A bag of mini choc bars and one of small packets of sweets was positioned by the door - Well it was not quite in vain, but just half a dozen large TEENAGERS arrived ... No small hands eagerly holding out pumpkin buckets and bags this year.

So this means we have non-seasonal chocolate in the house for the first time in a while.
    Hmm.

  • I put a big bowl of sweets out for the kids to help themselves as I took the girls out and DH not able to jump up and down to get the door. still only half empty when we got home, not checked it now but no one has knocked. last year we went to just a few select houses and had lots of neighbours say to us the next day where were you? we got lots of sweets for the girls. we went a bit further tonight, but had to come home quite early as the girls had just too many sweets. they took a bucket each and filled those at just a few houses. had to empty them into a carrier bag to carry on, they ended up with a carrier bag full each! my 2 are not used to that much sugar so they will be rationed and will probably last til Christmas!! happy Halloween (and sahmain?)
