I'm after buying a slow cooker - we have a "slow" setting on the oven, but I think that an electric one will be more economical. I used to have one years ago and can't wait to get started again! Will have a look at those ones thanks Pops.
Can anyone recommend a range cooker? Ideally one that is at the lower end of the price range! I've got gas, but don't mind the thought of dual fuel, just want some advice & info please.0 -
A selection at Argos I have a Breville.
Cheap Wilko one that Jack purchased.
Tesco one which has sometimes been as low as £12 and often available in store.
Aldi's this Thursday...
Hope that helps Floss2...:)and anyone else who is looking for one..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I use my slow cooker so much now that I would actually consider a 2nd smaller one for puds/sides etc if I had anywhere to put it.0

Thanks for slow cooker suggestions, will have to have a browse for one. Sounds very silly but I am slightly worried about leaving it plugged in when I'm out - I don't put washing machine, dishwasher or (gas) oven on unless I'm in. I know slow cookers are made for safety, just goes against my usual practices. I trust the toughies though, lots of you use one so mine will be fine too.
Garage did ring and I asked if they could fit tyre before school run which they did in record time and just home for a few mins before school run. An older man whom I thought I knew came in and I said a loud, cheery hello to which he replied. it dawned on me as he started chatting to the guy at reception that I don't know him after all. he went to leave and I didn't know whether to say goodbye (like I knew him) so said sorry I thought I knew you and then he started flirting with me, all sorts of lovely compliments. Boy did my face go even redder then, couldn't wait to pay and go. The young bloke at reception was a charmer and drop dead gorgeous as well so that didn't help matters!!
Just delving in another cupboard for a stock cube for dinner and a little packet of opened pumpkin seeds flew out and went everywhere - I have had fun finding them all
Having one of those daft days allright. Thanks Mrs LW I will strain the vinegar, just need a spare bottle now.
Better go, some roads a bit flooded so will drive the long way to school and hopefully avoid the worst of it

Afternoon!
Back from the market. I was dreading it a bit in case I ended up standing the the pouring rain for four hours, but we ended up with just a few odd drops of rain here and there thank goodness!!! Was reasonably busy considering it's now 'out of season' I dropped a couple of soups, and some pasties with DD on the way home, I just had an unsold soup for lunch, and there's one ready meal (for me) and some pasties for OH for tonights dinner. Only bought two cakes home, and half a cheesecake. All will freeze. Also did swapsies. A ready meal for sausages, and brownies for a duck stock pack. I've still to unloads the car, but it's all washing up, I've dealt with all the food. I'm so tired thoughI could do with a little sleepie!
The doglets are harassing me to go out, but it is NOW chucking it down, so they wouldn't thank me. The are Staffies, so anyone who has them will know that they don't DO getting wet
Everyone in the market today was talking about the funeral of a 10 year old boy that they all went to yesterday (it's a small village, so everyone knows everyone, and lots of the locals had kids at the school) they were all saying how dreadfully sad it wasand how affected their kids were, a lot of them insisted that they wanted to actually go to the funeral, but the parents have all had to answer lots of difficult questions. Little cancer victim. So sad. Makes you count your blessings.

Sorry glitterkitty but I'm hopeless at names. It is just up the road from Debenham's caf!, opposite approx The Gate. If that's not the one you know I'll try and find yours as have discovered are good places for bargains (and treats).:j
Have been in town again today (with voluntary work again) but so tired afterwards just came straight home. Arthritis playing up anyway and have been on feet all afternoon so am just about ready for bed - in fact I went to sleep on the way home:rotfl:
Sorry to hear your sad news Mrs Chip. Its a long time since my cats passed away but I never forget them.
As have been out all day am going to have HM roast veg soup for tea. Yesterday I just gleaned all the old veg out of fridge and freezer and bunged it in the oven for 30 mins then blitzed and added a little chicken stock. It's turned out delicious and very MSE.:money:Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -

Floss - we have a Kenw00d range in stainless steel, 5 gas burners on top (4 normal sized, one wok/large pan), with 2 ovens (side by side), one is fan assisted, the other just normal electric oven, both sides have grills too which is so handy. Big storage compartment underneath for trays etc.
Piccies of it on my blog in my new kitchen pictures.
Got our friendly plumber here currently, he came to quote for a new downstairs loo but thinks he can solve the issue so he's playing with it at the moment. Yay! I'd prefer not to have to replace it, even if it is the one that went in when the house was built in 1964.
DD2 got sent home from school with chest pains, she's seen the Dr and he's advised bed rest for - couple of days. She's sprained some muscles (he thinks) but as she has a growth defect around her ribs she doesn't have good lung capacity so needs to be very relaxed and calm or she just goes into blind panic as she can't breathe. Looks like half term starts early for her."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
