(((((((((((((((Mrs Chip))))))))))))), such sad news for you all. Sorry to hear about George, sounded a real character and much loved - he would have felt it. Huge hugs to you and your family.
Thanks for the tip floss - never heard about tyre insurance, will ask and see what they charge.
I am quietly a little annoyed with his lordship this evening. He has made a few comments too many over the last couple of weeks about my cooking.... yes the cheek of it, the very audacity  Says we don't have spicy food any more, not enough flavour, too many child friendly meals. Well yes we have 2 primary school children who are fairly fussy but gradually trying and eating more variety as they get older. I am not a fan of very spicy myself, mild is fine.
ooops he is coming downstairs will sign off now...0 -

This is who we use for tyres - I have 1 insured tyre, and it has been repaired 3 times, all with a smile and no charge0 -
He was certainly that SQ - he was very much a loner, and would not let another cat into the garden. We once saw him giving a big dog fox what for! He hated me (truly, I was always the one who had to do the bad stuff), and he would stalk me and launch himself at the back of my leg and grab with both paws and sink his teeth in. He had so much personality, it was like having another person in the house
.
Have you thought about making a spicy meal to suit your OH, and one with less spice you the rest of you? I just make a mild version for the majority and add a bit of extra spice to a portion for the spice lover. Children like mild spices generally, and it is good to get them used to all sorts of flavours early on.
Thanks again for your kind thoughts everyone. I am dreading telling Mrs Next Door, she loved G and is as soppy as us! We will all be blubbing like babies!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -

My DH adds his flavour kick from a chilli sauce that he makes himself (sometimes without even tasting )...he says I make things too mild or bland, but he just adds his own...maybe that's the way forward for Mr SQ until the kids are more spice-happy?0 -
evening all
sq your evening sounds magical
mrs chip :grouphug: sorry for your loss :grouphug:
at least georgie knows he had a great life and all loved him lots.
fuddle hows the moving coming along?
floss thanks chick!
My first on my own coffee morning went well. A few people turned even though it was completely lashing it down.
Went to LA's house with MM and spent the whole afternoon chatting, giggling and scoffing hm soup. Another peaceful day
LA's still in agony, to be honest she looked even worse today
Picked up DS2 form school and we had a slow walk home and to mr m's to get bread, milk and sandwich meat.
No bargains anywhere so didn't spend any more money.
We've just been sat in playing on games here in between get soaked to the bone brrr my feet are freezing.0 -
Evening all.
Been AWOL for a few days and have just done a lightning dash through the posts. So lightning I can't remember what has been happening and am slightly confused and bemused.
I know there are some newbies - welcome to them - do they know what they are letting themselves in for, I ask myself.
Kidat is having DH (rather more H than D) trouble. Sounds as if he is suddenly realising that he may have left it too late to claw himself back into the family's favour. Good!
Mrs Chip has lost her beloved bruiser..As our vet said when we lost Cassie, "Pets may leave our lives but they never leave our hearts," and isn't that just the truest thing?
And that's about all I can recall. Possibly won't be here again for the rest of the week. Out all day tomorrow and cooking my lunch for 60 on Wednesday. Thursday is designated as clearing up the house ready for visitors which is somewhat akin to making a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Still, I can try. Friday, visitors start arriving and Saturday is the wedding.
Friday night Stepgrandson's fiance was booked to do my nails. Given that 2 of them look like they've been used as screwdrivers, (not beyond the realms of possibility) it will be a miracle if she can get them to approximately the same length, never mind the pretty bit.
Now I'm crawling into bed as I've started a hacking cough, sore throat and runny nose. Just what I needed!
Love you all

thanks for the spicy suggestions
I guess I have made a bit more effort in the past eg. making 2 different versions of chili and also tended to do two separate meals for us and kids.... nowdays I try to do more meals to suit all because I get so tired some days. The takeaways/ready meals/ eating out we used to do much more in the past (and so more opportunties for spicy curries etc) have all virtually vanished too since our finances have been squeezed tighter and tighter.
I will make more effort to please all taste buds, I guess it must be hard if you like spicy foods and don't get to have them often. However I think I will also be encouraging DH to cook a bit more at the weekends as well. He tends to only cook if he has to ie I am ill or out of the house and then he will choose the easiest option (and probably the most bland!!)
DH is very busy with work and study but I am feeling a little unappreciated at the moment - the more I do for my little family, the more they expect and if I am not careful I will be running a full hotel style service. He could have been a little more tactful with his comments... if he is not careful he will get his flavour alright.... when I tip his meal over his head! I think my hormones must be kicking in again - I would never actually resort to wasting food in this way but I feel better for thinking it, better than harbouring resentment!

Kezlou glad the coffee morning went well and your first on your ownsome -well done you!
((((Monnagran))) - you must be feeling ill if you are in bed.... hope you feel better really soon. Dose yourself up, plenty of hot drinks and I'll cross everything it's a 24 hour lurgy. DON'T overdo things!!!
