    Burtha hugsa.
  • BURTHA love, it's a huge shock to the system to find something as scary as a brain tumour, and you've not recovered from the car incident yet so it's no wonder you're feeling so weepy and up in the air, thank goodness you've been able to talk it through with your DH and the older children. It doesn't change the facts but it does mean you're not carrying the burden alone. There are many new treatments developing and drug therapy being developed by the pharmaceutical companies these days so don't give into total despair pet, there will be something to help you. You'll see things more clearly when you've talked through the options with the consultant and although it will still be scary you'll have some options and choices. Consider yourself hugged 24 hours a day every day by all of us, that includes the family too and we'll be sending you love and strength and energy and peace too, keep talking to us, we're here for you for everything you need to say, always, Hugs and Love Lyn xxx.

burtha, hugs and thoughts, it must be very frightening for you and it will take a while for the first shock to ease. I can't tell you not to worry as that's a normal reaction, but if you could try to see it as one more thing to get through and that you will come out the other side, even if the journey is a tough one. Thoughts are with your OH and children too.

pops, glad you enjoyed the Hollies even if you had a trying journey. I've seen alot in the press over the last day or two about Mr T relaunching their Finest range and denying they are aiming for Waitrose customers. Waitrose are certainly aiming for theirs, advertising price match across many products and an extra ten percent off certain items if you have a My Waitrose card. They are really plugging said card and I wonder how long they will be able to keep supplying the perks that come with the card which doesnt cost anything. Free hot drink every day, including latte, mocha etc, free newspaper from a choice of three when you spend a fiver, free monthly mag plus other occasional offers. certainly makes me more inclined to shop there rather then elsewhere when I am passing and I have had some really good YS buys recently, much better than Mr T but nothing like the ones someone (Gailey?) got at Mr M.

SQ, hope your back is improving? And Molly, hope the injections help the pain.

Managed to visit Mum in hospital yesterday but had a major meltdown and panic attack crammed in a small, hot lift going up to the 9th floor ward. Mum OK, sitting in chair eating sweets. Think the dementia has progressed quite a bit lately as getting her to make choices from the menu for today was really hard, she didnt seem to understand what I was saying. had to send DH back up with more sweets when we made it to the ground floor shop as I couldnt face the lift again. The took dd18 for her skin test, have to go back tomorrow for result. no sign of reaction so hopefully ok. Mum will be discharged to community hospital as soon as there's a bed so hope it's soon as I won't go up to that ward again, am still getting over it.

Came home from the hospital to take puss to the vet for his results. Long chat with vet who didn't charge for consultation but did charge over 60 pounds for antibiotic injection and a month's thyroid treatment:eek: back in three weeks for blood test to see if medication is working. have to do our best for puss but will be a hundred pounds a month for first few months for tests and medication so not sure how we will manage.

Have promised myself a quiet couple of hours this morning after days of rushing around. yet to see if I will get them, always something happening here.

No news from Nutty yet? Hope she's OK.
  • NUTTY you there????????
  • Dear Burtha,

My thoughts are with you. I had a tumour scare recently and I went to pieces so I know a little how you must be feeling and how the fear of not being around for your children grips you. However, modern medicine really can perform miracles, so keep the faith and never give up hope.

My troubles last night are nothing in comparison to what others are dealing with but thanks. My fault really for leaving it a bit late I guess but I did not expect buses being pulled.

Obviously there is a bit of a panic when you see it is approx 19.10 and a show starts at 19.30 and you're not in the same town...:p

There's not really anywhere to go in Darlington Town Centre if you are too early, that's ok in Summer but when the dark nights arrive, the nights get colder etc...perhaps if I see any shows in the next six months I should treat myself to a drink in the bar or a coffee(but they always charge silly prices in theatres etc...)I usually take my own refreshments in a rucksack.

An example some well known sweets last time I was going to buy were double the price compared to the supermarket.

As said yesterday I've never ever been in Waitrose and as I have to travel approx 30 miles, it won't happen any time soon.

  • POPS I get to our local (10 miles away) Waitrose by bus and arrive just before 11am by which time they have made some reductions and I can usually pick up real bargains of good quality foods at a price I can afford to pay. These are our treats and are stashed away in the freezer for Sunday lunches and celebration meals throughout the year. I don't go very often but am always pleased with what I do manage to get as reductions. However 32 miles, too far I think I'd stay closer to home if I had to go that distance, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Burtha: Here we are my love, all ready with tissues, tea, chocolate cake and loving arms to support you through this. Other people's experiences won't mean much to you at the moment but please don't despair. A young man I know has had something similar and it took a couple of years to sort out but he has since married and had two children. New treatments are being discovered all the time. In the meantime you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

SQ: My DS1 once, in the seventies, won a prize for doing the best hemming. I remind him of that when I want to wind him up.

    ARE YOU OK NUTTY?

Burtha - it must be a terrifying time, but there are so many things that it could be, most of them perfectly fixable - stay strong! Have a dodgy hug! :grouphug:.

Nutty was reading here this morning, so hopefully she has had to rush off, but will let us know all is ok later :).
