BTDT Pooky!!! It's a shock to the system when the CB and stuff stops. This is one of the things that makes me cross when they bang on about Earning or Learning...truth be told we still need to pick up a lot of the bills for them...so we end up financially supporting the little darlings! When DS was in College last year, I had to stump up a fiver every week for his bus fare home...Don't tell but he managed to sneak on the college bus to get there (they know they do it, but turn a blind eye methinks - the guys driving these busses live in the real world) or it would have been a tenner and he'd have had to leave even earlier! Then there was petrol to drive him to town, food for him to take etc... The year before it was FOUR days a week.
I'm sitting here trying to work up some enthusiasm for baking today, need to make a list of what I've got to bake, and make sense of it all. Had my first cup of tea, while I got DS up and it's light now, so better get on!

Sixth form here and we have to pay for everything. £400 a year for bus pass
I would try the "sneek on" but they are hot on it hereMrsLurcherwalker wrote: »
We had the skeins of geese winging in over the house on to the river over this weekend, it's always the end of summer when they start to arrive in numbers and today the weather forecast is saying that temperatures will drop substantially towards the end of this week, I think I'm just about ready in terms of preparation and mentally looking forward to frosty mornings and cooler nights, it will actually be a pleasure to not feel too warm in bed at night and want hot food during the days. I made a big vat of Carrot and Potato Chowder yesterday from one of the Marguerite Patten wartime books to do us for lunches for a few days and as they have reinstated our free bus to Sainsburys I'm off for a visit this morning as I haven't been to a Sainsburys for well over six months now. I'm hoping they still do thier packs of cooking bacon as Mr.T seems to have stopped them altogether along with the 48p everyday tubs of drinking chocolate and my stocks are run out. Have a very nice day all of you and I wish you only good things and contented happenings, Love and Hugs Lyn xxx.
Any left for me
Going to hunt out the thick door curtains today ready for the cold coming.
Luckily I have some old fashioned heavy ones that do the job far better than the new style curtains. Thick heavy and lined and in front of those I have fleece on a curtain wire.
I pay for the heating so it's not allowed to escape :rotfl:

PIC - DD18 bus pass is hilarious, we pay £140 per term and that only covers the journey when she leaves our town boundaries, so has to pay the local bit of the fair at £3.80 a day, if she gets a bus from here (which is rare as they dont start running till after 9am) she has to pay a further £3.80. The diesel is cheaper for me to cut out the local bit of the journey and I think once she is driving, I have worked out that even paying for parking it will cost us less if she has a car.
Its madness, I was under the impression we were supposed to be building a system of public transport to encourage people to ditch their cars.0 -
PIC I have much left for you, I now have a mental image of you standing by the front door, bowl in hand like Oliver Twist saying 'Please, can I have some more?', Lyn xxx.0

OMG That's just crazy !!! if we were on job seekers or what ever benefit they call it now we would get it for free and some people are hoping to lose their jobs so they can afford to keep their kids in sixth form. Madness.
This is also because the kids get £38 a week if the parents are on (insert benefit name) as well as reimbursed for any school trips, equipment etc.
I'm just glad it's trendy for the kids to shop at Primani
We are scraping the money for DS17 lessons at the moment but we didn't realise we would be on the bones of our @sses when we said we would pay.
We will manage though as I know where there's some grub going spareMrsLurcherwalker wrote: »PIC I have much left for you, I now have a mental image of you standing by the front door, bowl in hand like Oliver Twist saying 'Please, can I have some more?', Lyn xxx.
:rotfl: We will change our family name to Oliver as I'm bringing the brood :rotfl:

Hope you don't mind me de-lurking just to say that if you want to do some online course check out FutureLearn (www.futurelearn.com). I have already booked up for a couple of courses.
BTW I have nothing to do with them (other than being an ex_OU student) but think it is a great idea.0 -

So we are all off to MrsLW for soup and crumble...fab...just get my shoes on....:D
Just got a letter for jury service, are they having a laugh? I did it 20 years ago and got a child molester trial, it was hell and now they want me to do it again. I do hope as a carer I am exempt as the sheer stress of getting there after leaving everything set up here for OH would be ridiculous. He would not cope without me, even with carers. there was a letter with it in 7 different languages, how the hell could you sit on a jury if you can';t speak English
And breathe.... not broken it to hubby yet, may well right and beg to be let off and tell him if I fail.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Come on over GINNY we'll turn it into a party and break out the last of last years cider too, all welcome at mine, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
