    Afternoon All,
See we're plodding on and attempting to beat what is thrown at us.

Keeping it light, I have worked out how I missed that concert in September, it was the day I saw the uke band in Coxhoe in the afternoon, I was supposed to go onto the other in the evening(and forgot)through going with someone else at short notice and being distracted when I came home...:(:o:mad:

I'll see I don't do that again when I go the next afternoon show as they fall on the same day...I also realise The Hollies concert this week falls on the night of my music club.

I have still to attempt making the shortbread but...

I made some bread in the early hours which had risen quite well by 10am, I knocked it back, gave it another quick knead, placed it back in the bowl and its doubled in size again so I may give it a go in the oven around 4pm and keep my fingers crossed.

If successful I'll try and get a second bowl going next time so I can bake two at once as the present set up means I am only making one at a time. It could still fail of course.

  • Afternoon everyone.

Can you use a pre paid envelope? If you get one from a gas company for example could you put a label over the address and use it :D

Not that I would of course, the gas company needs every penny it has

I know you ladies will know

I wouldn't risk anything important in it. They might fish them out at the post office if they don't think it's Company Post? Re using addressed envelopes with real stamps is fair game!

It's chargeable when it arrives at the pre payers address I think. So if it doesn't get there its not paid for.

Pooky I am having sciatic problems too. The physiotherapist says it's my piriformis causing the problem - it tightens around the sciatic nerve. It feels for all the world like a sprained bum cheek. I googled it and switched it off quick sharp. Back to the exercises methinks!!!

SQ probably a stupid question but....if DH's company is paying for his course then I assume it's vocational. Is there anyone where he works that has already done the course that could give him a few tips and hints on the bits that he is struggling with?

Pops best shortbread ever was made from a recipe somewhere on the grocery challenge thread with icing sugar and cornflour as well as butter. It is also good for small children to make into shapes so I daresay you could have some fun with that too.

alfsmum have a hug. Just coz, and McNasties is ok once in a while. My 8 year old has started asking to go to Frankie and Benny's, (Gulp:eek:) so make the most of the big M if it's acceptable.

I spent 3 hours this afternoon sitting in the sunshine darning the net on the trampoline. If fishermen can darn nets then so can I. Some of the holes are from the Borat thinking she is spidercat and climbing up it, sigh. Oh well, it's done for now.

    Evening all

Thanks for the hugs and nice words, my lovely virtual friends. :D. I'm passing them along in turn to those who need some, too.

DD is in bed, been saying she's tired since 3, put it down to waking in the night, but the poor mite was falling asleep stood up. Def feeling very warm, fast on in bed, hope it's a brief bug. She's never ill, and it's so quiet with her asleep, very strange!

Alfsmum, I know a bit how you feel, we've had a spell as busy - i've worked a fair bit the last 2 weeks, taken mum to 3 or 4 different appointments (thankfully nothing urgent), taken/collected DS to/from work, taken kids to 2 parties..... Hope your mum's sorted soon, am already becoming familiar with different departments not talking to each other!

    A xo

OMG Hot fudge peanut butter icecream sauce over vanilla icecream. That's my kind of pudding that's all I can say.
It's the only newsworthy thing that's happened to me all day.

OOh possession, that sounds fab, ok where is the sauce from. Dagnabit the shops are shut

Hugs to all having tough days and poorlyness - really too many to mention. Have my candle lit early and will be thinking of you all.

OH is not good, he has been in bed mostly for a week now. Did rise for half an hour so I could pop to see Smileyt but went back when we got home.

Just had a frustrating time, apparently my double glazed windows swivel round so you can clean the outside. However you need to press buttons at the top and bottom simultaneously whilst opening the window 3 pairs of hands needed and one pair needs to be outside. TBH I nearly fell out of the damn thing . Will try again in the daylight and see if there is a trick to it...anyone got a magic wand or can levitate? Sums up my life really bloomin frustrating.

((hugs)) ginny - I think our windows do the same, but I can never spare the manpower to do it as one of us has to have DS9 in sight and ready to block him when we open windows :)
He is at school tomorrow so I will have a look and see if I can find the way to do it single handed and report back
