Hi everyone
Finally back from holiday and it's taken ages to catch up on everything! Hugs to everyone who needs them.....it seems to be a difficult time for everyone!
We had a lovely time on holiday and I felt better than I have felt in a long time. I think it was a combination of the nice weather and finally being relaxed and not stressed - my feeding tube behaved perfectly and I was very sorry to come home.
Since we've been back (just over a week), I've realised how depressed I am. I have been taking ADs as the hospital believe I became depressed when the life-changing surgery took over my life and left me with a life I no longer recognise.......but I think its got worse. I'm back to sleeping the days away and feeling sorry for myself.......I think maybe I need to go back to the doctors and have a chat with him. Can they just increase ADs if you need them (I currently take 20mg of citalopram)?
I'm starting an eight week college course tonight to learn to use a sewing machine......I got given one in March and I've been too scared to take it out of the box. I'm scared of the course too!!! Watch this space...........
Love to everyone (I had pages to read through and to do it individually would take forever!!) xxx0 -
Have naughtily sneaked a peek at what you are all up to.
Mcculloch: I spent over 40 years living near the Devil's Punchbowl and loved the tales of Punchbowl Farm. It is even more glorious there now as the tunnel under Hindhead has opened and there is no longer traffic going round the Punchbowl.
Princess: Families! I think the acid test of a family member is -'would you chose that person to be your friend?' If not then I think you are well within your rights to have as little to do with that person as possible. They have forfeited their right to be considered 'family'.
Gailey: You are having such a hard time. I think that we must find a new word to describe the 'benefits' system. I don't know who it is benefitting. Presumably !!!!less folk who have many children that they cannot afford to keep themselves so expect the tax payer to keep for them. If that sounds harsh then I am sorry, but when good, hard working people like you, are messed about with the little bit of help you are richly entitled to, it makes my blood boil. My DS is having a similar problem. He went to the JC this morning because his JS allowance hadn't been paid, only to find that he had been sanctioned for 6 weeks because, apparently he had missed an appointment at the beginning of July. He is completely unaware of missing anything but there is no arguing with them. Not only that, but when he got back to his bed-sit his Landlord was on the rampage because he'd not received any HB for 2 weeks. So I'm having to find the money for his rent to stop him losing his bed-sit.:mad: Thankfully he has a job starting next Monday, but of course he won't be paid until the end of the month.
As for thinking that those people who are spending money in SMs and seemingly having a good time.........don't you believe it. Money certainly makes life more comfortable but it really, really doesn't make you happy.
Well, that's me done. I'll put myself back in my box.
x
Sorry Fuddle: My righteous indignation made me forget your stupendous news. Keep packing that girl! If you can lay your hands on egg trays they are ace for lining boxes of fragile things.
PS The word that has been officiously scrubbed out is not rude at all. I was trying to describe people who live carelessly and with no thought of how they are going to pay for their life style.
Got it?
Monnagran, you're dead right - if I could erase certain of my family members for the above reasons, I'd be down about 50% of 'em! :rotfl:

Pink - yes go to the GP, if you need to increase your dose they will sort it. DH has phoned the surgery on a couple of occasions and had a quick chat with our GP and he's been told to increase to "x" doesage. He's been told that he's now on the highest dose he can have of this one but he can be moved to another one if required. Have a hug and take care.
Gailey - I think it's only natural now and then to look at others lives with a bit of the green eyed monster, but unless you know what's goi on behind closed doors it's often all for show. One of DDs friends was given a brand new car for her 17th birthday last week along with a huge party and a holiday booked for her and 5 friends. Both DDs were a little miffed at this but I know this girls mum through a friend of a friend and saw on FB that she'd booked the holiday and been on a huge shopping spree because she'd just been approved for a new credit card......someone commented "how long will it take you to pay it back though" and her reply was all the time she could get credit shed spend it, enjoy it and ignore the repayments and go bankrupt like everyone else does! On the surface they're a happy family but I know her DH has been playing away from home and her eldest DD has been kicked out of Uni. Surface appearances mean nothing if they're not backed up with good family values, which I'm sure you and your family have."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Monnagran thanks for the mention of the Devil's Punch Bowl. I knew about the tunnel as my ears were always tuned to mentions of the Punch Bowl in the media.
Monica died in 1998, aged 85, but there is a wonderfully nostalgic website for fans here plus an appreciation society. Those books were beautifully written. She often lifted conversations and events from daily life at the farm with her daughter Shelley and put them into Lindsey or Tamsin's lives.
Staying with you Monnagran, I bet your son didn't miss an appointment at the JC, but there's been a convenient 'clerical error' somewhere. Remember that case a couple of months back where someone working for an agency boasted how much she enjoyed sanctioning benefit claimants?
Granted she didn't work directly for the DWP, but her attitude is widespread thanks to the Daily Fail and others.
Impossible to prove of course. My only experience of falling foul of the system was some years ago when I was working hourly paid in term time.
I was overpaid during school holidays (not my fault, system didn't catch up with a change) but as with your son, everything stopping meant I didn't get something to which I was entitled, namely council tax benefit.
Things were fairly dire but I made it through, thanks to an additional new job and being able to claim DLA, the back payment of this got me finally sorted.
Does anyone else think it rather ironic that a forum like this blocks the word 'f . e.. c. k.less' ? That's the readership MSE needs to attract!
And finally .... If I'd known anyone was going to copy the risotto recipe I'd have been clearer in the explanation !Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

fuddle, good luck with your move x
Mcculloch, my favourite risotto is beetroot and goats cheese, made with veg stock and a bit of cream cheese stirred through at the end. a splash of vinegar works well instead of a glass of wine I find, balsamic with beetroot as its lovely and dark, white wine or cider vinegar for light coloured risottos.
Also, I don't bother with risotto rice any more, I buy a big bag of pudding rice from the ethnic supermarket. It works perfectly and is cheaper than Arborio.
My first full day of childminding was so much fun. We went to 2 different parks, the library and still found some time to play at home. the first one arrived at 8am and the last one didn't leave til 6.30, so a long and tiring day but the kids are all so lovely.
looking forward to another fun filled but cheap day tomorrow. back to the park while it's still nice enough, intend to make the most of the mild and dry weather.
DH on his first of 3 nights off tonight so will stay away from computer now and try to make conversation lol. nanite xfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0
