Evening All!
You will have to excuse this post, I am sitting here, somewhat squiffy after having the first pre-dinner sherries (3) of the season, followed by a glass of Rioja. The occasion being the last roast beef of last seasons crop. Mr C treats us to several beef joints from our favourite butchers in Cornwall when we go each autumn. We found one lurking in the freezer, so had it today to celebrate the end of the season up at the campsite. I could not drink the sherry last year, it gave me an immediate headache, but it seems fine at the mo, apart from being quite merry
. I rarely drink these days
.
The homework issue - I am gobsmacked that children are given so much at that age, and that it is set in a way that means that parents have to be totally involved - do the teachers live in the real world?
Funeral talk - I admire all those who are able to make plans (and Cranky and Cornishchick, you have my total admiration), I am a head-in-sand person, I hate funerals because I blub from start to fininsh, I am not able to cope with the emotion. I had to shut down at Mums, just to get through it. I am such a wimp:o. I don't want a fuss though, told OH to put me out with the bins, but not sure LA would be happy with that.
Shrew 3 is avoiding capture, but scoffing the mealworms put out to tempt him/her into the trap. I am not so fussed about it living in the kitchen, but don't want it trapped in there - it seems they have to eat every two hours or they die! There can only be so much shrew food in one small kitchen.
Ginny - I hope Smiley is OK, I do miss her posts, she gave us so many laughs, please say hello next time you meet!
Keeps smiling Sheila, and enjoy your week. You must decide what is best for both you and OH, if you cannot cope with OH as he is (mentally or physically), it will do no-one any favours to prolong things. You will know in your heart what is the right thing.
Hugs to everone who needs them, sorry I have read, but it's all gone out of my drink-addled brain!
Oh Mar - remembered what you said - has RV really lasted 48 years? :rotfl:Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
DO shared this with me on FB, had to share it with you guys, enjoy.
Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?
Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.
Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.
Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.today's mood is brought to you by coffee, lack of sleep and idiots.
Living on my memories, making new ones.

Well it turned out to be a good job that we didn't go out last night - went up to bed to find that DD was just in the process of yucking up in her bed so she had to have a midnight bath and complete change. DS woke at 5 for milk so DH went downstairs brought me a bottle of milk, fetched me DS and then promptly went and upchucked in the bathroom - DS still not quite himself so just call me Florence today!! I also completely cleaned and disinfected the bathroom so at least that is another job off the list! It is one of the things that DH is going to take over when he finishes so he has a clean slate to start with.
So hoping that I don't come down with it next though!
Kids bathed and in bed - lie ins tomorrow as neither are going to school/nursery, we stick rigidly to the 48 hour rule, even sometimes stretching it to 72 hours, partly with DD because she is such an affectionate child she'd pass it on to the entire rest of the class and I would be one very unpopular mummy in the playground!! and partly because any illness completely knocks all their other skills so they are both even more wobbly and uncoordinated than usual so they are better off at home in their most familiar environment where I can keep a very close eye on what they are attempting to do physically.
Treated myself to an Observer this morning as it was food monthly week but not had chance to read it yet so will finish this then settle down for a read. Remembered why I stopped getting a Sunday paper - I never get to actually read it til about Tuesday!
Take care all - X0 -
Sheila a home circle is a circle of mediums who sit in somebody's home - but in this case its an upstairs room in an antique shop...so should be very interesting0

Sorry Folks...this is mainly a test trying to get around problems of posting images...
The lovely cakes I purchased at the Alnwick Food Festival..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

loving all this talk of funerals, have told my DH that mine is to be invite only, with bouncers on the doors , will come back and haunt anyone who sends flowers, carn't stand them ..so not many people will be there
other than that they can do/play/say what they want ,cause I won't be there
hugs to all who need them, lots of people seem to be walking through the brown sticky stuff at present , mine was a walk,but hope that after physio tomorrow that may change to at least a jump or a skip . x Pops the cakes look great but do remind me of the lady in the vicar of dibley
glad you had a good time though.
