Made me chuckle. Have visions of Pops crab shuffling into some photos :rotfl:

I hope you had a good time, we went a few years ago to the castle and I loved it.

    Morning PIC and All,
The new way of posting images makes it difficult to resize them(sometimes)I can understand Jean Christophie Novelli's appeal and its not all about cooking:p

  • Morning all,

My, what a morbid turn ;) Personally, although daisies aren't my favourite, the idea of "pushing up daisies" always appealed to me.

Its been an intense few days and I'm afraid it won't slow down for awhile yet. I have popped in to read from time to time--AOT and Princess, sounds like you could both use hugs.

I've more work to do this afternoon, but I'll stop early and make a nice dinner and bake something for the week. I'm thinking some blueberry muffins as OH likes those, the blueberries are excellent at fighting off colds (he has several ill pupils and I'll be meeting freshers next week!) and they're very portable so we can have them as needed. I'm making a courgette lasagne again, its a favourite for both of us, reasonably healthy and an excellent way to use those courgettes that got away from me while I was away. I'll do a few more for the freezer as the grating takes ages and once that is done its a very easy dinner.

Hugs to any and all who need them.

Molly--don't worry your daughter will be too busy to be homesick before she knows it.

Another stall had unusual scone combinations but as they were a bit expensive I only purchased two...Apple and Raspberry and Cheese and Bacon.

On another stall I went for an easy cake(Lemon Drizzle)but from the same company(there was an offer of a special offer for three)so the others were Parsnip, Lime and Ginger and another combination with a vegetable included. What you can do...

Dh and I have discussed funerals jokingly but seriously IFKWIM - I've let him know that I want November Rain by Guns'n'Roses and if he can find anyone that could get past the second line of 'Stop all the clocks' then I love that poem but since I can't even read it in my head without welling up I'm not holding my breathe! Dh can't make his mind up.

You could play it as an audio track, the version from Four Weddings and a Funeral is on Youtube. Its fairly straightforward to extract the audio and have it as an mp3.

I don't want any service, just a quick, straightforward, cheap as chips disposal. I can't stand the idea of people gathering in a strange place to say "goodbye". I'd much rather people went about their every day business and thought about me for something I'd said or did, not an enforced "you must do this because it's tradition".

But when all is said and done, i won't be there so it really doesn't matter :)

It's supposed to be a lovely bright sunny, warm weekend. It's drizzly and muggy :( I've just been to collect a car load of free wood from a couple doing some renovations to their house, I was the 5th person today to collect and I couldn't get any more in the car, they've got people going all day and promised to email if there's any left....I like free wood....just got to chop it all now!

  • molly41 when we left DD1 after helping her to move into uni halls last year she started to fill up with teary eyes and I hated leaving her there. Fast forward one week and she was too busy gadding about to be able to talk to us when we rang her. This was a girl that was a real home bird and rarely went out.
We helped her move into a house with friends last weekend as she has now moved out of halls for her second year.

I made pasta sauce yesterday with HG toms and courgette and portioned it up before popping it into the freezer. I also made two fish pies with YS fish. We had one last night and one went into the freezer. I also chopped and froze no end of peppers to use over the winter when they become too expensive to buy.

Mum and dad came over with three very large bags of cooking apples for me. This means I can clear some of the blackberries from the freezer for apple and blackberry jam making. I have a very large freezer but it is absolutely crammed full at the moment (we have done well out of the lottie). I can not decide if I should go down the canning or the dehydrating route. I know some of you dehydrate your produce. I have had a look at dehydrators and they are either around the £50 mark or jump up to £200. Are the cheaper ones any good or would it be better to save up for one of the dearer ones?

Mum has told me that there is a list of the music she wants playing at her funeral in her knicker drawer which I suppose is as good a place as any to keep it but not the first place I would think of looking.

It is another lovely sunny day here today but we are traveling further up north to go and clear the little back yard of the house DD1 has moved into and to deliver an old garden table and chairs for the girls to use.

((Hugs)) to everyone who needs them.

    Have a good day

    Mrs VP
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

just a quick stop to say hello and hope you all have a good day today. I got 10 hours of uninterupted (sp?) sleep last night, can't remember when that happenned last and have a bit of energy (wahoo!) so am trying to put it to good use while it lasts. All beds are stripped, laundry in various stages being processed and various small chores done and about to supervise some more of DS9's homework (did a load yesterday too) - this is the first year he has had what a call a reasonable amount, hardly any in previous years.

Glad you had a great day out pops - we stayed near Alnwick for our summer holiday and would love to live up there. Are you having a quiet day today?

Is Jean Christophie Novelli a French chef? If so he ticks so many things on my list.... the accent and food before we even get to the looks.... mmmmmmmm. DH jokes that the way to my heart is food... he did most of the cooking when we first lived together as I couldn't cook a thing.

back later hopefully to catch up on posts properly. oh and nearly forgot apparantely I have "won" the new Jammy Olives cook book thanks to MSE!! Very excited as never win a bean.... will be watching out for the post with bated breath. What with that, the chocolates gift and the BIg Sleep feeling more positive today :)

  • I don't really have plans for my demise any more...I suspect it will be a few words at the crem being alone now.

    Yes SQ he's French.:)

A quiet day for sure...By the time I came home...I wondered how I had managed to do the day. I fell asleep on the bus(but as I was getting off where all the buses terminate)except the last one, I could not go past my destination.

My legs(well my knees)were screaming out for relief. Remarkably, I have slept and better than feared. I decided I will do nothing today. Except for my little trip to the Bingo tonight and my usual soft drinks. Its on the town and luckily there is one bus in time for it that stops outside the event and a shared taxi to my door.

Well done on winning the book, how good is that:D

The local Tesco's is installing new checkouts(started through the early hours)and the same today...but they are adding an extra 10 self service units. So that means fewer checkouts with a person on them.

So unless they use the staff elsewhere in store, that means loss of jobs or part time work.

One member of staff told me a customer said she likes being served by someone but was using the self service. That is why its happening.

So love or hate them the self op checkout is growing...

  • I'm being rolled in to the Shepherds/Pearl fishers duet, I don't care who says what as long as it's quick. My exit music is Build me up Buttercup.
My mother chose I will Survive for her funeral and they used it for a weetabix advert, my father chose Impossible Dream and that was used for a Honda advert!
