We've spent 48 years arguing and have now started arguing about our funerals. It's good to have a fresh subject to disagree on ;)

    thanks just thanks :rotfl:
  • Hi All,
Finally back. I will report on the trip to Alnwick. I'm feeling it now...will put a few images up...I did not speak to him but a TV chef was being photographed next to me so I sneaked some photo's myself. I decorated a Gingerbread Man and purchased some lovely cakes...more later.

Saving Queen: If your friends mum is very ill and her daughter was able to get there only because you took her and picked her up, or just because you cared and helped at that time, then to her that is worth so much. It may seem small to you but it could've been a major blessing to your friends mum. Well done for caring. God bless. Esther x

  • My DH had his funeral plan all written out and I just had to follow the instructions. I guess once a sergeant major always a sergeant major. :rotfl:

We had always discussed such matters and laughed about them as well.

He got exactly what he wanted.

Well Mr CC has instructions, and lists, including who to call after, I cried when I read it, with laughter.... cos along with the usual list of companies and friends he has written

  • Dh and I have discussed funerals jokingly but seriously IFKWIM - I've let him know that I want November Rain by Guns'n'Roses and if he can find anyone that could get past the second line of 'Stop all the clocks' then I love that poem but since I can't even read it in my head without welling up I'm not holding my breathe! Dh can't make his mind up.

We were supposed to be out tonight for a friends birthday but our carer was ill and the backup was unavailable (dad is hospital so totally understand) so stayed in and watched telly instead, no change from usual, except (as we didn't know til late that we weren't going out) I sat here in my going out togs with my makeup done! We have had a few drinks at home instead, not quite the same but a damn sight cheaper!!! (looking on the bright side)

Take care all and big hugs where needed or wanted - X

Made me chuckle. Have visions of Pops crab shuffling into some photos :rotfl:

I hope you had a good time, we went a few years ago to the castle and I loved it.

Oh good luck - bite your lip until you leave :)

I have been involved with freshers this week - ours came last weekend. Just remember it is in the university's interest to make sure that Freshers are happy, we don't want them leaving before we can get those fees :p. Seriously much effort is put into all Freshers at all Universities - these first few weeks are so important to their long term propects at the Uni - I took some on a walking tour of the city on Thursday and was hearing about this that and the other party. I used to be a bit envious - too tired to care now :rotfl: I've been there, done that, probably bought too many t shirts - and now they are dusters :D

Thankyou for your reassurance - and to all who posted.

DD had a very wobbly moment last night as it was very quiet and she had finished unpacking her bits and pieces. She phoned and asked me if it would feel like home and I said that it will feel more homely soon - there is only one place called home!

Quiet this morning as DD normally wakes the house up at 5.30 am getting ready for work and that involves hairdryers and showers:o

Off over to my parents later to fill Dads dossette box and deliver their shopping. He goes from strength to strength - it is just poor mum, OH and me that have been left reeling over what a close call it was:eek:
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
  • MOLLY love, you'll both get used to the changes given bit of time. It's a whole new world for your lovely DD and a bit overwhealming until she finds her feet and understands the system. The one who will have to make the biggest adjustment is yourself pet, and that starts to happen when DD starts to settle down and enjoy her new
life. You'll both be fine but it doesn't feel like it today does it? Give it a few weeks and you'll all be feeling much more positive and happier. Glad your dad is making progress, something happening out of the blue like that really takes its toll on all of you especially when you are recovering from something as major as an operation. Perhaps now the big Uni adventure is underway you'll all feel less stressed and have a bit more strength to tackle the ongoing problems for the elder family. Look after yourselves and the best of good luck to Miss MOLLY on her big new venture, Love and Hugs Lyn xxx.

Talking of funerals we are all sorted too. Oh's aunt decided years ago she had lost her faith so Oh had to do the eulogy and press the button to send the coffin through the curtains  he didnt know about that bit. So he has decided I have to do the same for him  I have told the children that this tradition ends with him, its an awful job. Im having a friend who is a Christian biker minister to do mine. he has to be late and screech to a halt on his bike, run in and do the ceremony in his leathers - just for the hell of it :rotfl:

Just about to take DGS home after a lovely weekend, every week gets easier, no more bedtime tussles and he sleeps all night ! then Im off to meet Smileyt for a cuppa and a natter - impromptu meet -up.

  • GINNY I don't want words said over me, I just want someone to pop me in the hole, say 'Bon Voyage Ma, see you in a few years' and then plant my tree and fill it in again. I've had the best fun life can provide, had and loved He Who Knows and the Girls, had some amazing little canine companions, some very good friends and a wonderful life where I've been able to be ME!!! Who could be sad when the life given has been that good? not me certainly, Cheers Lyn xxx.
