AOT have a hug or 10!!! Could you write to him, not to rip up about his behaviour but to tell him how much you miss him and how it's always lovely to be able to visit and that it cheers you up to go? He might not appreciate how difficult life is for you with Old Arthur and might see things differently if you explain it to him. Worth a try and even if it doesn't make a difference to his attitude you'll know he knows, if that makes sense.
MAR I would serve sausages or chicken with the Mediterranean veg, or use some of it to make a soup and add some beans to the mix, it would be like ribollita, which is a very hearty italian soup.
He Who Knows has gone fishing today so my lurcha and I are going to have an easy day after all the chutneying of the past couple. We've been for a nice walkies this morning and the sun is trying to come out of the clouds so I'm off to put the washing out on the line and then some ironing to do, have a nice day everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Hi all.
Quite day here today. Gives me a chance to have a whiz around the house and get some clothes repaired. Done a load of washing, But the heaven’s have been opened here for the past 3 days. So its drying inside. Might take a while as its rather chilly.
Sorry to hear about a lot of you having troubles. Only advice I can give is that it WILL get better. Hopefully everything came out alright for NuttyP.
AOT: One thing I have learnt of late, Is no matter how hard you try you can never make everyone happy. Sadly your son will learn the hard way. Is there anything that could be troubling him? A demanding partner? Ect. Either way I don’t think there is a warranted excuse. You’re his mother and you should be treated with respect and care.
Hugs to everyone.
Quick question, I have got some mince meat out the freezer this morning. I intend to use it for 3 meals. (Never noticed before freezing how big the packet was) therefore, I’m wondering if I cook it all today, Can I then re-freeze the left overs? On the understanding I will cook with it at on a later date?Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
PX87 you surely can freeze cooked mince perfectly safely. I always buy a 500gram pack even though there are only the two of us and when I cook it, I make a shepherds pie plus an extra one to freeze with half of it (I sometimes put baked beans in to make it more nutritious) and something like a bolognese sauce with the other half, and freeze half of that for the future. They come out of the freezer as nice as freshly made ones, hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

PRINCESSX87 You can only refreeze it if you change it's form so to speak. So if something is raw then it can't be refrozen, but if you cook it then the resulting dish can then be frozen. Things like stock can be frozen, used to make something like soup and then the soup can be frozen. I hope that makes sense.0

Thanks for that Mrslw & SDG... I assumed it was okay. Just thought i better check. xxFuture goals:

Hugs to everyone today, It is grey and miserable outside which does not help.
Kidcat I would have handed him my car keys and said You need to be at X school for X time and Here for X time so you need to be at my house for X to get them ready and in the car. I would then have walked to the door counting to see how long it took him to shout after me.
Schools make me so angry these days. I am so glad I homeschooled all these years. DD said her dd school breakfast club costs have gone up to £2 a day for 1 piece of toast and some milk. My sis who works in another school worked it out and said if they had 30 children they were charging £60 a week. She offered to provide it cheaper with a few fishes added too0 -

Getting very tired with it all , its not his fault , this is what that dam stroke done to him, his head is all over the place, its wearing me down so much......Ive got dam sinus problems again which in turns give me bad headaches, so the last thing I want is someone in my ear 16 hours per day.....:mad:Sorry had to get that off my chest...........He is going to anger management groups, it only helps a short time then he forgets what he as been told..................................
Had to buy a new tumble dryer yesterday,, the old one went wrong back in the winter , so I had a new heater put in , well that still didnt cure it , so next had a thermo put in , and after spending £123.00 on it , the shi**ing thing still dont heat up properly, so a new one it is.............I should have hulled it out before trying to repair it, and bought new one there and then ..............It as to be a throw away society when things cost more to have repaired.........

Afternoon all,
Mad busy morning at work, had a system upgrade (xp to 7) and had to multiple restarts and check things were working and download things again and and and.... was desperate for lunch to arrive and when it did the canteen fairies messed up a tuna sandwich, the tuna and salad are never drained well enough so baguette went royally soggy grrrr
Savingqueen thankshope you got on ok with your blood tests and survived the starvation side!
Monnagran thats such a horrible story, hope he gets the help he needs. You'll need to tell us if he crosses your path again and hopefully have better news.
AOT (((hugs))) it's not nice when your efforts feel unappreciated. I agree that going again when you feel 'unwanted' isn't good for you, you need to put your health first. I would add that if your son feels your presence is not required then any other contributions (financial?) should be deemed 'not required' too. He'll notice how much he needs you then. It's sad, my mum and I grew closer when I left for university. At the time we were the same ages as when my gran passed (I was 17, mum 43. Gran passed at 43 when mum was 17) and it made me think about how I would cope if anything happened to her.

....What do you eat with Med roast veg? I got 3 packs from asda because I thought it was freezable and it isn't so we have to eat it all this week....
We often have roasted veg (peppers, onions, aubergines, courgettes) so I would suggest:
as a veg with salmon, chops, chicken burgers etc
mixed with rice or pasta
made into pasta bake or lasagne, cooked & frozen in portions
DH has it cold in sandwiches with mayo or cream cheese
I tend to cook a couple of trays at once, then stick it in the fridge. I reheat it in a small pan with a drop of the cooking oil, or for pasta bake or lasagne just layer it from the cold dish onto the pasta.0 -
Hi everyone,
Hope you're feeling a little brighter today SDG, you poor love.
Princess - you need a telling off, you have as much right as the rest of us to sound off, please keep on posting away- no staying in the background do you hear?!
Shegar, hang in there, only 5 days (was it?) to go til your respite break. You do so well, try and grab some time for yourself today.
Nutty - how did the disciplinary meeting go?
AOT - sorry to hear about your visit to your son. I am not the best to advise with family relations as most of mine are not very healthy but thinking of you and sending you a huge hug.
Monnagran - that poor man living in the shed, it doesn't sound at all right stopping his HB like that. I really hope his luck changes soon and he gets sorted out. if I win the lottery, a fat cheque will be winging it's way to you monnagran, I know you would use it wisely.
I don't know very much at all about benefits and I suspect that will be one of the main problems the future recipients of my voluntary post will have. I will have to take down their issues, go away and research and come back with the answers at the next meeting I guess. Will be a steep learning curve, we didn't even touch on the benefits system during our training.
Thanks cornishchick - it didn't occur to me to take a flask this morning, too busy sorting out the kids for school. I planned to grab a cuppa and a cheese roll or similar in the WRVS caf! at the hospital after (the prices are cheap and all profits go to the hospital.) Unfortunately they weren't opened when I got out -had an unusually short wait... I was nearly jumping with joy as it's usually a couple of hours.
I am useless without me morning grub so found a caf! in town with a special breakfast offer (Weds is a quiet day with no market on) and a lovely waitress who speaks to everyone like a long lost friend. A kind man gave me his parking ticket, only used 10 mins of a 2 hour paid ticket. You know those little gestures today really cheered me up - every time you help someone in even a small way or just smile - it really helps make the world a better place.
choccy eclairs..... sigh..... I am on day one of the New Healthy Lifestyle... just had melon for "lunch" to balance out the cooked breakfast.
Waiting for washing to finish, we actually have some sunshine today and then I am having a wee nap, hoping will be enough to cope with the rest of the day as it's swimming after school and late back for dinner and baths. A ton to do indoors it will have to blooming well wait.
Hugs to anyone who needs them and apologies if I have missed anyone out - that's all I can remember for now. Back later no doubt if I get time.
onwards and upwards me hearties
