No rain today , but plenty of cloud, should sun in morning and get some rain and high winds tomorrow afternoon , its not cold at all , just dam miserable with the blinking cloud............Oh well it is now autumn , and definately not having " indian summer " this year...........Sheila

Oh enjoy stilty! No tipple tonight for us. Went in for Tia Maria to make coffee liquer but turned back with the price. Wish Aldi did a cheaper version :(

Sheila DH reckons my aunty got too close to helping her sort it, panicked and used horror of bad mouthing me as a tactic to get out of the situation. Sounds about right I guess.

Forgot to tell you all :) I picked up dripping at the butchers. Ill be adding it to the chip pan.

I made pineapple upside down cake tonight for supper (minus cherries) was lovely. I hid in the kitchen and selfishly and indulgently ate the scrapings out of the mixing bowl :D

.....DH starts radiotherapy on Tuesday so after a month of daily treatment we hope to have stopped the carcinoma in its's tracks. Trying him on home made smoothies, blended soups etc so he gets used to certain dishes before he needs to have them if treatment affects his ability to chew, swallow etc.

When my dad had 80% of his stomach removed due to cancer, he was prescribed Fortisip fortified drinks...maybe something to bear in mind to keep his strength up.

Also (you may already know this so apologies in advance if you did), radiotherapy is a cumulatively draining treatment, and your DH will be much more tired after 2 weeks than after the first, and again after each further week. Something else to bear in mind for what he is able to do when his treatment is finished.

I made jam today for the first time ever, can't believe how easy it was.
OH had come home with a carrier bag full of plums that someone had given him so I decided to give it a try and it is delicious.

Also made a lovely chickpea curry another first for me.

Weather for here is horrendous for tomorrow so it will be an at home day I think.

Evening all....well I delivered the blooming cupcakes, that was the last 'thing' on the to do list for a bit, so glad about that.

We just had a really tasty dinner, I bought a piece of beef from one of the other market traders tuesday, cooked it tonight and we had it with carrots, spuds and chard from the garden. I also made some gluten free yorkshires on a whim, using doves farm mix and chickpea flour, they were super super tasty and OH and DS liked them too :j

My sciatica is acting up...not in my back, i've got pins and needles/hot/cold sensations in my left thigh over a huge patch :O this has happened a lot over the last couple of months, rather unpleasant, my leg feels 'unreliable' so now I am slumped on the sofa with a glass of wine waiting for the X factor ;)

Thanks so much for the information and ideas.

I have warned him as has GP, nurse etc, that he is likely to be tired and effects are cumulative but don't think he has really taken it on board yet. Have managed to make him promise to rest if he needs to and to not overdo things.

Pizza went down a storm and we are all watching X factor together but very quiet without youngest.

Cooking ox cheeks with carrots, onions and gravy tomorrow with yorkshires, green veg and carrot and turnip mash tomorrow with some fancy sausages for dd who does not eat beef.

    Hug to all

I will get it checked out, now the summer madness is over, I know I should. It's not a pain though :( I take anti inflammatories anyway!

  • Evening toughies, missed a few days, what a lot to catch up on! Lots of virtual hugs to all, seems like a lot in need.

Mar, will you pm me details of your soaps again? Decluttered my inbox too efficiently (NOT like me at all! :D)

Monnagran, couldn't find your/rev's article on the online version of your paper, is it there? Can you pm me a link and one to your magazine if you do it online? Glad you had such a blast for the Rev, you both deserve all the support - and I'm sure it was delivered gladly!

Took mum to the memory clinic again this week, and we finally have a diagnosis of mild dementia, and a px for tablets to begin soon. Hard to tell if she'll eventually go the same way as her mum, but at least we have that 'label' if she or we need any support in the future. Dr we saw this time was marvellous, restored my faith in the creaky system we have, she was lovely with mum, too. Might be lots of heartache in the future, but am sure it's a long, long way off!

Does anyone have a simple (as in no fancy ingredients) recipe for savoury muffins? TIA

    A xo
