I don't use a stain remover, just a bit of washing up liquid direct on the stain (both sides of fabric) and rub in well, wash as hot as the fabric will allow and place in direct sunlight. It's amazing what sunlight will do.

Just been to order DHs new car, should be with us in 12 weeks, so much easier for him to get in and out of, I won't be putting my back out trying to hoik him out of his seat. Took advantage of being in a different town and visited their newly opened B&M, spent a fortune but some fab bargains.

DH is back in bed, the driving and sitting around at the car showroom was to much for him, I shall get him up for some dinner but suspect he'd rather sleep through.

YS turkey thigh (diced) in the SC with spinach, corn and tomatoes with a good blend of curry powder/seasoning....will serve with some YS naans. I love a YS dinner :)

    Grrrrrrrr.............................blo88dy workmen :mad::mad::mad:.

I just called tree man to see when he would be here - he said "Well I said I was available late morning, but you did not come back to me". I had replied to his email straight away, he says he did not see it.... !!!!!!, would you not check if you had had a reply???

So now he is coming this afternoon, which is time I had put aside to do some catering cooking for the weekend.

So fed up with trades they are nothing but hassle (sorry for those with OHs who are trades :rotfl:).

Oh I feel your pain, I do ! We need work done to our house front, we have tried to get 5 quotes, with 'tried' being the operative word. If, if, IF they turned up to look, we were lucky if they sent a quote. DH was all for chasing them but I tend to think if they can't even send a quote without being reminded the chances of them turning up and doing the job are slim. We tried a broad base of companies too.....local companies, one man bands, nationwide companies, to name a few. Think (hope) we have found someone now but won't rest till job completed.

Oh Taurus, that sounds just like us!

I tried and tried to find someone to take on the work next door to convert it to a catering kitchen - all very basic stuff, but we got exactly the same response! We have something here called The Pembrokeshire Promise which is endemic with all the trades it seems - they cannot just tell you they don't want the work so mess you about and dont turn up! I get so cross!!!

And then the bloke that a neighbour used, and said was great, came and saw some garden work that was needed, then never quoted. He knew what we wanted beforehand, why didn't he just say no? Not even a curtesy emal to say he was not interested.

Tree man has been and hopefully knows what is needed, so just await a quote.

  • Hi Florence
I'm here and I'm fine thanks, I'm out of hospital and still recovering slowly. I closed my blog as it was getting spammed to death.
I don't want to hijack this thread, but please feel free to pm me.

    Hi.

Florenceem: Hester is posting on this thread so she is out of hospital and struggling back to normal(!) life. If you know Hester you will be wondering how normal is normal. Watch this space.

Just had a scan through. Stains - an overnight soak in Nappisan usually sorts me out but Ariel Stain Remover is very good.

Tradesmen. Here on the Island you are usually told which day to expect someone, but not which week. Or it could be another day entirely, depending whether or not there is an 'R' in the month.

BT? Don't get me started. The pay off on this one was when some numpty told me that I was not who I thought I was. Sorry?

  • OK I may have ben a little unkind to the bus company! They rang us at 4.15 from the local bus depot, someone had handed in my friends purse, a member of the public and they were worried that she was worried so they said we're open until 5 could you get here by then? So we picked her up and took her and the girl in the office appologised for not answering the phone at lunchtime, she had been inundated with people in the office and she was working single handed today. Bless her heart she was so relieved that every single thing was still in the purse, my friend was quite touched at how lovely she was. So I must learn not to be quite so cynical in life mustn't I, it appears there are still some decent honest and trustworthy folks around, and I am mightily glad there are!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

DH just in. He's been to a meeting with his boss. Details are still sketchy until she meets with operations and won't know about how the depot is ready construction wise till 23rd Sept. Could be October, November or December. We're going (yey!) we just don't know when.
