Well I managed to finish my final project for this current module yesterday!!!! Got a friend reading it through before I submit it - well before I figure out how to zip files and then submit it - lol!
Warning - slightly self pitying rambling alert!
School going great for little miss Stilty - however mornings are not going so great. Trying to get them both up and out of the house is proving a major problem. We are having meltdowns left, right and centre and I'm at a bit of a loss what to do about it. We usually manage to avoid most meltdowns by tag teaming and distraction so if she is heading to it for me, then DH takes over with a different task - but with just me in the morning that isn't possible. Getting to the point where we are actually doing the sums for DH to give up work and claim carers for DS and to be honest it doesn't make that much of a difference. I'm reluctant as it seems to soon after DD starting school and it feels like giving up. Plus, although I love DH dearly, I'm not sure how I'd manage with him cluttering up the place all day. He wold also need a fair amount of bottom kicking to do his fair share - not through not wanting to do it - more because he comes from a family where his mum did everything (even though she worked FT)and his dad was an old fashioned going to work blokey (they are 80 and 85 so 'that' generation) so he thinks that he's doing great and his mum tells him how fantastic he is helping around the house - and compared to his dad he is! but I come from a family where my dad (63) was a 'new man' and has always done his fair share and actually cooks better than my mum (and she is pretty good!).
There would be upsides to it, I would be able to get back to cooking proper food if he was about more as I'll confess to not be terribly OS recently and serving up an awful lot of ready made stuff as the kids have just not allowed for me to be in the kitchen for longer than 5/10 minutes at a time.
I think the other thing that has got me down is that we have had the chat about housing and filled in the online form for social housing this afternoon - probably be about 5 years before anything suitable comes up but it is the fact that we have sort of accepted that our lovely house that we adore with our lovely neighbours and great location is rapidly becoming less and less suitable as the children get bigger and have more mobility needs - we are 'managing' at the moment but the day will come when this house is really not going to work for us - and that is just poo!
Sorry for going on - I just feel a bit carp ATM and needed to get it off my chest - if you got this far, thanks for reading!0 -

stilitwalker, you do a grand job. Honestly I know I couldn't cope. Whatever you decide to do for your family it is the right thing to do. Your DD sounds very clever and extremely special.
I was briefly on my own when me and oh separated over the mounting debts and arguments. I had a mini meltdown then, drank a bit (sorry). Then one day, lightbulb moment, went BR.. OH and me are back together and happier than ever.BSC member 137
