  • Ouch Princess, we had trouble with EDF too, today I rang BT as my phone line doesn't work, last time I phoned they insisted the fault was within my house, I had it checked out, my wiring inside is fine, phoned the BT faults line, had to punch in the number of line with the fault on, a recorded message informed me that the number was not a BT line and to contact my provider. They ARE my provider, and of course all I can speak to is a robot, grrr.
It took me almost 3 hours to get to speak to a human, same response, 'you aren't a customer of ours' despite giving them my account number.
Still all sorted now & I have a dial tone again!

Fuddle - I'd be tempted to phone said relative back and explain exactly what you've done and how you've tried to help. Whilst I appreciate you shouldn't have to defend yourself it might make you feel better to have explained it and have her know the whole story. Chin up x

Molly - hope your week improves, lots of rest x

Spoke to tax office, they said DH has been taxed on his £5900 worth of JSA....DH has never claimed JSA but said, pay me the £5900 and I'll happily pay a £700 tax bill! (they didnt find it amusing :() We now have to write to them to get them to "look into it". I really don't understand why we have to Do all the running when they're in the wrong but hey ho.

Mince, veg and gravy in the SC waiting for dumplings to be dropped in later.....smells delish.

Thus happened to me two years ago as Contributions ESA is taxable. I had to repay about £1000 but paid £100 a month for a year and it was repaid within a year.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I see some more items in the specials at Aldi's soon suitable for this time of year including what looks like a good slow cooker(in three colours)with extra features...approx £13(next Sun)I think.

Waterproofs this Thurs you'll stay dry but not warm.

I've stayed indoors today, its been raining all day and it still is and now its dark already.

I'm still hoping for some nice weather still before the year is out.

I'm thinking of a big trip in ten days to Alnwick in Northumberland(I can do it in approx 3 hours and if I leave early before 7am)be there by 11am, yet the next day it is more difficult to attend the local autumn event at Raby Castle which is nearer(usual problems with transport)On the Friday night before all this its the concert of The Osmonds I must get in shape. Hope there is a decent audience this time.

I may watch Jamie's show on the web but still don't think its very budget orientated. I believe its pork tonight. A poster on another thread here thinks that she is able to do better than JO and is going to try and post her own ideas/videos and costs and I think she'll succeed.

He's paid tax on his Contributions based ESA, that's listed on the letter....it's just they've decided to say he's had JSA too (he's never made a claim for JSA). They agreed on the phone it doesn't make sense but they're powerless to do anything until its in writing. It's scandalous that they can mess it up and just charge people for money they've never had. How many people would just pay it without question?

Brrrrrrrrr, it's chilli this evening, all the moggies are in their beds, purring and snoring away.

  • Morning all!

Hugs to Molly, Nutty and Shegar's Rosie.

    Congratulations, LynsayJane!

Princess--I've been there before. It is so frustrating! Even more so when the number you have to ring up costs you money! Might be time to contact them in writing.

Got loads done yesterday, hoping today will go as smoothly. Have to pop out in a bit for currency. Emailed a friend yesterday about how I was feeling a bit down and she's suggested when I get back we go to the hair academy for free hair cuts. Was thinking of doing it myself and she told me no one in their right mind gives a DIY haircut a go right before a big work event.:o I suppose she is right, so I'll practice french twists in the mean time!

We had courgette lasagne for tea last night and I got another batch of grated courgette into the freezer. Actually, I think one of my courgettes got a little carried away, it might have been closer to a marrow. It was bigger than my arm:eek: Nevermind, it works perfectly in the lasagne that way. Anyway, OH has it in his lunch today, but I forgot to pack some cutlery for him. Hopefully he can find something to use, otherwise that could be interesting.:rotfl:

It is definitely cooler here. When OH gets his first pay packet we'll be heading down to the used appliance shop for a microwave for porridge. It will also make it faster for me to heat up my lunch. I was against them for so long as I always had such tiny kitchens and would rather make porridge on the hob than give up my rolling/kneading space, but we had one in the last rental and it did make mornings easier as OH does the breakfast now. We also have plenty of rolling/kneading space in this kitchen.

Finally--I was having a bit of a bad day yesterday and managed to get a bit of bleach on a pair of trousers I wear to the gym. They were my favourite pair, and I am not above wearing them, orange spots on the bum and all--but I was wondering if it would work to dye them? I looked at replacing them (got them at TK M. and that won't be happening:eek:) They're mostly cotton but with a bit of lycra. I don't really fancy drawing attention to my bum with bleach spots if I don't have to!:o
  • Depending on the original colour of the trousers you could try permanent marker to colour in the spots, but don't wear them til the ink is dry or you will end up with a spotty bottom. Ask me how I know, go on, ask me, lol.

  • lol. They're black, Hester, but quite faded. I might give it a go. Slightly darker black can't be as bad as orange.

As for waiting for them to dry---I have done too many things like that in my time to laugh!

Morning everyone, its a very grey day here. DD only just managed to catch her bus, finally the bus company has decided to do a 5 day ticket. It saves about £1.50 a week, she pays for a child. Shhhhh she is 18 very soon!!

Loveig the idea of colouring the trousers, Ive done the wearing while colouring too. Ive even sewn up my trousers while wearing them.

Can anyone remember colouring the heals in with marker pens on there stilletoes and the pointy bit at the front???

Ive cleaned up the huge amount of cat poo from the gravel, and spent a whole pound on some cat repellent powder. If that fails I am borrowing a dog to scare it away!!!

Off to load the washer, have a good day everyone x

Princess I picked up a bit of clothing knowledge when I worked in a dry cleaners from college. It's great that your trousers are cotton. The cotton will absorb the dye no problem, the lycra will be a problem but if you're dying black, black then no harm will come to your trousers. The only issue will be that it won't effect them at all because of the synthetic lycra. I'd be tempted to give it ago ;)
  • Morning all,
loving the thought of these spotty bums, cheered me right up!

Not a good start to the work day, a colleague left something 'urgent' for me to do and when I had a problem and went to ask for guidance basically got the cold shoulder. Went to her boss for assistance and explained I'd asked. I appreciate her personality is a bit abrupt but there's no I in TEAM!

After a productive day yesterday today will be more restricted. Planning a swim after work, quick trip home for flying and tea before going out to a meeting that'll take the rest of the evening (but hopefully find out some exciting things about the part time job).

Cold up here again this morning, was so tempted by the heating but managed to get through!

Have a good Tuesday folks and hugs to anyone who needs them.
