Morning everyone, its a lovely sunny day already. Have to take DD for yet another blood test, then take mum to @ldi to do the shopping and then back home for an hour or two. DD is going to the town cinema today with her BF to watch the wolverine in 3d.

I have the next few days at work thurs and fri are 715am until 10pm so I will try and read as much as possible but will have to post Saturday. I am getting really tired now with all these extra hours. I will be acting manager too so no one else to take the flack.

Oh well think of payday, will be a nice one again.

    Take care everyone x

  • Morning everyone,

Nice quiet house today:D. Probably for the best, I will probably get more done today than I did all summer, what with the constant offer of cups of tea and distraction.

Pinkdebster, I hope you're feeling a bit better today, and that your nutritionist has some help to offer you. It sounds like a frustrating situation.

Mardatha, big hugs. I hope your son is through surgery and is beginning the healing process. I hope everyone involved is doing their job and looking out for his best interests, but I know you'll be advocating for him if not;)

VJsmum, thanks for the suggestions! I believe I'm staying very close to the market you suggested! My budget will be tiny while I'm away. Fortunately my breakfasts and lunches are all paid for. For dinner I'll either be trying to rub elbows or trying to smuggle something cheap up to my hotel room. The restaurant suggestions could come in handy.

Lyn, what a wonderful weekend of celebration. I do hope the lentil is on time, otherwise he may never hear the end of it from his mummy! My brother was two weeks late and my mum has always liked to tease him about it (all in good fun)!

Molly, how are you feeling? How did the skype chat go? I'd love to know how the animals responded to that!

Monnagran, the local press eh? Sounds like the rev is going for celebrity status. More seriously though, I hope you're holding up and that you find a resolution and a little peace and quiet soon.

Hooray for all of the little ones who enjoyed school yesterday. Good luck to those returning today.

I've packed OH's lunch, sent him with a tuna wrap instead of leftovers as he wasn't sure when he would get time to heat anything up. I think he also has about 5 snacks in his lunch box, trying to keep him away from the sugar machines in the staff room. If he packs his own lunch it is almost like he factors in a pack or two of Haribo:rotfl: Anyway, he looked so smart all dressed up. I will defrost some bagels for his snack when he comes in. In the meantime I'm going to enjoy a peaceful work day. Hugs to any and all who need them.

Son didnt get his op yet! They fed him at 9pm and told him he's fasting again this morning. Accident was around 3pm on Monday, so no wonder he's on an antibiotic drip. Am not impresses by their care.
Is nice and sunny here so am off out to play in the jungle.. real danger of getting lost in the chickweed :)
  • Forgot to say,

Princess, try this link--there were surgeries near us I didn't know about. You might be able to find one that isn't too far. As you can see, they have patient ratings. We're at our sixth furthest away because it was the closest one that had a better than 75% dissatisfaction rate!

Mar that doesn't sound right. It's being prolonged beyond reason now. How niave of me to think that the general populous is operated on quickly in an emergency. Keep us posted. It would be better for everyone if the healing process can actually begin huh Mar?

I would like to ask you what you all think about coffee? You know I'm a bit unstable. Anxiety, depressive tendancies, overactive thoughts and my need to be prepared and organised for everything eventuality that I can think of? Well that's me in a nutshell and I don't medicate for any of it just my dietry supplements. Normally I'm ok, a bit stressy at time but alright and functioning quite happily. Remember I said I was enjoying a few cups of coffee a day over the holidays? Well these past two days of getting ready for school I have been very frantic and almost manic, fuelled by the need to get to school all present and correct, neat tidy and organised... and get there early. I caught glimpses of the girls' faces as I was reaming fast instructions and knew I wasn't behaving right but couldn't stop it. I've home 45 minutes and still shaking. I'm having a camomile tea but feel like I could sleep.

I haven't noticed coffee effecting me at all over the holidays but I haven't needed be any where really. Do you think it could be the coffee making me over react? I can't pinpoint anything else that would get me so off balance.
  • Fuddle, I can only give my experience of coffee. When things are fairly calm and relaxed, then I'm fine with a couple of cups a day. When things get a bit stressful, then I find cutting back can help. The difference for me isn't anything profound or quick, but I do notice that cutting back on caffeine does gradually help ease some of those frantic feelings. However, I also find that it helps if I force myself to take a few moments for myself. Sometimes i just light a nice candle before I start work, or I'll put some music on..something like that. I usually have to remind myself it works as I'm apt to say "ohh, I don't have time for that nonsense!" but, of course, looking after yourself must be priority!

Unless you drink it by the bucketload, I wouldn't have thought coffee would do that. It does release adrenaline but if you were OK in the holidays then I think it is more that "back to school" thing. I don't drink any after about 4 pm as it keeps me awake - generally I have one cup of "decent" coffee per day (occasionally 2). By decent I mean made in a cafetiere (I realise other's opinion on decent may differ! :p), so it is probably stronger than instant. You could try decaf, or half caf and see if it makes a difference. Having said all that - I am on my second cup already - I think I have that "back to school" thing too :D

I am working at home today and have a lot of work to do.

So why am I here then? :o
I wanna be in the room where it happens
  • I agree with VJsmum Fuddle. I adore coffee and have 3 cups per day with the last being 3pm. I love peppermint tea if i'm a bit jittery and inhale the scent. Sounds daft but I think I associate this with taking a deep breath and calming down.

Mar, take care and I hope he gets his op today.

I've found some lamb's liver and some ancient broccoli in the bottom of the fridge. What can I do with it apart from dollop it on a plate together?

    Thanks for your feedback. :)

I think i'll stay clear of it anyway. Something wasn't right and if it happens without the coffee at least I know it's not the coffee and I'll need to go seek help.

I was up at 6.30. I had 2 hours to avoid the stresses :rotfl:

I wasn't keen on taking the sugar anyway. I can't drink coffee without it. I would have a coffee on waking and then another at 2pm. I would notice that after only a month of that routine I would get a headache and craving for the 2pm one if I didn't get it. I don't really like that. I think for me, I'd best stay clear and try to keep myself on an even keel. :) Thank you.

    Dreading tomorrow now :eek::rotfl::o

Can you help me with how to cook the frozen mackerel I was given? It's been filleted but whole mackerel. Thank you :)
