Son is in hospital waiting for op, he will lose two fingers, middle and ring I think. He phoned last night in a lot of pain although on morphine. Is worried sick about losing his job, and his van is still parked outside his work. Told him if he needs us to do anything we're here.

I hope your Son's surgery goes well, the last thing he needs to worry about at the moment is work. Big hugs and keep your chin up x

Mar - your poor son xxx take care, hopefully work will understand.
Fingers his crossed all goes well with his surgery :)
Molly lovely to hear from you :) Soon you'll be home x

Jem use the car, especially when it becomes to cold and wet! I kow we will be.

I've worked that between myself and the boys will be spending at least £40 just on travel to school and back. Not good at all.
Just hope mine and ds legs can hold out for a while longer. Doubt they will as i was agony walking home from stewarts park. As fuddle knows its not that far away from my house, 15 minute walk if that.

Have to go to the bank, was supposed to go yesterday but didn't. so instead will try again today. The train isn't due till 12:10 so will see how i feel then.
  • Good Morning all,
Mar - hugs to you and son, hope the op goes as well as it can do and that his work is understanding of his situation, a terrible thing to happen!
I have been up since 5am youngest woke when DH alarm went off for work so ended up watching Thomas the Tank engine on loop , I was very anxious too still am actually and will be until 3.15pm when I collect youngest from his first day at school. All 3 of them went back to school today but youngest started in Reception he doesn't cope with change very well and has speech issues, along with a few toileting ones - just a worry, I'm sure he will be fine, he gave me a kiss said he loved me too and ran in when they opened the door for them, which was good to see.
I have washed 2 loads and got them on the line hoping the wind keeps the rain clouds at bay for a few hours at least. Made a pork casserole and got it in the slow cooker, bread dough made in my birthday mixer (so much easier for me with having arthritis made the job so much quicker and pain free :)) now proving on the windowsill. Off to hoover through and put a few toys etc away, the house is eerily quiet without my 3 boys and is going to take some getting used to.
Hugs to those that need them, have a great day everyone x
Proud mummy to 3 beautiful boys! :D

Morning all, FUDDLE so pleased for you that the trip was a great success and that you like the area and would be up for the move, everything crossed for you that it comes off, exciting times eh?

MOLLY so pleased you are on the mend, keep up the good work and enjoy your fellow inmate, if you can!!!

Thank you all for your lovely wishes for us, we had such a lovely weekend, Friday we iced 160 cupcakes and we made bouquets, and flower arrangements for tables and the ceremony room , it all looked so pretty set out for the meal. Saturday we helped DD and the bridesmaids with hair and make up and getting ready and then took taxis to the venue and met the registrar and the man conducting the ceremony. I went downstairs to the ceremony room and it was full to bursting with her old schoolfriends and uni friends with husbands and wives and our families, I nearly cried when her Dad walked her to the front, she caught my eye and was welling up, so did I, oh it was such a happy moment. Bless her dear OH he tried to say her part of the ceremony as well as his own, the registrar was very kind and we didn't laugh too much,it was beautiful, they are so happy and love each other so much. The meal we had was delicious, she'd made us all a place marker from pebbles collected on our beach with individual names on, He Who Knows made everyone howl with laughter when he gave his Father of the Bride speech, the evening was such fun, with the ceileidh band and the dancing, catching up with all the friends and meeting new husbands and wives for the first time. DD2 gave me the best memory of the whole thing when the cake cutting was going to be done, she was nattering at the back of the room when the shout of where's the bride went up, and she cleared the way to the cake by tapping people on the shoulder with the words 'Make way for the wide Bride!!!' (her dress was a very wide and floaty skirted one) and the crowds parted, and she sailed through, such fun!!! we left them to it at 11ish, and slept very well that night. Monday was DD1s birthday so we took her out for a nice meal, Docky was very good in the kennel but very pleased to be back with us, and even more pleased to be back in his own home. It's nice to be back to routine again, and I'm looking forward to all the coming Autumn tasks, the jam and pickle making, clearing the garden, particularly the bonfires, and those crisp mornings and cooler evenings, it's been a very good summer, and I'm a very lucky woman!!!

MAR your poor son, I hope the operation is successful and that they have his pain relief under control by now. I also hope very much that his job is safe and secure, the last thing he needs to be causing him worry at a time like this is his employer!!!

FPK enjoy Sweden, I know you're going to be working but enjoy the place itself, I love it. Happy Anniversary to both of you and good luck to Mr FPK for his new start tomorrow in his new job, Look after yourselves, Cheers Lyn xxx.

STILTWALKER forgot to say well done to Little Miss Stiltwalker for being such a star on her first day at school, bet you were one proud Mum yes? Hope she has a lovely day and comes out full of enthusiasm and news, Lyn xxx.

Oh Mar, how awful for DS. Am I right in thinking it happened at work? If so I should think work are running scared they will be sued. It might be an idea (if it happened at work) to contact HR yourself and make sure all the relevant accident report forms have been completed. I'm sure that someone on here works in HR and could help with this, but can't remember who.
DS started secondary school this morning, I hope everything is going OK. He comes home by bus this afternoon, the first time he's done anything like that on his own. I think I'm far more nervous than him though.
  • Lyn so sorry - I KNEW there was someone else I needed to mention! Glad you had a wonderful day and wishing your DD a wonderful married life - X
  • Hi all.

Thank you for the supportive messages about the gp surgery. I will be complaining because this isn’t the first time I’ve been let down by them. I would look for another one, But the next nearest one is a longer distance which would mean more travel expense for us should we need to attend.

MRSLW wow, the wedding sounds magical. How amazing. Glad you all had a lovely time.

Mar, Your poor boy. Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery and get back on his feet.

Doing a wash load atm, Decided that the bedroom could do with a clean so whipped the bedding off and have that rising.
Doggers are really trying my patience today. Neither are listening, Both seem to be running around like loons and both have now been sick.

Off to get the washing on the line, BBL. Take care all x
    Future goals:
    Become debt free.
    Beat Depression.
    Be happy & healthy

    Afternoon All,
So many lovely stories of first times or changes of schools(mixture of being proud)but the realisation that "Our" children are growing up and gaining their independence.

Another lovely story about Lyn's DD's wedding too.

But for those with problems to solve and worries more hugs to be sent.

Mar your son's well being, treatment comes first and getting over the shock before everything else and it could be a genuine accident that could not be avoided because of something the work place neglected but following on from Possession's post and by coincidence this news story came in via Twitter...

Maybe not read it Mar. Now is not the time to read about compensation and daily struggles. Get over the shock and look after yourselves as a family. Your son will get through this, he'll adapt and technological advances are happening as we speak with prosthetics and working ones not just for appearance. I saw a couple of months ago a full working hand transplant. I'm sure I'm not helping am I? Sorry Mar, I just don't want you read stuff and go off crying. it's an awful situation but a one that can be worked through, as with everything you just have to find a way and take time.

Lyn lovely stories of happy times. I think you have enough of happiness to inject you through the winter eh? When is lentil due?

While I have been waiting for my 2 tyres to be fitted (ouch but birthday money has gone towards it) I wandered on the search for cheapo winter hats for the children people. H&M sale pink, £1 each :D Job done. ;)

Ok, I have to admit. I took the girls to school today... it wasn't open. The date I had in my diary was from the school back where I used to live. Tomorrow here - I have to go through the whole first day frantics again tomorrow. :(
