Monnagran - why shouldn't the rev apply for it? It's a free country and she can! I would.
Also it's possible that somewhere, the homeless need you more than they do where you are now. Might be somewhere with no help at all for them, and they desperately need you.

    Good Morning toughies,

I've been trying to keep up with the reading even when I can't post :)

NUTTYP, hope your Mum continues to improve, what a worry on top of anything else.

mONNAGRAN, you and the Rev must feel very worn down with all that is going on, but you will come out the other side and move on with your lives and be loved and appreciated wherever you find yourselves next.

MRSLW, enjoy the forthcoming nuptials, hope you have a fantastic time. How lovely looking at clothes for tinies!

KEZ, you are obviously a wonderful Mum and it doesn't matter how old someone is when they have their children. I was in my thirties when mine were born, not by choice but after years of trying and they were all the more precious for that.

Hope Fuddle is loving Dorset. Looks like the weather will be kind for the week and that always helps you see a place in a good light, especially if you are camping.

Have already got a large batch of soup on the go and will be making breadsticks with DD18 later, inspired by last night's GBBO. Might put some fresh rosemary in some as I don't have any dried at the mo. hope it will work ok.

Need to find time to go blackberrying this week, it's a favourite jam here.

    Have a good day all.
  • Good morning all

fairyprincesssk my youngest sister has a futon and would not swop it for anything although she is pregnant and might not be saying that when she is heavily pregnant.

kezlou I am so glad the day out went well and that you all enjoyed yourselves.

savingqueen once I have finished off our decorating I will down paintbrush for some considerable time. Got up this morning and sanded then undercoated the downstairs loo. It will be ready for glossing at 4pm but the hairdresser is coming at 5pm so it might not get done today.

    monnogram is madathas suggestion viable?

Have been to the doc and my blood pressure is normal this time :j still on meds) and does not need checking for 6 months. Going to have lunch now and then go for my physio.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

It seems to be the blackberrying week here, we got 2lbs yesterday, and lots of rabbit forage to dry for winter at the same time. I wish I really knew what I was doing though, I'm teaching myself but realistically it's going to be a while before I know enough to recognise the right plants.
On a domestic note, my Vax vacuum which had already been replaced once by Amazon blew up yesterday. I definitely don't want another Vax, and I can't pay much. Would anyone recommend the reconditioned Dysons you can get on ebay?

Good to hear the blood pressure is normal Mrs VP.
Monnogran hang in there. It will work out.
  • Hi everyone.

NuttyP: Sorry to her about your poor mum, I have her in my thoughts & I wish her a full & speedy recovery. What quick action everyone took from you getting her to the hospital to the staff quickly recognising what was wrong!!

I’ve been off my medication now for 17 days, Thanks to the total mess up my doctors surgery have created. My head is all over the place, The dizzy sensation is driving me insane. It doesn’t help that my mood is continuous low and every little thing is making me cross!

I have written a letter of complaint to the surgery however someone has decided not to respond.

Hope everyone is having a better day than me J

I was wondering if anyone has some simple recipes for the following?

    Chocolate brownies
    Apple turnovers
Homemade BBQ sauce IE, Similar to Harvesters? OH has gone mad with it.

Also, OH & I are looking for some OSMSE treats. My FIL has his 65th birthday coming up and although Mil is making / doing a buffet, OH would like to make some mini-sized treats to take with us. Anything with NUTS is a no-no, As there is 2 people with serious reactions?

Lots of Brownies here but its deciding whether to stick to the usual type or something that's different(and which contain no nuts or something else can be substituted)

    Apple Turnovers here

I hope that you soon feel better PRINCESSX87. No one should be taken off meds suddenly so whatever the reason its wrong, I ran out of one of mine and feel it has affected me.

  • Hi Princess,

This is my standard brownie recipe. It isn't exactly cheap with all of the butter in it, but it comes out lovely every time. Sorry, it is in US measurements! The oven conversion works out at about 170. HTH.

    One Bowl Brownies
    1/2 cup butter
    1 cup sugar
    1/4 cup cocoa
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    2 eggs
    1/2 cup flour
    1/4 tsp b. powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
Melt butter in a heat safe bowl. Add sugar and cocoa and stir until well mixed. Add vanilla and egg and stir. Add dry ingredients, stir thoroughly but do not over-mix. Bake at 325 for 20-30 mins
  • Thanks popperwell, Kezlou & FPK.

Will give all of them a try!! I'm a rubbish baker therefore, I may need more than one attempt lol xx

Mrs LW - thank you for asking after me and my doggies. We are just plodding along and psyching up for hospital on Sunday. I could have launched Molly into outer space on Monday as she was up all night - she does this very occasionally ever since she was a pup and just will not settle and paces around the house and gardens. It is down to me to deal with as husband can never wake up in the night - once a child was sick all over him and he stayed fast asleep. He genuinely can not wake up as he is mortified the next morning when I regale him of the tales of the night before!

Anyway hope you are all doing ok x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
