  • Mr VP is finishing off the final coat of paint in the dining room as I type :j. He will do the papering tomorrow and we can start reconstructing the two rooms. Next will be the glossing in the downstairs loo, the ceiling and glossing in the kitchen and then the hall, stairs and landing.

There must have been some very busy people over the BH weekend as DD1 said they were inundated today with donations at the charity shop she volunteers at.

In an effort to use up some of the cabbage from the lottie I steamed some chopped cabbage, fried 4 rashers of chopped smoked bacon with a chopped onion and then mixed it all into a pan of mashed spuds. I topped it off with a little grilled cheese and served it with veg and every plate was empty. Will definitely be making that again. We are having the leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

I have got the docs tomorrow morning for a blood pressure check as despite being on mediation when it was checked 4 weeks ago it had gone up . I have lost 7lb in the last 4 weeks but need to loose more. I have then got my back physio in the afternoon and the hairdresser is coming to do my hair, both DD's and my niece. I doubt I will get much decorating done. I have however managed to get the kitchen and hall back in order and cleaned.

I might not be getting much rest on my 2 weeks summer leave but I am enjoying sorting the house out.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.
  • Evening all,

Just a quick pop in as its been a busy day and I'm shattered.

OH and his dad moved the futon. It will be a sofa most of the time but now it means we can have our friends and family from afar to stay. OH's parents bought it about 10 years ago and they bought quality so it is in good shape and is reasonably comfortable. They now have a spare room with a proper bed in since OH and his sister are all grown so they weren't using it. We're really excited to have it! OH and his dad did a few other things that needed doing and then they came round for tea, just something simple and I used my blackberries in a crumble with some apples. It wasn't bad for my first attempt, OH liked how tart it was but I think I should up the sugar slightly next time. They had holiday snaps and stories to share so it was a nice evening, although you'd never know we're the young ones as we both needed match sticks by the evening and his parents were still going strong.

Right, hugs to any who need them. I've sent you a pm Ginny.

Nutty: I hope all goes well for your Mum. I think car parking at hospitals is criminal. I once had to drive round and round for 25 minutes looking for an expensive space. I followed a woman doing the same thing. I saw her later in the waiting room and she was wearing a 24 hour blood pressure monitor. I should think it was off the scale by the time she got in to have it checked. Anyway, all the best, it's an anxious time isn't it?

Mrs LW: those clothes sound gorgeous. Isn't it lovely being able to buy littlies clothes again. My only other Grandaughter is 17 so I wouldn't dare! After having only sons and grandsons the absolute joy of little girls' clothes makes me sort of lose my head in shops. I have to be very strict with myself or Mia wouldn't have time to wear all the clothes I'd like to buy.

We've had a low day today. People are incredibly kind and determined to keep the Rev if they possibly can, but today we felt so tired that we really felt we couldn't fight anymore. We are inundated with messages, cards and flowers, everyone is so upset that we feel we will be letting them down. The irony is that we received a suggested profile which the 'powers-that-be' are intending to use in their search for a new minister. It describes the Rev to a T and she said rather bitterly that she wonders if she would get her own job back if she applied for it.
Well, I'm feeling a bit more philosophical tonight and think that what will be, will be. I'm only teary when I think of not seeing Mia every couple of days. She changes almost hourly at the moment and I'm going to miss all that.

    Enough gloom.
Perhaps I'll get an early night.

Just a thought. I wonder how Fuddle is getting on in her tent. I hope she has a good few days, if anyone deserves it she does.

FairyP: I love the futon that will be a sofa most of the time. Reminds of a poem about an occasional table that was only occasionally a table. Sometimes it was a chair or a lamp............

Monogran try not to let them get you or the rev down. Some people are ju malicious. Just think of all the help you've given and, still are. The beach couple will hold a special place in they hearts just for you.

I havent heard, from fuddle yet, but I'm assuming they prob settling in for the might. Its heck of a drive from up here even without stops. Just hope they all alright.

Nutty aw hun, you arrived well in time for your mum. Sometimes your best off driving to the hospital than waiting. I know it sounds silly but you probably saved her a lot of stress and worry and, the drive probably calmed her down. So don't kick yourself.

Lynn awww the clothes sound so sweet awwww

Bun bun what a great holiday you all had!

Pops honestly I'm sat I'm bed feet under a cushion and I feel the pressure slowly easing.

Fpk we used to have,a futon for a sofa, very multi functional and were devastated when it finally broke. Took years of abuse and was used many times in its 7 year old life. Thats what were having tomorrow apple bramble crumble.

Had a fab day at flamingo land, kids loved it. I did myself in on this cycle ride, do in total agony. we didn't spend anytime with my sis, not in a bad way. Just split into three groups and our went on the extreme rides. nana got tortured by her grand kids so we were on stitches.

I saw three of the women, two of which were on our coach. All the kids say together

Sit together but the women wouldn't let them. One woman(who called ds2 thick) gave up and just left her son sat with ds2. Then it transpired they were on the wrong bus so had to move.
I was being perfectly civil they glared so I just smiled said hello to the children. In the mix up of moving ds2 friends got left on our coach. it was only got a couple of mintues but I would have been freaking. So I took and find his mum, she looked shocked, worried when I called her name and said I've found him he was our coach. what can I say I'm a fool but its awful when a child goes missing. Couldn't do that to my worst enemy.

My friend went and enjoyed herself in the non extreme ride group. Howled ay me totally soaking from the log ride. We all had a fab day and the weather was superb :)

Hugs to you and the rev monnagran. A good night's sleep can work wonders, hope you feel brighter tomorrow.

Glad you had fun kez and being you, did what was best for a child and found his/her mum, nothing else mattered. You are a great mum!

Fairy - hope your futon has many happy occasions! Re-reading that doesn't sound quite right... but you will know what I mean I think!

Mrs VP - you sound like you deserve a day off the decorating anyway. How much do you charge, I have a few weeks worth if you fancy it? :D

Welcome back bunbun and hello marie

AOT hope the rest of your week is less stressful

I think I bit off more than I can chew with social stuff this week seeing various friends from today to next Mon non stop (apart from Sunday) so I invited my "Thursday" friend to join my "Wednesday" friends so I can chill/catch up at home on Thurs and boys get some down time too. We will be a mixed bag tomorrow, no-one knows anyone other than me so hope they all get on. I am getting better at "mix and matching" my mates and not worrying about it and I have met some lovely new people through a friend who naturally does the same.

You know where an insect bit me today? Yes right on the bottom and I have a lovely big lump to prove it :D

    night night

  • Morning!

The OS doorstep slipped down off the front page, I wondered where you had gone! We must not be talking enough!:rotfl:

Thanks for all of the futon best wishes

SQ I hope it isn't too much of a good time:eek:

Mona, what a nice poem. I googled it and it had me smiling about getting the wardrobe off the bus. OH always gets this fearful look in his eye before I go in the CS with furniture for fear I'll want to bring something home on the bus.

Kez I hope you enjoy your crumble as much as the futon:)

Mrs LW, what fun buying for the lentil!

NuttyBig hugs, I'll be thinking about your mum.

Right, I had lots of distractions during my work day so I'll be working hard today, also need to squeeze in a gym visit.
  • MONNAGRAN you and the Rev are stuck between a rock and a hard place, that is never an easy situation whatever the cause. I'm so sad for you that you are both feeling guilty and that by being human and feeling that it's all too much, including the outpouring of sympathy and support you are getting unsolicited from the parishoners, you feel as if you are letting them down. You have no choice in the matter, none of it is of your making, you have no control of the outcome, how could it possibly be in any way your fault to the point of making you feel guilty? I pray for you both and those of your congregation who are troubled and hurting, I pray for peace and acceptance for them and a speedy decision for you from those who are guiding your futures. What is the biggest unsettling factor for you all is the uncertainty and not knowing, it makes for a great deal of unhappiness and resentment until you have the answer to 'what if?' Once you do know what is going to happen, there will still be cross folks if the outcome is not the one they hoped for but with decision comes acceptance and settling of troubles and doubts. I pray for a golden future for you two as well, as innocent victims of beaurocracy I would love you to go on to a much happier time in your lives, some peace and a while to stand in the sunshine eh? Consider yourselves hugged, Love Lyn xxx.
