Possession, your bunnies are beautiful. I had a pet rabbit as a child and have loved them ever since though never had another. Brilliant to hear you are giving them a loving home with the space they need.

DH's fish pie was delicious, think I will have him cooking more often!

Fuddle - if you get to come on here before you go - have a fun time camping, bet the girls will love it!

DH was asking what we talk about on the forum. I said all sorts, what we have been up to that day, recipes, veggie growing, pets, kids, that kind of thing. He thought it sounded boring (sorry) .... I didn't even get on to things like winter prepping, knitting, preserving and the myriad of other stuff that gets discussed. He does like to tease me though and he knows about important these forums are to me so he is forgiven. In some areas he has always been thrifty in other areas, he is getting more on board and supportive too. I feel encouraged to slowly branch out to do new OS things like growing food. There is still so much for me to learn and I feel the need to make some plans to put into action once the kids are back at school.

Aw your rabbits are so cute :)

Lynn I'm so sorry your daughter had been through so much. Luckily she had a wonderful caring mother and father spring her every syrup of the way.

    Kidcat enjoying her holiday :)
Fuddle enjoy yours chick, alfie will be fine and spoilt rotten!!!

Thank you all so much, for all the support and, the information regarding ss.
I've decided to phone up ds2 school and see about booking a meeting with the senco, teacher, deputy head and school social work liason officer. hopefully I can get this before school term begins if not on the first day.

If amy complaints are put forward by D fingers crossed my.notes from counselling and the gp will be checked before anything goes ahead.
Both of my children are always covered in bruises. Ds2 regularly comes home with stickers saying "I've bumped my head" oh and that doesn't count the phone calls telling me hes hurt himself.

I'm scared because she knows certain people in the school from when her eldest was there. She built up relations and I'm sure my medication will be spoken off.
So I think if I get there first hopefully I can stop anything
Went to watch OH on the treat race, he came 245 out of 1000 so were really pleased. Lads went on the climbing wall and bouncy.castle, luckily it was free to go on. Managed to dodge the pub and to visit family and with they dogs before coming home. So yeah been a relaxing day all round :)
I'm sorry just my anxiety playing up.

Oooooh Floss, I do envy your talent, well done you.

Kez: You come across as an absolutely super person and so you must be a super Mum. And I bet you were a super Mum at 17 too. Age has nothing to do with it, it's all about the love and commonsense you have.
As to that coven of so called friends - don't give them the time of day flower. If this is all they can think of to brighten their lives just pity them. They are poor specimens of humanity.

As to worrying about what people think of your house etc. I maintain that I have been put on this earth to make people feel better about themselves. When they leave me they must go home and congratulate themselves that they are better than me.
The lovliest kitchen I know belongs to a friend to whom MSE isn't so much a way of life, more a religion. She has a cooker that must belong to the fifties, a battered old Aga, an ancient clothes rack over the Aga, a table that always has a bright tablecloth on it, not as part of the decor but because the table is so old and chipped underneath. a selection of oddly mismatched cupboards and shelves and the walls are covered with children's pictures and poems, cards, bits cut out of newspapers, old bits of craftwork etc. Everyone comes into it for the first time acting like the Bisto kids, ooohing and ahhhing. You couldn't plan a kichen like that, it has evolved over about 50 years.

As I say, I like to give people something to feel superior about. It's my service to humanity. Really!

Fuddle: Happy packing and have a wonderful time.

Kez, I think you ought to move down South too. We could all have a great time.

We have the Scooter rally here this weekend. 6,000 scooters on this little Island make quite an impact. They've been buzzing around like a swarm of angry bees for the last 2 days.

    Enjoy the Bank Holiday everyone.

Lordy, I can hardly keep up with what's been posted since yesterday, let alone the last three weeks!

It's our silver wedding tomorrow and we have a party for family and original wedding guests on Sunday next. So I'll be a tad busy this week getting ready for that. So I'll try and pop in every now and then but will mostly have to wave from a distance (at least I hope I'll be waving, not drowning)

Love to all and hugs to those as needs 'em
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

  • Morning all,

Kezlou, I wouldn't worry about the bruises. People who work with children know where happy, active children get bruises. People who are trained to detect abuse also know where normal children do not get bruises and what kinds of bruising to look for. The odd bruise on the head or bruising on the legs/knees, forearms and elbows is pretty standard on active happy kids. It is when they start seeing children who refrain from participating because they are trying to conceal pain in odd places, like say the abdomen, or are constantly afraid of being in trouble that they start to take notes. Much like with the scruffiness factor, they aren't looking for a kid with dirt on the knees of their trousers after play time, they're looking for an indication that the kid hasn't been given clean clothes for days or weeks on end. Furthermore, although it may appear to you that D is known and respected around the school, trust me, sometimes parents are known for things you wouldn't expect in a school. My family is full of teachers and you'd be surprised how quickly they pick up on parents like you who are doing a good job and how quickly they suss out what people like D are really about. They may not let in, in fact, the most professional ones won't ever say anything about the other parents to you, but they will know.

MaryB, congratulations! What a long and lovely marriage!

Jem, it sounds like you really made the most of the situation. Enjoy those winter boots;)

I'm feeling a bit anxious about work today. Fortunately, I think today my task can probably be done in the garden, and when I finish I've promised myself a lovely walk. I may carry a little bag or box and see if there are any blackberries to be had. If I can find enough I'll do a crumble for OH's parents tomorrow.

Notjustlaura you'll probably find that gardening mags are geared up to the south of England, and things won't grow up here the way they're supposed to in the mags .. ask me how I know this !

That thought has been niggling at me, Mardatha. How much adjustment does one need to make? At the moment, I'm planting things in the cold frame and greenhouse that say in the mags/on the packet that they should be put outdoors at this time of year. I'm also taking care to write in the diary what I've done so I can monitor the results and learn from them. All advice is gratefully received ...
