Elona - fingers crossed this can be treated quickly and painlessly for your DH, hugs x
Well done on all the fantastic results. DD2 didn't do fantastically in maths with a D and statistics was an E!!! I think we shall get her dropped from that one pretty sharpish when she goes back. She got a C in English which she's pleased with (as are we).
Picked up the plants from Inlaws, FIL tried lifting one very heavy pot when I wasnt ready and I've wrenched my shoulder, took half a codeine for the pain and slept for 5 hours!!! Feel very groggy now. I'm delegating dinner prep and cooking to DDs, the advantage of having teenagers.
ETA. MOS - hope moggy is ok x"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
GINNY that's terriers for you. We always had Border Terriers before we got the Dockling for our friend. They are feisty beings and think they are bigger fiercer more scary doggies than they actually are on the outside. We used to race ours at the country shows and manys the time I've watched He Who Knows standing at the end of the race track (the finish is a gap between 2 bales of hay which the terriers have to run through) catch one of ours with at least two others hanging onto its back legs and then having detached them juggle 3 very 'up for it' terriers until thier owners came to relieve him of them. The number of times he got it wrong and caught the back end so the front end could reach of his hand to bite him is without counting and his big complaint on the way home in the car was that I always made him wait until last for the dettol wash and antiseptic cream treatment! Priorities, do the ones who can't talk first and say shut up dear to the ones who can!!! Love terriers to bits though and really miss having one around, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Just want to say very well done to all the GCSE'rss:T
Arthritis flare-up making everything difficult and painful (even typing). Thanks for all the good wishes.
And to Monnagran and the Rev - I'm a member of a church congregation and have experienced how crazy things can be - praying for you both.:)Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Evening all,
Congrats to all of those with their GCSE results.
Hugs to all of you.
Spent ages out in the garden, but still doesn't look like I did much. However, all of the veg for our tea was grown by myself. Very proud moment. Ok, so it was only two courgettes, a few salad onions and some parsley, but still.:D
OH has found a film on iplayer that looks good so we'll settle down with that. The kitchen is mostly rodent proof, but I've run out of chew proof containers so will have to figure something out tomorrow. OH has put down traps and contacted the landlord. My project tomorrow is to go around the house "thinking like a mouse" to see if we have anything that looks like good shelter. At the moment the only thing I can think of is a pile of clean towels in the bedroom. I was trying to get us to use them all the way down the pile and do a vinegar wash each time so they'd all be refreshed and we werenlt just using and washing the top few. Typing it out like that makes me sound strange. Ok, well I am strange.;)
Today I got the last of the sofa blankets washed, did my dressing gown and things like that. Should be warm tomorrow so have convinced OH to take the lounge curtains down for me so I can wash those. Much easier if he does it as he is a full four inches taller and can just reach them from a chair, whereas I'd have to drag a table in.:rotfl: He has taken the initiative to have a go at the carpet in there. That room still smells a bit odd, since we've moved in. He suggested running down to the shop for some shake and vac  But I talked him off that ledge and handed him some bicarb I got two for one ages ago.
All of you with enthusiastic dogs--I don't think I'd manage. I think I'm the sedate cat type. We had a border collie for awhile when I was growing up, but he was mostly my brother's dog.0 -
Had a busy day today and now feeling absolutely carp and my legs are killing me, may have to head to my bed soon! Hope this CFS eases off soon as I am sooooooooo fed up with it already.
Well, picked up naughty cat from the vest, he needed to be put u der general and also needed an endoscopy to find the offending articles......turns out he had a large 6 inch piece of grass stuck in his throat and a 4 inch piece stuck in his nasal passage???? The vets very kindly gave me the grass as I had paid so much for it, total cost was £243  Puddy still isn't feeling great though as he is just sitting on the patio watching the world go by but since I 'saved' him from the nasty grass earlier, I am his very favourite person today by tomorrow he won't be feeling quite so generous towards me :rotfl:
I think I have developed a mild allergy to the cats, puddy rubbed all around my face when he came home and tried to sit on my shoulders but within 5 minutes my nose was streaming, itching eyes and I had a sore throat......all a little odd really as we have had cats for years and I have never reacted like this before?
Bought my youngest DD a treat for doing so well.........a packet of twix bites, yes we know how to live here and it cost me a whole £1! She loved them tho0 -
Congratulations to all those with exam results.
With apologies to Docky (and ear scrits galore) - you may have gone off n'orsies but we may be about to stark raving horse mad here at chez stilty! DD has been for her very first proper riding experience today, physio run some summer sessions and she got to go up to the RDA stables and have a riding lesson this morning! They put her on a horse..... yes I mean a horse.... not a pony, a horse - he was blummin huge! with my little dot perched on the top smiling and waving! Both the physio and I have far more grey hairs this evening than we did this morning. They started off leading her round with physio holding her and making sure she didn't fall off, about 10 minutes in she was sitting so confidently physio let go and she was still fine - even confidently waving at me on the way past each time (hence the grey hair as we urged "two hands DD, hold on tight" as she was casually waving and looking around). 10minutes after she got off the horse we were booking her in starting on Saturday and this afternoon we had to venture out to the country store for 'special trousers' like the lady. She spent the rest of the afternoon playing with 2 plastic horses from a farm set and traipsed off happily to bed clutching the larger one of them (which is going to be dam* uncomfy if she rolls over onto it in the middle of the night, but she was not going to be parted from it), oh and even the bedtime story had to have a horse in it!
It's been a good day all round as the chair that DS was assessed for back in April finally arrived! And we got a new word from him too - wouldn't you guess it though, it was "horse"!!!!
Got another nice day out planned tomorrow with some new friends - a parent support group we've just joined - at Newby Hall in Ripon so up early to sort stuff and pack picnic.
Also got the mark for my last TMA for current module and it is good enough to give me a grade 2 pass for my continuous assessment bit - just need to knuckle down to the project now and get a decent mark in that and that will be one more done an I'll be 2/3 of the way through my degree!!
Hope you are all well and sending out hugs to all who need or want one.
Reading back, this is a lovely positive post - amazing the difference a day or two makes! Thanks for listening to my stuff - good, bad and grumbly!0 -
Evening all,
Congrats to all the GCSE students and their proud parents/aunties etc. :j
SDG - tell your OH/family that you would like a surprise for your birthday or failing that vouchers. If it's a surprise they can't ask you again and if they are stuck they can buy vouchers. If they protest, say you trust their judgement, then promptly change the subject and remember an urgent appointment (a soak in the bath?) Hopefully that would shut them up and leave you in peace.
MOS - poor kitty and poor bank balance. Hope both recover soon!
FairyPrincess - well done with the veggies, be proud! We have less than you, 2 lonely tom plants but they are a start. From small seeds (or is that acorns?) and all that...
Naughty posh cat is sleeping on my laptop cover on a side table where he isn't allowed... and I haven't the heart to move him.
Had a lovely day out, even the uniform/shoe shopping as had DH with me for a change so the event was calmer with a 2nd pair of hands. Good film and carvery meal. Boys had never been to a carvery before and enjoyed choosing their meat and vegs etc and tucking in to exactly what they wanted. Thought we had finally filled DS9 to capacity and a couple of hours later both boys ate a big plate of pizza each!!
Decided this eve that I will need to start on a few projects: loosing weight, declutteriing and stepping up the OS/MSE ways as have relaxed these a lot during the school holidays though not lost my way entirely
just lost a post, pressed a random button or something daft so sending this right now... tbc0 -
stiltwalker - what a brilliant day in so many ways. Thanks so much for sharing it all - DD's riding (wow!) and DS's clever new word, the chair and TMA result.

STILTWALKER - Hi Helen, what a wonderful experience for the little lady, how amazing for her to take to riding like a duck to water, it will dominate life for a while and if you spend as much time hanging about stables as I did with my two you'll be horse savvy very quickly. My youngest rode at least once a week until GCSEs took over her life and there was no time for anything else, but oh how I loved it all, the smell and sound of horses is still magic, happy days enjoy every single one of yours!!! Docky says he doesn't mind horses with people sitting on them, he just doesn't like horses on thier own in fields, but the eary scritches are very much appreciated, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Just a tiny moan... went to Jeremy Clark(son)s shoe emporium today. DS9 needed school shoes. The staff should make customers (or the paying ones anyway, not their charges) sit down before they tell you the prices and have smelling salts handy.
£45. One pair of children's shoes.
DS9 also needs trainers soon and DS6 is nearly up a half size. Assistant tried to sell me trainers for DS9 (old ones are nearly new and barely half a size difference) and DS6 hasn't even reached the next half size yet. Then shoe cleaners, shoe protectors and a diamond encrusted shoe bag (ok the last one wasn't entirely true) I said quite plainly I was only buying one pair today and still the sales push.
We have a factory outlet a bit of a drive away but with 2 pairs of clarksons trainers and 1 pair of school shoes to buy soon, I think I will chance the petrol. Boys only have school shoes, a pair of pe plimsoles, a pair of trainers and wellies and that is more than enough to fork out for.
Good job the cats don't need shoesthat would be 4 pairs (for 2 cats) unless cats' shoes came in quads then I guess 2 quads. What am I talking about? Time for bed I think!
night all
