Poor Docky, I hope he's OK.

Mrs Chip, so sorry to hear about Mr Al. You've reminded me of having to cut up worms for our little baby bird we found when I was a teenager. Sadly he died too.

I hope the furore dies down Monnogran, and peace returns and you have a nice place to live.

Haven't been around much but have been reading! We had a bit of a surprise at the weekend when I agreed to take in 2 rescue rabbits - they're Continental Giants and they're huge even though they're only 6 months old. We have them in our buns' chicken coop temporarily which is far too small for them but much better than 3'6 square hutch where they were kept and couldn't even lift their ears up. We're converting the shed for them so soon they'll have a lot more space. Tomorrow I need to get them into a (large) carrier to take them to the vets which I'm really not looking forward to.
  • Mrs LW, gentle treats for docky and hugs and black coffee for you.

    Kezlou, here you go

I should mention--I make double batches as it is not much more work and makes it a bit more worth it.:o

On SM shops--right now there are vouchers in ascending order for number of online orders from Oc@do. I used a first time yesterday which as £20 off 80, so if you're looking to do a stock up look on the mysupermarket site for them. There were a few things more expensive than the other SM, but not loads and it still worked out substantially cheaper to go with them.

As for the sainsbobs vouchers--there are a few things that are more expensive at Ald! and I'd probably use it to stock up on those. Bread flour is pricier as Ald! only do Allinsxns and not an own brand. You may also be able to get sugar at a cheaper rate, price per unit, by buying a bigger bag at Sainsbobs. I'd also look at tins that they don't sell at Ald!, like chickpeas, and restock spices I couldn't get cheaper elsewhere. Might also be a good chance to stock up on things for that big December celebration that starts with a C.

Right, time to get the washing on the line and enjoy some lunch. Hugs to any and all.
  • Thanks everyone, he's finally laid down, not on any of the nice soft blanket nests I've dotted round the ground floor, but right in front of the open back door, at least he's stopped shaking now and dribbling all over the place, poor old boy, thank you all for your good wishes and gentle hugs for him, much appreciated!!!

POOKY hope fluffy kitten is Ok after free range home killed birdie for supper, worrysome isn't it being a pet owner, but life would be less without them, yes? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Lyn I am so sorry for poor docky Bella sends her love woof woof.

You are all welcome anytime although the boys are saying they are going to make a big wireless out of a big box to cover up our tv as they didn't have tvs in the war bless them see how long it lasts.

We are going to make ration cards and take them shopping to see what we can get for the week they are really running with this one and I only did it to get them to try potato fryed and veg soup they love porridge made with water soaked over night with blackberries mixed through.

They are so good when I think how bad things are sometimes with ds9 I will think back to these days and be thankful my boys are so much better with no outside influence. It's untrue I have been looking at home ed and am seriously considering it the only problem is my dyslexia. I worry I can't learn them all they need.
I have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar

Phew, just back from the morning at the vetty persons place. Poor Docky dog got kicked by a horse this morning when He Who Knows had him off lead on the morning walk. The initial thorough check doesn't indicate broken bones or internal damage but he's very lame on his left back leg and in shock, poor, poor old boy!!! He's had a big opiate pain killer injection which should have knocked him out for the day but he's fighting it and shaking like a leaf but is standing on all four feet, so at least that's a positive. He Who Knows had to carry 17 kilos of dog from the beach to the tarmaced road where my lovely kind neighbour had driven me in her 4 x 4, bless her. Both of the menfolk are now feeling at least more settled in this house, it's just me having an oh er moment, I need some strong black coffee, life gets tedious somedays doesn't it? Lyn xxx.

oh my goodness, poooor poor docky! I can sympathise thoroughly as I was kicked by a horse many moons ago. I was walking on a footpath through a field with horses in and one of them dashed up and lashed out with its back legs. dont know how I hobbled back to the road (the days before mobiles so i couldnt ring for help) and got home, think I was so shocked I didnt feel any pain but I rememebr my leg being very shaky and numb. xrays showed there was no break but I had an impressive bruise for weeks and still have a horseshoe shaped dent in that thigh muscle. it could have been so much worse and hopefully its the same for docky boy. poor poor lad must wonder what hit him! Lots of TLC and pamperin g for him (as usual :)) and for you too Lyn, be kind to yourself and take it slowly for the rest of the day.

SLUUUUURPS from teh labradorz fer docky!!!

Fairy Princess thank you the recipes, will try them later!!!

jem - your being a fab parent, i'm slightly dyslexic with maths, my OH is severely dyslexic and we think it makes us work harder at being better parents.

I also suffer from depression, anxiety, did another asd test and now gp thinks i'm high functioning autism. Brilliant eh?!
OH is blatantly high functioning asd and so are our boys, both of them asd and one hypermobility.

This is why i think my boys love mucking around and one idea will keep them going for days.

You are a fab parent and doing more than your best with your kids!

Myself, i'm just all over right now as normally i have two boys and my OH around me constantly vying for attention.
But i have been sort of good, tided round the living room, stripped the chicken and got stock on the go. All three of my cats are chilling in the house even though the back door is wide open. Strange animals.
  • ALFSMUM it was a bizarre set of circumstances with poor old Docky this morning, he was out on his morning walk along the river with his dad and they were crossing a field that had previously had horses in but, they'd been moved out. Halfway across the field they realised that the gate to the adjoining field was open and the horse came through at full gallop, chased by a cow!!! Really, you couldn't make it up! It ran straight at Doc who was off lead and scared him so much he started barking which scared the horse even more and it kicked out at him as it slithered to a halt and turned back to face the cow. Hopefully it's only bruising with him, he had a dead leg for a few minutes just after it happened and couldn't take his weight, but he seems to be fully weight bearing now, just extremely sore and tender, Phew!!!!! I'm off to the doctors for a blood pressure check myself this afternoon, I think they'll have to invent a higher measuring scale for the reading I'm likely to get!!! No matter, my boy seems to be OK and that's all that matters, Cheers Lyn xxx.

    Morning All,

So sorry to hear about Little Al Mrs Chip, my Daughter has a Kakariki and a Cockatiel and she loves them dearly so I can imagine how much you had come to love him.

Jem, that sound like a fantastic day - so all meeting at yours for the next one then :D

My DD ordered some new school clothes for the start of term (moving up to 6th form so no uniform) and in it was a £15 off £60 spend at Sainsburys. I only ever shop at Ald!'s with a top up at either Asd@ or Tesc0's but am wondering if it would be worth me using this voucher or are the items at Sainsburys that much dearer that I am better off shopping at Ald!'s and throwing the voucher away?

MoS, I only use sainsbobs rarely these days as its not particularly convenient for me and I often find fruit and veg shelves empty but this week I will be going. With vouchers and points I should be able to get thirty pounds worth of shopping for about threee or four pounds. I plan to look online and make a list of decent offers rather than wander round aimlessly when I get there. anything that any regular shoppers can recommend?

I'm really not keen on horses, and I'm terrified of cows. Much prefer wee things like hawks, ferrets, even rats and mice. Oh and snakes. Anything bigger than me is worrying.
Having a soaping day here, only time I am happy in the kitchen lol. On the menu is Goatsmilk soap in lavender, rose, and lotusflower fragrances. The RV got a quick cheese sammich and shoo-ed out. He is not happy. :D
I was at the doc this morning, first time in ages, and she looked at me and said "you look different"...so I told her the Kelp story. She says she will pass it onto her other ME patients. I hope she does.
