I am so sorry about little Al but glad he was surrounded by love and care and had the chance of happiness for his short life.

Seething about supergran's experience and how petty people can be especially those who are supposed to know and be better. That goes for Monnagran and the rev's experience too at the hands of "words fail me" - at least polite ones do - maybe Pharisees?

Have a pot of leek and potato soup on hob for lunch and youngest is due back soon from driving lesson so need to get my large bum in gear. So pleased DH managed to eat a proper dinner last night rather than the soft stuff I have done specially. Staples get taken out of his forehead tomorrow and hopefully we find out what the growth actually was and if he needs further treatment or not. Sensible head says he should be fine but instinct keeps nagging there could still be a problem. Never wanted to be proved wrong so much for ages and have managed to keep my mouth shut about being worried as he does not need mithered about it.

    Hugs to all

  • Phew, just back from the morning at the vetty persons place. Poor Docky dog got kicked by a horse this morning when He Who Knows had him off lead on the morning walk. The initial thorough check doesn't indicate broken bones or internal damage but he's very lame on his left back leg and in shock, poor, poor old boy!!! He's had a big opiate pain killer injection which should have knocked him out for the day but he's fighting it and shaking like a leaf but is standing on all four feet, so at least that's a positive. He Who Knows had to carry 17 kilos of dog from the beach to the tarmaced road where my lovely kind neighbour had driven me in her 4 x 4, bless her. Both of the menfolk are now feeling at least more settled in this house, it's just me having an oh er moment, I need some strong black coffee, life gets tedious somedays doesn't it? Lyn xxx.

  • Morning All,

So sorry to hear about Little Al Mrs Chip, my Daughter has a Kakariki and a Cockatiel and she loves them dearly so I can imagine how much you had come to love him.

Jem, that sound like a fantastic day - so all meeting at yours for the next one then :D

My DD ordered some new school clothes for the start of term (moving up to 6th form so no uniform) and in it was a £15 off £60 spend at Sainsburys. I only ever shop at Ald!'s with a top up at either Asd@ or Tesc0's but am wondering if it would be worth me using this voucher or are the items at Sainsburys that much dearer that I am better off shopping at Ald!'s and throwing the voucher away?
  • MOS: I have used mr Sansbob a few times and i have to say, I was shocked. Their own brand range is a decent price & very tasty. If you & your family are willing to give it a try then i'd suggest the use of the voucher.

MRSLW. Poooooor dogger. Hopefully he will make a speedy recovery and its more shock injury than anything major. Hugs for you all and a very gentle pat for docky. xx

Kezlou, Thanks hun. I plan too :)

Well for me, a lot of the things in sainsburys are cheaper than asda.

For instacne £2.25 for 2.5 kgs of poatoes from asda,

    £2.05 for for 3kg.

Its all depends on what you buy from there, i personally think sainsburys is cheaper than asda and morrisons for a lot of things.

Mrs LW, gentle strokes to poor Docky. Well done to HWK for carrying the old boy and your kind neighbour.

MOM - re Sainsburys, I shop there occasionally armed with a list of Sainsbugs basics, plus any offers and as it's a big store look at clothes, household bits etc in the sales. I would say if you can afford to stockpile some basics and/or buy things on offer, it would be worth it. Some of ther basics we like: pitta breads, choc mousse, tinned fruit/veg, some fruit/veg like strawberies and pots, frozen bits eg fishfingers, white fish, general purpose cleaners, bars of soap, cotton wool rolls. Sorry can't think of others at the mo. Some things are same price/cheaper than other supermarkets - look on online first. I also find their yellow stickers good, whereas our Mr Ts are terrible, guess it varies from store to store. Get things like kids' tshirts when in the sale as generally half price and decent quality. Just to add, I wouldn't do an ordinary weekly shop there though as would be much more expensive than Allydees.

we have now decided to have lunch here (boys choice) so will make that soon and then off we go to the woods armed with old icecream tubs to collect blackberries, can't wait!

kez, linger a little longer with your tea, then do some paperwork (say an hour) then make another cuppa or do something nice and repeat before you collect your boys. Best of both worlds then!
  • Instant Basics Custard , Sainsbugs is OK and will give hot comfort food on cold damp days even over basics tinned fruit or even on its own, Lyn xxx.
