GQ glad to have you back we have missed your voice of sanity and reason :rotfl:
right off to get my arris' into gear.
Spent a strange day in a zombie status; woke tired, continued tired and went out to sort stuff. Had an armful of post, most of which required something of me, some of which could be done today and some of which will have to be done in business hours tomorrow.
So I cut about the city doing that for a couple of hours (got a few muchly reduced bits in Wilko, worth a look perhaps?) and then came home, ate and went to bed for the afternoon.
Have resurfaced and desultorarily fiddled with paperwork and personal accounts and shredded stuff and fiddled about some more, not really up to doing a lot today.
Lovely to be home after a whole 2 weeks living out of a backpack, and not to have to keep wearing and washing the same few items of clothing. Going to be "retiring" a couple of tops for a few weeks as am a bit sick of the sight of them atm.
Righty, more tea is required, I reckon. And I will definately get to the lottie tomorrow, I promise.....
Have a good evening, everyone, and thanks for the welcomes back; I missed ya.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well that was certainly a meal to remember Stilty, what an experience. Were you full at the end of it though?
Ok who mentioned coke a cola cake ??? never heard of it but it brings together 2 of my favourite ingredients:D - cake and coke!
'twas me. I am on a new (work) iPad and haven't worked out how to copy and paste links yet, but if you google Nigella coca cola cake the first result, the readers digest one, is the one I use. It's from "domestic goddess". Instead of butter milk I use 30g yogurt mixed with 100ml semi skimmed milk.

Shegar - lovely that you can have a break this week, I hope you get to really enjoy it
Stiltwalker - I cannot believe you managed 21 courses - I went out for dinner to say goodbye to a friend who is moving to Brighton next week, we had poppadoms and a main and I struggled to manage the main entirely
I am really cross this evening, my DD7 plays out with the other children from around the green every day, they are in and out of our house and their houses and have been like that since we moved in two years ago. Two little girls (sisters) in particular she is close to, since we were away the dynamic has changed in that the sisters from the house behind ours have also joined in.
Today they have all been around all day, mostly on our front lawn but for a good time in our back garden (meaning we have to keep DS9 inside), at dinnertime we sent everyone home and then just as we finished the doorbell went, DD7 raced to door to find all the girls there and they handed her something and raced off.
It was a card which said she wasnt welcome to play with them any more, and then went on to list who was in "the club" and who wasnt. DD7 name was on the not list as were the two little children from next door.
DD7 was mortified and sobbed, so I grabbed the card and marched over to their house and returned the card to the father.
He then threw the other two girls out and later brought his two to apologise - which they did with a really nasty look in their eyes.
I am now worried I have made it worse, but DD is not used to this sort of venom, the girls in her class have fights and fall out etc but never with such bitterness and it blows over.0 -
KIDCAT it's just summer lightning, over in a flash and tomorrow they'll all be playing together again. It hurts when it happens but it's never permanent and the girls will all rub along together and would have whether you'd spoken to the parents or not. Kids are complex and can be unthinkingly cruel to each other on a whim. I expect it's the two new ones trying to be queens of the block and dictating behaviour towards the younger ones, they'll be seen through and probably drop out in a couple of weeks time, then life will be as normal, so don't anguish too much about it, it will right itself, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

So sorry to hear about your daughters nasty experience - sounds like the newcomers have changed the dynamic in a very negative way. It's hard to get your head round why they did it - especially after they had been playing happily together earlier.....
Maybe it would help to give them their wish! I feel sure that the other parents will quickly tire of having this spiteful pair round.
The root of the behaviour is probably jealousy...and some little girls seem to develop the b!tchy bully streak very early

Aw Kidcat, how awful for her. Girls can be such biatches at times.
I think you did the right thing, I'd be horrified if mine had done something like that. I would feel compelled to point out to her how hurtful it is. It will blow over and hopefully they will all play again. Horrid creatures
I'm bored, there's nowt on telly, I haven't the energy to do anything and don't fancy reading.
If I don't watch, this flipping I pad is going to be as entertaining as fuddles phone. For example the "something" I wrote above came out as "Selma hint"
I wonder if I just type a random sentence if it will come out as nonsense.
Told you I was bored.
Anyone remember my three week trip round Pennsylvania I did when it was just me and the kids cos OH had his passport stolen and couldn't come out? Well that was a year ago today :eek:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thank you all, we have encountered all manner of issues and girly nastiness over the years but never anything quite so venomous. DD7 has calmed down and is looking forward to school tomorrow and I have promised she can have her school friends to visit this week as well.
VJsmum - Ipads etc are referred to as crapples in our house, as a friend of ours has an Iphone which is always making those sort of mistakes
And I cannot believe its a year ago???0 -
Welcome home GQ, you were sadly missed.
VJ's Mum I can't believe it's a year either!
Kidcat sorry DD had to be involved in that. I think you did exactly the right thing. We are having this kind of thing quite a lot at the moment with the girls in DD's class, but it honestly does change week to week so I'm taking it all with a pinch of salt now and DD has stopped getting quite so upset by it.
Well the week's weather appears to have improved slightly this morning - we are now not due rain on Wednesday, just every other day.0 -
Morning all
Kidkat - girls are so horrible to each other. We still go through this sort of thing with DD2 now (last night it was so called friends having a beach party and they "forgot" to invite her but didn't forget to post pictures all over FB and tag her in some as they thought she might like to see them......nasty) DD1 went through it regularly too, I'm glad she's now past the age of letting it bother her.
Blue skies and warm here already, I've been awake half the night choking on a snotty cold, got up at 5 to a violent tummy too. I get the feeling today isnt going to be very productive. Saying that 2nd loads in the washer and My bed is stripped ready to go in too.
DD2 has 3 more days of work experience this week, she's loving it so far and it will hopefully give her the push she needs to try really hard in the rest of her exams."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all
It's cooler today, but feeling close at the same time, mist hanging in the air a bit. Keeping a weather eye out for slugs, the blighters aren't having my veg this year!
The rellie from abroad has now gone home, after annoying most of us in slight ways, but has upset our littlies by not turning up (or being very late) for visits, took an hour last night to calm down DS - glad she's gone now, like my older DD we can take her in small doses!!
Still got 2 days left of term here, due to badly placed INSET days, most of our town has finished, so will spend today getting holiday stocks sorted (craft things, major food stock up, etc.).
((Hugs)) to anyone feeling *bleurgh* or poorly, sad, or upset littlies - we can look after each other here, RL can take a flying leap today! :rotfl:
