wow - just been to a friend's Mum's 80th. No clue what to give, figured the world and his wife would be giving flowers/plants, (and I was right) so HM jam made with home grown blackcurrants, was my gift...and I took a HM cake (lemon drizzle) too! Her birthday is also tomorrow.

One of my hobbies is making HM jam; being as tight as they come I use home grown or foraged fruit. Blackcurrant jam is the easiset one I make (if I discount the hours I spend picking and trimming, that is!)

Wades through the slugs to welcome GQ back :D Missed ya

I love how occasional posters (hello to you all and those who don't post :) ) confirm what we all know about this thread and the people on it ;)

Monnagran you never give off the air of fogginess in doing stuff but pleased you can do all the stuff you've got to do without it! I do try to watch my grammar because I know you're watching but having heard me speak I'm sure you understand why :rotfl:

Sore throat still hurting but sure there's a little improvement so doubt it will need anti-biotics. Just waiting on my porridge to cool as I couldn't sleep again. Stupidly I gargled salt water before bed... cue lose chestiness that felt like I was choking every time I dozed off. Have read asprin will help with swelling so for the first time in my life I will try them. Normally a paracetamol gal but want to kick this in the bud as soon as I can.

I plan to spend the day resting up and dozing in preparation for children 24/7 for the next week upon week upon week  ;)
  • Morning Toughies have just come back from walking the boy and the temperature is lovely out there, we have overcast cloud and a coastal breze, it was very comfortable walking out in it. Now I'm back home and indoors is hot so all windows flung wide in the hope of cooling it off a little.

FUDDLE glad you are feeling a little better this morning, and hope that the improvement continues, you still need to rest up as much as you can though, not easy I know when you're Mum but will help see off the bug.

CHARLIES-AUNT nice to have you back in the mix, glad your health has improved and that you are able to live your OS life again. 8lbs of black cherries is my idea of heaven, I love them, the best forageable crop here seems to be blackberries this year, I've never seen so many wildies set and growing on. Lots of Bramble Jam in the future I think.

Look after yourselves and I'll catch you later, Cheers Lyn xxx.

We're lighting the fire tonight - last night was a wee bit too cool . Grey and cool again this morning but forecast is sun.
Germolene for heat rash... and asprin to me is far better than parcetamol, that stuff is useless for me, plus asprin lowers temps.

morning everyone, had the evening from hell yesterday. I hope you can remember me asking re alcohol at work a few weeks back. Well yesterday I was duty manager again, and said person was in work. I also had 2 new starters that we are training. She kept going out the back to the staff room, then she nipped to the shops. I went to the staff room and could smell wine. When I was talking to her her eyes were slightly glazed and she smelt of alchol. I rang area manager, and she said I had to send her home.

Now I paniced, what if she got nasty? so I arranged for my OH to be in town up the road. I took said person to one side and asked her to leave as I could smell alcohol. She just asked was she going to be paid until the end of the shift?

So today I have to go and do a statement for HR, and they are taking it from there. There are other issues as well.

Sorry to off load, I have had the worse nights sleep ever. I do feel sorry for her, but I also have a duty of care to the other staff and myself. I just hope this is a wakeup call for her.

Well im going for a long soak and then I must go and write everything down.

Have a lovely day everyone, and thankyou for helping me with this so far.

You did the right thing Nutty. And if she loses her job she has nobody to blame but herself - she is putting all of your jobs at risk by doing it. I feel for her, she needs help, but not at the expense of everyone else.
Glad you're feeling a bit better Fuddle.
Sorry you're suffering Denise, I do hope they can finalise the diagnosis soon so you can get the help you need.

I do believe it has actually rained a bit here overnight! A relatively quiet day today, we're going over to PIL's to have a picnic under their trees. The children love it in their garden so it should be very relaxing for the adults, although poor Grandma always gets roped into something!

Denise - if you need any info/support re. lupus, LameWolf on the Flylady and the Daily threads suffers from it and might offer a supporting shoulder. Otherwise (((hugs))) from me and my furry friend Ozzie (Lassie)

    Morning All,
Its cooler but who knows what will happen as the day goes on...I'm tired and enjoying doing nothing! But in ten minutes if I plan to go to the event at Raby Castle I have to be up, shaved, dressed and away.

I'm tempted to stay put but...I can't get there before 11.30am at the earliest. As it finishes by 4pm any later its not worth it.

Haven't decided about touring the castle...may stay in the grounds.

So I'm away...Hope its a good one for all...

Nutty - you did what you had to do. Remember it is her problem, not yours and you shouldn't feel bad for doing the right thing. What would the new starters have thought if you'd done nothing?

It seems to have rained on the garage and conservatory roofs, but there is none on the ground??? Rained a lot too, must have evaporated I guess.

We are Guinea Pig sitting at the mo, so I have been and fed them, funny little things they are. DD is looking after neighbours pets for a week also. They are doing our watering in return when we go away next week. (Neighbours, not pets :-) )

Blimey I am starving, I'm getting up. S'laters
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Morning everyone. Thanks for all the advice - I found some sudocrem in the cupboard and gave that a go last night - it's definitely a bit better this morning. It's also not quite as hot today which I think helps.

Took the hound (he's a black lab) for a nice long walk this morning but unfortunately this tires me out and now I'm exhausted!! He had a lovely time though.

    Enjoy your day everyone x
