Good morning all, dry but windy here in Lincolnshire, the sun is out too. Well I have a full week off from work, so I have decided to freshen up the kitchen. Its just getting a quick emulsion but should look far nicer. I never realised how much there is to do before hand tho. So far ive managed to wash all the walls and kitchen unit tops and then there is some filling to do.

Where is everyone??? its so quiet on here at the moment. I haven't that much to say, other than we will need to be very very careful over the next month or so. I honestly didnt realise my eyesight had changed so much, and to add insult I have to pay for the thin and extra light lenses as the sight is so limited.

I have spoken to the manager at work and he said not to worry about my cash loss, I did panic if I am honest. Looking back here was lots of errors on the days she worked. And if was often more than a hundred pounds, I just cant believe she would be so stupid. I received a nice gift from a customer Saturday he gave me £5 and said have a drink on me!!! put a really big smile on my face.

Well I must keep motivated with this decorating!! take care x

    Morning all

Mr LW - your new flooring sounds fab - bet you can't wait.

Nutty - I have to have the extra thin lenses too - or else I'd be wearing bottle ends - but I need my glasses all the time so these things have to be accounted for. I must admit that last time we went to Mr T's for eye tests and glasses - they were far cheaper than SS and had points too.

Hope everyone is ok? The weather here this morning needs to make up it's mind - woke up to a really hard frost out front but had the back door open with the glorious sun pouring in - then the clouds came - it went pitch black and freezing for all of 2 minutes then sun again - washing's been out and in and out and now back in - nearly dry but I'm heading off to London after my cuppa so can't risk leaving it out until 10pm when I get back - DH can't lift his arms high enough to peg/unpeg so there's no point stressing him if it rains.

Hospital visits are going well - Mum is doing wonderfully - she's causing havoc by wandering off when she shouldn't but as she has no short term memory at the moment and she's still very confused about the year/day/time/where she is, she gets it into her head that something needs doing and ventures off down the ward without her walker. Physio and OT are working with her daily trying to re-establish things like showering, getting dressed and will move on to making tea and toast when she's ready - she was doing well with it all last week but over the weekend it all went to pot with trying to shower with clothes on, trying to put her knickers over her pj's etc. But then we have moments of pure clarity and Mum is back, talking and acting as normal, asking questions about friends and family, asking Dad if he's got plenty of food in, fed the birds, watered her plants etc.....it's all down to the swelling in the brain and all the new pathways that need making - there's still every chance that this is as good as she'll be but we're only 4 weeks on from surgery so very early days.

Dad came to stay for a few days so he's gone back loaded up with easy dinners to "ping", clean laundry and looking far more rested. I'm meeting him at the station at lunch time so we can go visit together - he's still finding the tube journey hard, so many stairs, so much rushing - he's a young 70 but has circulation problems with his legs and can't rush about to much.

DD1 is in Edinburgh with her ex, still the best of friends, she'll be home Thursday, DD2 is being so helpful, looking after DH and making sure the house is tidy. DH is n't coping that well with everything at the moment so tomorrow and Wednesday will be spent doing something nice together (something cheap too as I've spent over £600 on train fares in the last month!!! ouch!!!). At some point I've got work to fit in and I'd really like a lie in but that'll wait :)

softstuff I had an email from M&S today, currently 20% off orders to Aus and NZ.

I just googled about the latex/ nickel free and it seems all their undies are but you would maybe want to email them to confirm .

Wow, thanks for that. I'll email and see.

Nuttyp, fortunately with painting by the time you pick up a brush you're over 60% done! Spent an entire day cleaning the flat today. The kitchen is in, the bathroom's done apart from the shower screen and a bit of gloss and the ceilings have been replastered. Onwards with wall prep and painting from tomorrow. Lots and lots of painting!

Feeling a little overwhelmed...half the upstairs floorboards have to come up on wednesday for electrical work before carpets can go down, and just found out the only time the builder can start our kitchen knockdown etc is tomorrow, so a wall comes down tomorrow and need to move everything from that part of the kitchen. As yet have no idea what the kitchen will look like or even what we want it to look like! We need to reuse at least some of the cupboards though. On a plus note the rabbits' mansion is almost done so at least they have somewhere nice to live.

    Afternoon all

Glad to hear about your mum's progress Pooky even though she is keeping the staff on their toes! You must be so busy but still finding time to spend with DH - you need it as much as he does.

Welcome back Sheila, your holiday sounded wonderful. Hope ivyleaf is enjoying hers.

Possession and Softstuff - you are doing so well with your home doing ups. Mrs LW too with your new flooring and nutty with your kitchen spruce up. You all put me to shame! Glad your manager has been ok about the £100 nutty.

Well I have some fantastic news to share. DS10 has been offered his/our 1st choice secondary school and we are all over the moon! :j:j:j
He worked so hard to get his place (selection tests etc) and I am incredibly relieved we got an excellent school as our nearest school is terrible. Even better it is the only school out of catchment that runs a school bus with a route that conveniently stops 5 mins from our house (the cost is a bit eye watering though) and hopefully 2 friends from his class should have places there too (as they have older siblings there already.)

Hardly slept last night what with staying up late to get the results and then one of the cats being a furry blooming nuisance, ended up with him sleeping on my head. Existing on coffee and sugar today! My friend and her OH popped in unexpectedly for a cuppa before, one of those days when I am getting burger all done :D. Brilliant sunshine here, just waiting for a load to finish to hang out then need to pop out before school run.

SQ well done in getting the first choice of school. We allowed our daughters to choose there own schools, and luckily they opted for the all girl school which is what I would rather of. It proved to be a great choice for them. Unfortuntly its now a mixed school..

Pooky what a lot of train fares, I hope your mum is feeling better soon. My mum has heart problems but I am fortunate enough to live nearby so its just a few minutes walk. I bet your dad is pleased to have some ready meals to just heat up, its amazing what you miss at time.
I tried mr T for glasses and mr A in the past, but due to our local stores being a good 30 min drive away I elected for the local shop. I have a stigmatism?? or something so one of the eyes is rugby ball shaped. I wear them everyday so I was a bit naughty and chose a 'designer' pair. Not as tho anyone else will know but they are of a similar shape to my last ones only a different colour. I have also had reactor light lenses added and a second pair is just sunglasses. So can we have some sun next weekend so I can try them out please!!
Well the first coat is on the walls, its a sage green colour. I have to say its definatley different!!! Looks nice tho. OH is going to do the tricky bits later for me.

Time for a cuppa x its well earned.

Oh well done Elder MASTER SQ, brilliant result and it just goes to show that all your hard work and time given to visiting and assessing schools has paid of in a major way SQ so congrats to you too well done both!!!

The carpet layers came early at 11.00 (they phoned first) and we have both floors down and they look smashing, particularly pleased with the bathroom as we've picked a fleck which has exactly the colour of the tiles and the wood in it and some grey too so it really works well in there. Still playing musical furniture in the back room as it's all coming up bigger than I measured it but we'll get there in the end, it's just a case of making it work!
