Thank you to everyone who offered reassurance on having a colonoscopy. Had the deed done today and it was fine. The prep solution didn't even tatste all that bad and the effects were not as dramatic as I had been led to expect. The procedure itself was no more painful than an IBS flareup and I've been living with those for 25 years. I think I might have been a bit more inhibited about whimpering gently without the sedation, but they didn't seem to think I was making a fuss.
The worst part was the pounding headache from the 36 hours of fasting. It wasn't as if I was dehydrated because I drank enough water yesterday to seriously deplete London's aquifers and I got up at 6 am and chugged another pint. I couldn't wait for them to put that sedation in to stop it.
First thing I did afterwards was to eat my bodyweight in sugar and junk food and now I feel absolutely greatIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -

Don't worry Nutty, thank you for looking.0 -
So glad it is over Mary. I will tell you now why I don't like them. When I had mine the guy in front of me ended up with a perforated bowel. I have never laid so still in my life. Staying very still is the key.0

You're on Softstuff! Will have to find my out of date passport so that I can renew it, and persuade OH that he wants to make a fourth trip to Oz! Will be in Briby Island at some stage....not too far away from you?
Congratulations to those of you who are moving or even consider it......I have moved 5 miles in my almost 70 years and trust that my next move will be feet first iykwim!
Sleep well all
Marie
Bribie is doable! About an hour and a half away, which in Oz terms is around the corner. Could bring my MIL for the novelty.Softstuff when we moved into this house the wall above the cooker was literally thick with grease which had set solid. Even a scourer didn't shift it because it just got clogged in seconds. But by chance as we were decorating another room I had a bucket of sugar soap solution with me and wiped the grease with that - and it came off like magic!
I don't know if you call it the same thing in your neck of the woods - it's the cleaning stuff that decorators use when prepping and it's "dirt" cheap
Funny you should mention sugar soap, that's what I used for the top of the larder unit in the end. It took 7 buckets of strong solution and a manual scraper. I've never seen anything like it in my life.
MIL has volunteered to clean my oven with caustic stuff, so just off to do that now.
Won't have any internet for a few days maybe, so sending love all round now!Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
maryb, so glad that's over for you, nursemaggie I hope you are feeling a lot better, and Mrs LW, glad to see you home safely.
Softstuff, your descriptions have definitely turned my stomach, I hate grease and that sounds really awful. Possession how are you getting on with the packing? Don't envy you, I hope never to have to do that again!
Still feeling snotty but I think I am on the mend, need to be better for the weekend's rugby, the Welsh contingent arrive tonight so should have a good weekend. Hope you all have something to look forward to over the next few days.0 -
Morning Toughies cool, grey and breezy here this morning and I'm off to town to shop as I haven't for the last two weeks and the cupboard and fridge both belong to Old Mother Hubbard!!! I treated myself to a new cookery book while I was away, a modern slow cooker one with some lovely recipes that we'll both like and I'm off to buy some nice fresh ingredients to make delicious food for next week including Kofta Curry and Mattar Paneer and Braised Puy Lentils with Sausages, Yummy!
Olaf the guinea piggy is at the vets again today with the same tooth problem as he has just over a year ago, DD spotted that he was not eating properly and decided to act sooner rather than later and the vet will check him and do any procedures that are needed then send him home with her today. I'm hoping all will be well, he's a little character and I love him very much, he likes cuddles and so do I!
Have yourselves a lovely day and stay warm and dry. Am I the only one finding this cold weather trying in the extreme? I normally don't mind the winter but this year seems to have been cold for such a long, long time I'm yearning for a bit of spring warmth, Lyn xxx.0 -
maryb So glad to hear it went okay :j
Mrs LW that sounds like a really lovely nursery
Going out with DD2 this morning to get new school shoes for the grandchildren. I really hope they have only got the cheapest styles in stock in the kids' sizes todayLast time, DGD fell in love with a pair ofblack patent Lelly Kellies  and they were the ones that fitted best as well. She loved them so much that I hadn't the heart to say no!
