Many congrats Sheila :j :j :j Your poor DIL though, ouch!
I knew someone who had a girl after 4 boys - she and her husband were so thrilled, but as silvasava says, her DD was a complete tomboy
burtha - That really doesn't sound like the nicest pub to work in x0 -
Aw congratulations Sheila Enjoy
Had a lovely day utilising the NT memberships today. We wandered around a castle ruin while being very well wrapped up and then stripped off in front of the cafe fire and had a cuppa tea. Sundays were made for this kind of stuff
Sundays are not, however, made for boiler leaks that run into the kitchen ceiling and through the light! Yep, that is what we walked back into this afternoon. The boiler is off as a precaution which means we have no heating as it's all ran through that electric boiler. It is the one that has been installed for only a year, yes.
So the kids are having a bath with the water that is already in the boiler as I type and we have hunted out the two emergency oil filled plug in rads that we have. Hot water will be from the kettle and we will have wash downs.
We'll need a the boiler fixing, a dehumidifier and the ceiling repairing. We won't pay for it but ergh, the faff I foresee.
For the mean time we will be absolutely fine. More blankets out
DH is on with a chicken dinner with spelt again. Looking forward to it as it was yummy last week.0 -
Sheila, congratulations on the new addition to the family. :TI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order

Sheila congratulations! What a wonderful name and addition. You know we'll be expecting updates on her adventures.
Awww how wonderful master stilty and miss stilty are, lots of pics expected you know Helen!!!
Fuddle I'm a carer so know all about the regulations, but make sure you have another witness. It's really easy for people to say your abusing your position especially as the complaint was directed at you. Trust me on this you may have been in the profession for one year, I've been within the service history for over 15 years. If you discipline someone regarding words or actions directed at you. Its safer to have a witness, it means you and the other person is protected.
Hope your boiler get fixed.
Burtha what a nightmare, have to say its makes life when you can close the door on them.
Well sorted my father's kitchen only took me three hours to sort it out. It was disgusting, cleaned the fridge, bleached everywhere and its looking so much better. So exhausted when I finished, then we ended up at a social club for a game of bingo. OH persuaded me to go saying look hes finally branching out. So we ended playing bingo all night then ended up at another pub on the way home and he caught up with some friends. He was so happy, nearly got himself a date
So Saturday we ended up staying in while ds2 played football with his friends, oh at work while ds1 watched a film with me. Today we just took dad out to bq to check prices and things. Finally got another curtain rail, last one yay! Bought herbs , strawberry plants and lavender all reduced, supposed to cost nearly £40 spent £8.50 and looked really healthy plants to.
It was really scary being out with dad but we did it. Hopefully he will be at the day centre on Tuesday and the start of new friendships for him0 -

Fingers crossed you get the boiler etc fixed soon fuddle. I know you will manage fine in the meantime. Your day out sounded fab.
You've been busy kezlou, productive and fun weekend eh? Your dad is lucky to have you supporting him, hopefully he will enjoy Tuesday.
Well we had a fab time at swimming. The session had floats, balls etc out and I took diving sticks and all the boys had great fun. The water was actually warm, wasn't expecting that and felt so relaxed when we got out.
Got persuaded into having lunch out. I really wanted to go but trying to save so in two minds. In the end I decided to go for it as we have so many weekends of seeing nobody and spending nothing. DS8 wanted to go home so I dropped him back to stay with daddy and took DS10 with us. It was a Chinese buffet restaurant with the most amazing choice of food including lots of tiny desserts, different fruit and even a chocolate fountain. Our friends paid the bill when I was helping DS with the puddings. They insisted on paying for DS and I - lovely gesture but I wanted to pay our way. Anyway friend and her hubby suggested we swimming again and then have lunch at ours. Friends eat out a lot so I know they have money to play with but I still feel a bit guilty. Then back to friends for a cuppa.
I actually feel like I have had a proper weekend rather than a bunch of chores with breaks in between. I feel like I have got a bit of me back somehow what with a trip out Thursday and a meetup with a friend on Friday and then today.
I have sent 2 emails, one a response to MIL who wants to meet up with us at BILs when she is over to UK and one to my lot about meeting up somewhere halfways between our homes. It feels weird to think about meeting up with family I haven't seen for about 2.5 years. I am not expecting much, we will do it on our terms and I am not getting sucked into their stuff. Watch this space, there will have to be a LOT of deep breathing beforehand!
I have finally got round to sorting out a new phone deal. We have been with BeeTee forever and we are paying a ridiculous amount. I do all the finances except the phone/broadband which was DH's dept. I have found a far, far cheaper deal with M&S giftvouchers thrown in on top and £60 through a cashback site. Even without the 2 extras we still save a packet so no contest. Next job is the car insurance.
off to bed, night night to anyone still up and reading0 -
kez well done
SQ - you sound much more relaxed and positive this weekend, so glad to hear you doing so well.
Today is D day for me, I am meeting at school, and at the end barring a miracle I will hand our official letter to remove DS from school.
Its taken a few days but I am finally at peace with it now, and I can see it being beneficial for us all. A happier calmer DS can only be a positive impact for all of us, the relief from the morning race to try to get him into school, the relief from the worry I will be called in, not standing outside at pick up panicking he wont be ready and will be late for DD. Take away all of those and our life as a family will improve, and I will be free to enjoy learning together.0 -
Big (((HUGS))) kidcat
It does sound as if life will be much better for you as a family if he's out of that school xx
Fuddle so sorry to hear about the boiler
Had to find a copy of DD2's birth cert last night as it's needed for a form they're filling in. Because it looks different from the ordinary, as she was born in Germany while her Dad was in the Army, I bet it'll be a case of "This doesn't look right, it's the wrong shape and looks like a photocopy" "Sorry, we have to have the original." It is the original!
Her birth had to be registered at the British Embassy and the cert is the same shape as a marriage cert.
Her DH can't find his birth cert either, so unless his mum has a copy he'll have to get a new one.0 -
SQ this going out with friends is doing you good you sound much more positive.
kidcat you sound even more positive. I rather think this decision to home school DS is the best thing for both of you.
Kez I can't believe the difference in you this week I guess it is beginning to get your dad sorted.
ivyleaf I can see my DD having that sort of problem with DGS and his birth certificate as he was born in Saudi Arabia.
Oh Fuddle I hope your heating gets sorted quickly. It's the thought of having to ask for a days holiday so soon that is bothering you I am sure.0
