Oooh no food processor?? Wow, if that's the case I'm likely to try it next fast day.

They keep advertising these things that turn carrots and courgettes into spaghetti here, which would also be delightful on a fast day (and I notice they're only a couple of dollars on ebay), but even on the ad, they don't seem to work right. Has anyone tried one?

Yes, I've got one. I use it quite a bit in summer. It isn't a must have but it's fun. And if it's cheap and you can store it, why not?
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

We had a Waitrose in the next town, but it was never very busy and has closed down, and there will eventually be an Aldi on the site instead!

Sorry i was having a "moany morning" earlier. Things just get on top of you sometimes, don't they? But I am really lucky, because i do actually have a slimline dishwasher, so the washing-up is only of things that won't fit into it or aren't "dishwasherable".

Perhaps I do tend not to moan much on here because i see so many lovely people with far worse problems than mine.

OH's models are modern ones btw, not vintage Dinky/Corgi or anything. He suddenly started buying them when he had to give up work, and it may sound daft but i think there was a psychological element to it - he had lost more mobility, so was buying vehicles as if that would somehow compensate for it!

Lyn our W'rose is within walking distance too and super for lovely treat things that we wouldn't normally pick up too, although we have to pay full price when we go in of an evening but the bread items (mostly croissants for breakfast the next morning) are reduced and snapped up. We didn't get anything special at Christmas as their prices really were very silly but now the cheese and pate is at a fairer price we do go in for weekend treats.

lamb chops, broccoli, green beans and mashed carrot and suede for tea. Will do a drizzle of gravy too.

The temperature is taking a bit of a dive again here. There's a definite nip in the living room as I type. I hear we could all be seeing some snow at the weekend? I'm not on-call thankfully. Doing one care call on Sat morning and then that's it.
  • How's it going with the new job petal, are you used to the change yet?
  • Foodstuff I stopped doing the 5:2 three months ago and have put on 11lb .

Shanks77 the recipe said to dry fry some cumin seeds then add a little water and cook the blitzed cauliflower until the water had gone and the moisture had been driven off the cauliflower. I will definitely try the microwave method. I was a bit disappointed with my effort and I usually really like cauliflower.

SQ glad things are a little better today.

Halfway through making the Hairy Dieters aubergine bake for tea. I will serve mine with green beans and the family will have pasta with theirs. Let's see if OH notices that he is having a vegetarian meal.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Pretty used to it Lyn. I can hold my own now and don't worry when my phone rings and not knowing how to answer the question. I'm having some angst with 2 of the carers who didn't get the job. One little immature madam is spreading rumours that threaten my integrity but me being me I won't bow down. She's had an official verbal warning that is documented on her file. I made sure it was me that gave it. I was shaking inside with rage and nerves but pulled it off professionally. It should die down. The other one is a male who has management experience. He is embarrassed that he didn't get the job and is telling everyone who will listen that he threw the interview on purpose, that's the only reason why I got the job. He insists on asking me management questions to try to show me up. I'm so used to it now I just something say something like 'sorry, is this important? It's just that I'm concentrating on carer's mileage claims.' or hand him the policy file and ask him when he finds the answer to let me know and thank him in advance for helping educate me in to my new role. Managing a pub is entirely different from being a care coordinator. Just can't let them see they bother me really.

Shocked at how broad my shoulders are but loving the job and thriving off the need to be organised :rotfl: you're shocked right? ;):D:p

The tiredness has worn down but in a bit of a rut of needing to sleep at 9.30pm and waking up 5.30am.
  • Way to go chickie, stand your ground, I know you, so I know you will and do the job the efficient and professional way I know you will and confound the whole perishing lot of them by being good at it!!! Cheeky whatnames, you got the job on merit by working as hard and as dilligently as you did when you were a hands on carer, you never let the firm down and you never caused them a seconds worry. Oh jealousy is a wicked driver and causes many people to say and do things they would never ever do if they thought about it!!! Go that FUDDLE we're so very proud of you!!! Lyn xxx.

My sis has one and uses it all the time she even got my mum converted. She says it's great. I bought her one from Amazon wasnt the cheapest but seemingly well worth it's weight in gold xx

Thanks Maryb and Shanks77, I'll add that to the list of my "wants". Hopefully I can grow courgettes in the new garden and if they go as well as people say they do, I'll be desperate for ways to use them!

I think you were commenting to me.... is that my new nickname? :rotfl:

Mrs VP, I haven't dared weigh myself, but suspect it's a bit more than 11lb. I came off the pill also when I got sterilised, so the combo of that and no 5:2ing.... Still, at least I know I have a method that works to shift the weight and what went on will come off again. I shouldn't have been stupid enough to stop doing it in the first place, it wasn't as though it was any hassle.
