Ouch pooky that's an awful lot considering they didn't plate it. Our vet does follow up checks for free though which would be good for you. If he needs long term drugs it may be worth looking to see if you can get them cheaper online and then get a prescription from the vet.
Oven cleaning guy has been here 2 hours so far and should be finished within the next hour is cost me £55 but I simply didn't have the 3 hours needed, in reality I think it would have taken me longer to do properly. At least this way it won't have that awful smell for days lingering0 -
That bill was everything to date, so emergency consult, 2 over nights, op and drugs. Pain relief is only until the stitches come out, antibiotics are for 2 weeks, so no long term meds. Stitches will be out in 10 days so it's all quite short term considering the severity."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

THE BUILDERS ARE GONE!!!!! all finished and the shower is apparently only air locks and will clear. What a relief to know he house is ours again. It's going to be wonderful tomorrow morning not having to be up, organised, cleaned and out with the hound before 8 o clock. I think we'll be decadent and celebrate with a tray of tea in bed, on a Wednesday too, oooer lummy missis is that legal?0

pooky I do hope little Jasper is feeling better, poor chap. Our Kitty, now 8, shattered her leg at a few months old, just days after we got her and before the insurance was sorted out (!!!!) . She kept the poor leg and walks fine but has to sit with her leg stuck out straight because of the pin. The op cost over £400 back then but there was no trouble afterwards.
MrsLW how wonderful for you to have your home back. Savour the peace and quiet
Nuttyp do take it easy and do the minimum you can for now - good enough is good enough.
Kidcat hope oven is sparkling. I came home to find dd18 had been making chocolate cake and every work surface and utensil is sticky and chocolatey!
Noticed in Waitrose today that the free tea or coffee will only be available in the cafe itself if you are making another purchase from the cafe. You can still get a free drink from the self service machines - guess that's an end to that little treat of sitting in the warmth of the cafe with a free drink and people watching. Ah well....it was nice while it lasted.0 -
glad to hear Jasper is doing well and Mrs LW has her home back - cause for celebrations, even if just tea!
Good luck with the home schooling kidcat - how will you find the time? Less school runs though I guess. Could DS help with a few little chores during the day?
I don't have a handy wait-for-a-rose but can drive to one that is near some other shops. I picked up a form the other week to register and thought I might grab the odd free cuppa with friends but not worth it now with the extra petrol and having to buy food there.
In a down mood today, couldn't shake it off so just plodded on with it and faked smiling. Had an interesting time working at school today, patience and saint job but still rewarding. Popped in to see a friend for a very quick coffee (an expresso boom boom) and completed a little bit of proofreading for DH's assignment. He has just finished the overdue one this evening and the next is due in tomorrow.... oh well! Other than the usual maid, chauffeur and chef tasks, nothing much else donewhere does the time go??
I feel like my life revolves around chores and tasks and a little bit worried that my depression is upping its game. DH and I were talking about our finances and the list of the things that we need to do in the house. I have no idea how or if we will ever get them done. We refuse to get into debt so we will just have to keep on making do. Sometimes DS10 makes comments about the house and how everything needs fixing. We have the basics and all sorts of extras like their games consoles and e-readers as I point out and that is much more than some have.
Anyway I need to start looking after myself more, more sleep, exercise and better diet, easier said than done but I must try harder. Also need to see friends more regularly both on my own and as a family. I feel like we are socially quite isolated with no wider family around and only a handful of friends. There are a few folk we haven't seen for ages so will start making plans to see them even if it isn't for a few weeks yet. I am going to ask some local friends if they fancy meeting up with their child at the weekend as a start. I have made little effort for such a long time what with my depression making an inconvenient comeback, DH's 3 year course which took all his spare time and needing to draw the purse strings ever tighter. I know its good I am more aware of how I am feeling and what I can do about it so maybe just another life blip, we all get them after all. Trying to see it all as a challenge!
Excuse the rambling and thanks for listening.0 -
Evening all. Have not been on for a few days as have been busy with life in general.
Will try to catch up with posts over the next few days.
Older Miss VP has started volunteering in one of the local charity shops. It's not paid work and I have made it clear to her that she still needs to get paid work whilst she is having this year off uni. At least this will fill a gap in her CV and she enjoys it.
Younger Miss VP has signed herself off job seekers as she decided that being given that money was not giving her any incentive to get a job. I admire her principles but she needs to be working more than the 12 hours paid work she currently has. We are still waiting for her to be given another option date after the first one was cancelled. This time she has managed to go a whole week between courses of antibiotics, but has now been given a two week course of strong antibiotics. This is the fourth course in five weeks. None of the home remedies seem to be working and she is fed up of the constant pain.
I started back on the 5:2 diet as of last week and I am making lot of the Hairy Dieters recipes for our evening meals. Tonight I made turkey chilli with cauliflower rice. The chilli was great but I was not too keen on the cauli rice. I will try it again though as it was the first time I have made it so it could have been me rather than the recipe.
Hugs to everyone who needs them.
Mrs VPI am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Have just seen your post SQ.
It's hard when you have depression and some days seem an endless round of sameness. Try not to take your sons comments about the house to heart. You provide your family with a safe happy home and that's what they will remember in the future.
You are right about needing to take time for yourself and that it is easier said than done. I can only suggest that you don't try to make all.of the changes that you have suggested all at once because it can be difficult to maintain too much change in one go.
I hope that things feel a little easier for you tomorrow.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Pooky, glad Jasper is getting about, even if he's wobbly. But ouch on the bill for sure.
Kidcat, the oven cleaning guy was the best idea. I'm pretty OCD when it comes to cleaning, so it makes my friend chuckle when I tell her I've never cleaned the oven here. I simply have a blind spot and have never looked on the inside of it! To be fair, most things get covered in foil or have a tray under, so I doubt it would be that filthy... if indeed I ever looked in it. It's being replaced with a new one I most likely shan't ever use next week. And in a couple of weeks there's a new bathroom going in here we also shan't ever use!
MrsLW, it wouldn't seem bad if you spent an entire week in bed now they're gone, you'd deserve it.
MrsVP, I started back on the 5:2 yesterday. I've only been off it a couple of months, but boy has the weight gone on. It's something I really can't do without. Never tried the cauli rice, since I don't have a food processor. Yesterdays dinner was a piece of salmon and lots veg. Tonight will be a stir fry with lots of the same veg plus garlic and so forth.
SQ, you really do need to schedule that fun time. Even if it's just arranging to pop round to a friends for a cuppa with some homemade cake, anything to break the week up a bit. I notice my mood is much better since spending more time doing things like this.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
