gosh if we are sharing birth stories.... DH and I did both NHS and NCT ante-natal classes for DS10 and I had grandly decided that there was no need to consider things like C-sections and bottle feeding as it as going to be "natural" all the way for me, minimal pain relief and DH gently moping my glowing brow. I had a meticulous birth plan involving a birthing pool etc. Got to hospital with problems, midwife laughed at my birth plan and an emergency caesarean for me. With DS8 I resisted every effort by the hospital to have a 2nd caesarean knowing I had a very demanding toddler and managed a VBAC with most of the pain relief known to woman, a ventouse, an episiotomy, 26 hours and complaints from people in other rooms due to the very loud mooing noise I made to produce a baby that wouldn't fit into the first size clothes I had lovingly selected. It sure ain't like the movies!

Hope your feeling less sore Ginny,
Sheila glad your feeling better :)

Been very naughty today but needed it, to be honest I regret going out today in compete agony.

Went to the courts, forms are now in, I think. No date for driving licence appeal but its all started. Been to library and got two Graham Masterson books. Thanks for the recommendation mar :)

Sat in the tea house treated myself to pot of earl grey and warm cherry scone. Spent less than £5 but had a hour to relax and read. So strange being on my own.

SQ, we are all here to listen , you are kind enough to give support so why shouldnt you recieve it xxx

Stilty, the possibility of a nights rest seems to be possible for you both now fter slighlty better news - tke cre of yourselves, you have full hands already.

Sheila, you are right of course about the mammo being a necessity, thats why I saw it through to the end. I have a high pain threshold but apparently my boobs dont know this and it hurt like hell. My legs are aching too where she pushed my feet into position with her feet. I think it was just one of those days for me, hopefully sorting Oh out tomorrow will make me forget all these aches. I will certainly have my next one done and just hope its not too bad.

Off to pack a picnic and reading stuff for tomorrow - the hospital assured Oh that I can stay on the ward and wait instead of wandering round for 4 hours or so. I can also relax becuse the Doc doing it is the nicest man I know.

Hope everyone has a better day tomorrow with less worry and more understanding from the real world.

Glad your OHs job is going well Nuttyp

Tomorrow puppy is at the vets, he is being snipped if that makes sense. Maybe he will calm down a bit, he tried to hump my arm while I was eating my breakfast today!!!

I wouldn't bank entirely on that. Since my friends Jack Russell had the snip, he continues to hump, but now he looks just ever so confused as he does it. Sort of like "I feel like I want to be doing this, but don't really know why" :rotfl:

SDG, I would have also bought the mincemeat. And my OH would have also thought I was insane! I have a nice recipe for oaty mincemeat slice if you don't want to wait until Christmas to use it.

I posted about househunting on the preparedness thread. All that excitement and a bit of disappointment and my stomach has packed up today. I'll be right as rain in a few hours, but just wish that's where upset didn't manifest itself for me.

Sending hugs SQ, take it easy at the moment, you've have done so well over Christmas, sometimes hibernating is the best thing.

Ginnyknit, I'd admire anyone who after an enema could do 3 buses. I went to the local hospital 5 minutes away, very gently with a towel on the seat in case :o That said, even routine ones can find things unexpectedly that are easy to resolve when small. My husbands aunt just had a few precancerous polyps removed during hers, completely unexpected and will cause her no trouble now, but wouldn't have liked to have left them.

I have everything crossed for a good outcome for your MIL Stiltwalker, it's sounding more positive for sure, sending love.

Good news stiltwalker, I hope whatever MIL decides to do she will be comfortable. Not happy about your RL friends, we may have to have a word!
nutty - So pleased OH is enjoying his new job, must be a lovely feeling for you both.
savingsqueen I hope you feel better soon.
Ginny, how are you feeling today?

Good news yesterday, I won £500 on the premium bonds! I quite often get a cheque for £25 (which I did a couple of weeks ago) but £500, wow! I have banked it and put it towards next years holiday I think.

The weather here is horrid, really windy and wet, it will probably stay dark all day. That will suit my mood, I have a painful throat and feel a bit yuk. Still, the little darlings at school will soon make me forget.

Oh congrats on your win Camelot I hope you enjoy it. A good amount to win and you feel you can do something with that xx
Good news Stiltwalker I hope thing keep going in an upward direction for you xx
  • STILTWALKER better news than expected is a godsend, it will as you say still be an uphill battle as ovarian cancer is not at all nice but I always feel that 'knowing' the enemy as it were is a better place than wondering. Always here if you need us.

NUTTY even though pup has had the snip it will take a couple of months for the hormone levels to drop and for him to become less teenage so don't look for an instant fix and don't think it hasn't worked, it takes a little time is all!

SQ chin up petal, think forward to the spring, daffodils and some nice sunny weather, it will get here sooner than you think and then you'll feel better as will an awful lot of the rest of us.

I'm going to the local centre today to take back some library books and to pick up a few basics like plain flour and dried milk and potatoes, I think we're in for some unsettled weather for a while and I like to have enough ingredients in so we can still live well even if it's difficult to get out because of the weather. I know we all have shops close by but some days when it's really wet and windy it's nice to only have the dog walk to cope with, not have to carry heavy bags home in a gale!

Stilty I am very sorry to hear your news, I hope you are feeling just a little less frantic now it has started to sink in. Very wise words from Monnagran about helping the little one deal with it.

Sq massive hugs, please do take lots of time for yourself and look after yourself. Build lots of little breaks into your day to recharge - I find something like a plain piece of knitting very soothing as it occupies hands and mind and helps to calm me down (though I have been accused of knitting as if my life depended on it at particularly anxious times).

DH and I were saying when we were out walking the doggies this morning that hopefully we will all feel a bit brighter once the lighter days come. I am really struggling with being back at work after the break and I having to take my own advice and sit down for a few minutes rather than pushing on with all the jobs that need doing on my day off.

Ginny I hope you are feeling a little better, it's horrid having all these procedures even if we know they are for our own good.

I have presents to wrap as youngest Dd will be 18 tomorrow - so many January birthdays on here - then my Mum will be 83 on Friday and our dear old puss cat will be 15 on Saturday.

Hope to pop into the care home to see Mum later in case I don't make it Friday - she won't know it's her birthday (dementia) but we still keep up the traditions.

Have a gentle day everyone and look after yourselves
