OH went to the depot for as soon as the gates opened, he was there at 7am.... no point sitting on the fence. He took his driving license and passport with him too. He then had to return at 11am for an informal chat over a hot chocolate. It lasted over half an hour. The fatc he knows some of the drivers there, as they had already left the company earlier in the year. To receive the call today and he was crying telling me!! They even emailed the contract of employment and asked for his bank details shows he is gonna be ok. Everything works out in the end, just doesn't feel like it at the time x
And I just had a bubble reading that! So pleased for you, hope you feel better soon.
Arrived safely, it was a good journey but forgot to swipe my chip card for the train from the airport. There are no machines on the train so sat scared witless. No inspector got on thankfully as you get a fine if you haven't swiped the card.
DD had been shopping and made pasta Bolognese for me coming in so all was good.
Have a very happy New year. Xx0 -
Nutty:j:j:Tfantastic news for you and well done to your OH for getting out there - hope the next year is very kind to you. Now you need to rest and get over the lurgy - we are four weeks in and still coughing, been told it takes at least five weeks to get over.
Any plans to pop to the shops before it gets busy have been put on hold as it's a white world out there, very heavy frost and dangerous roads. Will potter about and catch up on jobs first then take a gentle trip out later. We don't need much as we don't have big New Year celebrations.
Sheila how are you? Feeling better, I hope?
Off to put the kettle on (again)! Have a good day everyone and be careful out there.0 -
Good morning and what a good morning it is to wake up to Nutty's news. Well done to your OH.
If I don't get on this thread again today, may I wish you all a very happy new year.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
morning lovlies
5 weeks alfsmum?!!! Hope you are all well soon. I have had 5 days and enough already, hopefully ours is a different bug. Felt so much better yesterday and woke up today feeling worse again and disappointed. DS10 is still sleeping and so hope he is better today. DS8 and DH haven't got it..... hope there isn't a yet.
Sheila - are you ok love? We are getting worried about you now. If you are poorly, please phone the docs.
Our New Year will be our little family same as ever. Cats curled up with us, tree lit, what more could you want. Usually just DH and I seeing in the new year but boys want to stay up so we said they could. I will text my lovely friends in the eve.
I bought some cheap champers on a whim from Alldeedums when I shared my friend's voucher with her. I knew she needed the savings but couldn't afford £75 so I bought some extra winter stocks and the champagne. No special food bought, using up old (but fine) veggies with gammon tomorrow with unopened stollen for pud and tonight is a some stilton, brie and cheddar (cut down on our usual selection), different crackers, grapes, sausage rolls, crisps, dips and salad. Some xmas bics and chocs too if anyone fancies them. No cooking, heaven.
Finally picked up the sewing mountain yesterday. DS10 has 34 pairs of wearable winter PJs in the right size and length at long last. DH's work trousers today and start on the school trousers, all horrible black thread.
Need a 2nd cuppa.... back to check on you all later.... be good now0 -
34 pairs of pajamas SQ? That's quite a lot!
Can't believe the year is almost at an end. I'll be glad to see the back of it TBH.
I'm doing a mystery shop today, at Pizza Express which is rather nice. It will cost us a little bit but not much. Then we have some YS party food for tonight. Great little shop at Mr T's yesterday with some extreme bargain YS sausages and chicken breasts too.
Hope you're OK Sheila.0 -
:Doops! 3 pairs and they took the slowcoach sewer long enough!Possession wrote: »34 pairs of pajamas SQ? That's quite a lot!

Hi everyone, hows you all???
Well today I have some news for you all, I think all your help and prayers have come to us in droves. OH managed to go into work yesterday for 6am and they were all given a notice of redundancy - no surprise there - and told they will receive some paperwork in the post to claim some redundancy pay, holiday pay, overtime and some pay that is for no notice being given.Like an enhanced payment. Nothing will appear in the bank for a couple of months tho.
Now I have a little glimmer of good news. Oh visited another parcel delivery company and they asked him to return later for an informal chat. Today he received a telephone call........ he starts on Monday. Full time and a little more pay!!!!!!!
Relief all over here. I am no better, I have a bad cough but I know we will be ok now OH has another job.
We were due to be on holiday next week, but that's all cancelled now. We have a hotel booked for Monday night at Dartford as we were going to lakeside shopping centre. Anyone fancy a free night away??? I am not worried about it, one thing for sure a job is more important. And I am not feeling that great. It will all pass over eventually.
Take care everyone, and thankyou for all your help x
PM me if you fancy that break away Monday??
nuttyp So thrilled and relieved for you! :j:j:j:j
Shame you had to cancel your break but hopefully you'll be able to fit one in later on.
ETA I do hope Sheila's ok - have a feeling she may have ended up back in hospitalThinking of you Sheila if you're reading this xx

Congratulations Nutty family,
make sure you still fill in all the paperwork though as hubby is still entitled to payments even though he has another job, comes under the "do what you can to help yourself" blurb within the paperwork (like signing on).
We woke to a very hard frost again this morning looked like we had had some snow.
Tonight will be quiet, just myself, DH and pup. DS1 is going to a friends then out, and DS2 is still away in Romania, starts travelling back tomorrow.
It is also our anniversary of getting together; as we haven't married we celebrate this as our anniversary; so 25 years. My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
So we’re empty nesters.
Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman0 -
