Happy New Year lovely people.
The fireworks have been non stop all day and have, of course, just got worse! Apparently they aren't allowed after 1am but we'll see!0 -
SQ WIPS (no H sorry) stands for work in progress. In knitting circles and I expect most other crafts, it is the thing you abandoned to do something else.
I did get to about 8 before Christmas, some were finished for gifts and I determined to start nothing new until they were all finished. Some people find things they started 10 years ago can't find the pattern or the child they were knitting it for has grow up.
Glad to say I only abandoned a few to start knitting gifts. Lots of people have dozens of things just waiting to be sewn up. For some reason most knitters hate sewing.0 -
Happy New Year everyone!
managed to stay up till midnight and am now crawling off to bed. I'm too old to be up this late!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Happy new year to you all, thank you all for your generosity and kindness, you have truly kept me going yet again this year holding me up when I thought I was unable to attend any more.
We had a lovely family evening, treated ourselves to a takeaway and then just dance games, followed by classic Mary Poppins on dvd, before letting in the new year with the boys, both girls having fallen asleep along with OH, you can always guarantee the auties will last the night.0 -
Happy New Year to you all may 2015 be a happy stress free, healthy year for us all with no trials, tribulations or anything to test us xxx0

Happy New Year (I'll wish it again since it's your New Year now!)
Did my first good deed of the year today. Was out for a walk and found somebody's bank card. Phoned the bank to report it, they cancelled it and I just had to chop it up. As always, doing a good deed cost me... over $4 in phone credit by the time I'd navigated their bleedin' "press 2 if your name starts with an S" system. No good deed goes unpunished :rotfl: At least this time we didn't have to hand it into the police.... the last time we found a card the bank we called told us to do that, the problem was we couldn't find a station open. Ended up finding a policeman and handing it to him, which he wasn't impressed by.
Starting the year as we mean to go on, with grassfed butterflied lamb leg with mint and oregano in the oven for tea. Was reduced from $23 to $5 and should do us a few days. I've not had it before, so should be a treat.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I am so happy for you Nutty. My DS1 does the same job as your DH and I know that in December he was doing about 100 parcels a day he is looking forward to being paid next week! May 2015 be a better year for you.
Stilty: good luck with the spotty one. Surely this must be the end of it. Lets hope that he has had more than his dose now and will be spared shingles at any any time in the future. Enjoy your break.
We had a quite wonderful day yesterday visiting DS2 and family. The hilight was watching Mia, who is obsessed with Frozen, dancing and singing 'Let it go', flinging her arms out wide at every 'Let it go'. She had quite a lot of musical instruments (the plastic sort) for Christmas and we took her down a xylophone so we had a family orchestra. It was hilarious - ancient grandparent (me) mad vicar, two exhausted parents, one autistic 13 year-old and a 2 (going on 14) year-old. all banging, shaking and singing untunefully. Thankfully their neighbours are away. Then, because it was a beautiful sunny afternoon we went down the road to the beach. A blissful day.
Back to reality and the prospect of the Manse Open Day on Saturday. The house is beginning to look unnaturally clean and tidy and I have to spend all day tomorrow cooking - mincepies, sausage rolls, mini quiches, cheese scones and brownies. I love it really!
My prayer for all of us is that 2015 will be better than 2014 and that whatever comes our way we will cope with it together.
Bless you all.

monnagran, you've put it better than I could
Love and hugs to you all and wishing you a good 2015.0 -
pinch, punch, first day of the month (and year) and no return ha ha
went to bed about 1am, took ages getting to sleep and so have had a very lazy start to the day. pottered about doing chores for most of the eve as boys were all watching football progs for what seemed like hours so have time off in lieuMade myself a coffee and took it back to bed to read (with shortbread). today will have a bath, cook a nice roast, eat and drink what I fancy and hang out with my little family. Tomorrow hails the start of healthier and other similarly virtuous intentions - obviously not without a little rule bending or snapping from time to time
