            Thanks ivy I'll try
Tumeric is also known as haldi, great served with hot milk. Its a classic Indian recipe.
Its regularly mixed with breast milk or goats milk for aiding digestion, colic, diareaah, confusion. Also can help with constipation.
It helped my dad when he had the flu.
Honey with haldi is even better.
 Colpermine capsules are fab
 Cumin is fab too
Have to say can't stand parsley gives me gas and stomach pain
Well were not at the fundraiser yet, already had the text. Told them I'll pop over later and that I fell down the stairs. Oh is painting the front room today 0 0

a few people talking about sourdough bread really like it never made it how do u make a starter and can u make it in breadmaker?0

Isn't the turmeric supposed to be the root rather than the powder? No idea where you get the root from - tho I live in the Midlands and I am guessing some areas of birmingham will have it.
Have also been reading good things about cinnamon, but apparently yu need Sri lankan rather than the stuff we get.
Grey witch, sourdough is easy but takes some patience.
The starter is just 4oz plain flour and 4 oz bottled water mixed, left for a day
Same the next day and so on for a few days
Google will help and shows you what it looks like at the various stages
I make a no knead sourdough using the method (but not the recipe ) of this bloke
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pHFWAkKnkXgI wanna be in the room where it happens0

There's a turmeric users group on Facebook - they know everything! I believe you have to use a paste? https://www.facebook.com/groups/1622830307942231/?fref=ts
Busy day today. Karate grading this morning, but DS who has been poorly for a few days couldn't do it. DD double-graded to green belt so very pleased with herself. Emergency proofreading job as soon as I got up and some new content writing work, in fact the freelance stuff is getting so busy that I'm not going to bid for any more new work until after we move, otherwise I'm going to find myself in a difficult situation as I'll have to do all packing etc myself.
This afternoon was putting up the Christmas tree and I now have a sulky spaniel who doesn't like it at all.
Tomorrow I will be making a couple of Christmas cakes, was it on here I saw the recipe with only fruit, alcohol (or orange juice) and flour or was that somewhere else entirely?0

Haldi or tumeric powder is from the root itself.
The root is also sometimes know as tamerind. When ground it goes orange red color.
I only know because I asked at the Asian food store:o
You can put the ground tumeric straight into milk without a paste just a matter of giving it a stir to make sure it dissolves0

Possession saw your tree is gorgeous
 Congrats to dad
Think it was on the old style board because were trying that one to this year
Didn't go to any Xmas fairs etc today instead just sat on my backside watching stuff with ds2.
Even passed out at one point.
One more coat in the front room and the walls will be done!
 Then glossing begins0

I saw turmeric root for the first time ever. It was in a basket in a wholefoods shop, near their veg
will be making parkin today and putting marzipan on my cake. Quiet spinning later, I have been able to spin very very finely now so a small chunk of fibre goes a long way, very relaxing
Acid reflux is under control now, no episodes for several days and no rumblings and I may well try one square of dark chocolate tomorrow morning. Will be testing fish today, fish with salad. I made pizza for dh but that would definitely trigger it, I know that. I ate cake yesterday and that was good, moist almond and apple cake, apple slices on the bottom and made with butter and eggs as well as ground almonds and sr flour, so all good

Gorgeous and easy cake, looks fantastic when turned over. I make mine in an 8" tin and bake for 40-45 minutes
I sort of remember someone asking about sourdough and a starter. There is a top class starter that you can buy
 http://bakerybits.co.uk/bakery-ingredients/yeast-and-starters/san-francisco-sourdough-bread-starter.html
if I didn`t have a good starter then that is the one I would buy if I was in a hurry to get going with sd0

Oh Jem I'm so sorry. What a tough time you've been having.
Kittie that apple and almond cake sounds delicious. DS appears to have stopped eating apples so that might be something I need to make.
Feeling bleurgh today but one thing we definitely need to do is search for the missing Christmas presents I must have packed somewhere!0

That's interesting greywitch, thank you! I don't think it ever suppressed my babies' appetites, not that I noticed anyway. But if it does do that, perhaps I'd better start drinking a lot more fennel tea
Hipp is a German organic brand. I remember seeing it while trekking round Boots with DD2 when DGS was a baby. (he's eight) but I don't know when it first appeared over here.
My brother lives in Germany atm and is in a little village near the town where it's made. Hipp is the main employer in the town.
Be back later, time to get ready for church xx0
