Evening Toughies, the concert last night was wonderful and we walked home under a full moon in a very cold and frosty night and saw all the lit Christmas trees in peoples houses, it was like being a child again and now, somehow it's feeling like Christmas. We went on the bus to the bigger town here today, quite a long ride but it's such a nice place to visit and has a little Christmas market set up in the main street where I found the most gorgeous knitted alpaca wool jacket for that Zebra which will be another present from santa. Such fun as we walked through Montpelier, lots of the shops had knitted sheep with name tags in their windows and I think they will all go to one of the local churches to go round the crib in the nativity before Christmas, it's such a nice idea and helps build communities.
I'm off home again tomorrow and looking forward to seeing the Dockling again, Pushkin cat is lots of fun and a lovely boy so I've had lots of cuddled with him here but I'm more used to dogs and their ways. We've lit the woodstove here and the lights are on the Christmas tree and the cat is sitting under it in a carrier bag that had a pair of boots in that DD found today purring loudly so I guess we're all content, Lyn xxx.0 -
Hugs to Kez and Jem I hope you are both better soon. Posting at 2.30am is not resting Kez.
Mar There is a link to lots of home made sweets in a post called "Home Made Sweets" some lovely stuff I thought about making some myself. Just for us as I can't really afford to buy boxes of chocolates this year. I think it would be nice to have a few.
I don't think I would risk the raw egg. There are candied fruits like oranges and lemons, I love them. I think you could probably get hundreds more home made sweet ideas from googling them.0 -
I thought I read all but it was over the page. Wet day here. I hope to get my cards finished writing today. Will post tomorrow. Hopefully another parcel off they are so expensive more than the cost of the presents.
Today was the first day of any appreciable rain and guess what? Yes the bay window roof is still leaking in the same place. All together 4 people have looked at it and still they have not done the right job. In the meantime we have been moved to a new office. We are now under Leeds which makes more sense than Milton Keynes. I hope I can get somewhere with them. Here's hoping they will be better than Milton Keynes were.
I think I have finally got someone to agree that the first person who took the reading on our meter was not listening properly or they lost the zero at the beginning between the phone and the computer. I hope they sort it out we move over to OVO on Friday.0 -
MAR how about some sugared almonds, some nougat, shortbread biscuits, some shelled nuts, cinder toffee (honeycombe),liquorice, marzipan fruits, glace fruits (usually quite expensive though), brandy snaps, mint humbugs, aniseed balls mint imperials? all of them 'old fashioned' sweeties.0

Couldn't sleep at all, finally conked out at 6am and back up before 9am.swear zombie has more energy than me.
Today has been considerably more restful. My wonderful friend arrived today for family sheep shearing day.
So drank lots of tea, hot bagels in between cutting all our hair. She wouldn't accept more than £20 annoyingly. We laughed about me yelping like a pup while she waxed my eyebrows. Omg its burns, swear birth was easier.
Told me all kind of tales about bikini hair line waxing, she is a mobile beautician, mad as a box of frogs. But we love her to bits.
Hopefully going to visit her in next couple of weeks0 -

Been reading and lurking.
We had our first heavy dump of snow last week. A couple of nasty cold days down in the -20s. Couldn't get the Collie out more than twice a day and even then he was fast!
Got the first of the Christmas decorations up in the living room. Doing the tree next weekend.
Have to get ready to leave soon as I have to pick up my oldest soon. He's been down in Calgary for the weekend and he didn't leave his car at work, so Mum's taxi has been ordered!0
