You lot are a tonic :D thanks for the support. She's an idiot ;):D:rotfl:

My day started by scrubbing limescale from a lady's toilet with a pumice stone  (it worked too!) and went further downhill when o broke down thinking I had saw Alfie. DH is calling to see how he is. We haven't called as it hurts to much but I need to know he's ok. DH is also goingt o write to the LL to ask if we can have a dog. If Alfie is in trouble we want to bring him home. All of us miss him like crazy, the issue is the elephant in the room, the only regret we have about moving. If the LL says yes then we will try to get him back. The chances are slim, if not impossible, but knowing how difficult he was he maybe problematic for the rehoming place. i'm just all over the place with it today. I don't miss my family and friends up north at all, but I miss him like you wouldn't believe. Sorry, I know it's garbled.

Fuddle hope your landlord okays the pet idea. If so, and you manage to track down Alfie and get him back, all well and good. If not Alfie, then there are plenty of dogs and cats in rescue places crying out for good homes. Our two cats came from Cats Protection League. We paid £60 for junior cat, sounds a lot but she was neutered, microchipped and given her first year's vaccinations all included in the price so bargain.

I bought a diabetic cookbook, "Blood Sugar" by Michael Moore. It's a big book full of diabetic recipes - if anybody wants it give me the postage and it's yours. I am not a cook lol and this stuff if waaayy beyond me.

fuddle I hope he says yes too, you must stand a good chance as you have improved the property.

If Alfie is not available that means he has a good home. There are thousands of animals needing a good home.

Fuddle what a lovely though. I too hope alfie has a nice home and is settled. If he isn't then it would make him extra happy to see you. Our buddie is so naughty, think we need puppy classes as he is getting naughty on his lead now. He tries to chase cars, bikes nad growls at everyone he doesn't know. Apart from that hes house trained, clean and very loving to his family and DD dog ratchet. they are about the same age.

Fingers crossed for you fuddle x

Alfie is with the people who chose him last year. It's good news in that he has stability and hopefully, as they've not given up on him, can cope with his little ways. In a way it's better to have this info now than to have done it earlier on. At least they're committed. I just hope he's alright. He will be alright :)

I guess we all have to deal with the decisions we make in life. DH and I are going to talk in length about asking for permission from the LL. I think we've proven ourselves to be respectful of the property and decent tenants but only as a door opener. I'm not sure I want another dog because I'm scared I won't feel the same as I did with Alfie... although every dog makes me smile as I walk past. So yeah, a bit overwhelmed. I think I have tried so hard to not deal with the upset of losing him that coming up to our year anniversary of living here it's bitten out of the blue.

OS, ok apart from the pumice stone down the loo  I've a bit of pork in the oven to have a roast dinner. I'm working all weekend so this will be our Sunday dinner.

The heating is on but it feels warmer so I will knock the rads down a bit in a minute.

Not crocheting tonight in favour of reading. I didn't sleep till 1.30am last night and I suspect it's pattern following waking my brain :rotfl:

 System insisted my post was too short, but it wasn't, and haven't the energy to do it all again so for now I will just wish Lyn a speedy recovery. Don't try to do all the things you usually do --We know what you're like! x

ETA: big (((HUGS))) Fuddle, i can imagine how much you miss him but if he's still with the people who chose him last year it sounds as if he's all right. Hope LL agrees to your having a pet if you do decide it's the way to go x
  • Oh yes you will love another little doggie friend just as much as you loved Alfie my friend, I'm so pleased you have laid the ghost and actually made the contact to find out if he's OK now. As you say the elephant in the room can now lay down and have a rest. Given that your new home is bijou, if they say yes would you consider having a smaller dog to be your pal? Do some research on breeds and see who you like. We had Border Terriers and they are small enough to pick up and put where you want them to be but many other small breeds are nice too. When He Who Knows was a kiddler his parents had a minature poodle, wonderful as the coat doesn't shed and bright as a button, the best playmate an only child could have wanted. That might be an option as the house would stay cleaner. Whatever you do decide it will make you all happy again. Our lovely neighbours rent and wanted a puppy for years and the answer was always no until last year when the owners said yes but they had to put more money down as deposit in case the pup damaged anything in the house and now they have Brodie who is a black cocker spaniel and is wonderful in every way and he is my friend, oh my word he is a cutie!!! We'll all keep everything crossed that the answer is yes if you do ask.

I managed to sleep for a couple of hours this afternoon, I say managed but I didn't have any choice in it, just happened. This horrid virus is definately changing as I'm now coughing much harder and it's loosening which brings its own set of problems but says to me that it's on it's way out HOORAH!!! DD took Zebra to see some fireworks at an organised display at the zoo and he loved it we've just had some pictures of a little face full of wonder and beaming smiles, so cute.

Thanks IVYLEAF but moribund slug mode is all I've been able to manage for the last few days and even that has been an effort! I have made myself take Docky out for his afternoon walk though, it does us both good to get the fresh air but other than that it's been dozing in the chair and pottering, Lyn xxx.
