  • Morning all,

I haven't ventured to open the curtains yet,but it sounds very wet outside.

Mrs. LW, I hope your cold has improved today. If not, can I offer a hot honey and lemon with a slice of toast from home made bread?

Fuddle, perhaps you could give your girls a very large sheet of paper, they could decorate it and then you could write Aunty on it and fold it up small enough to fit into a standard envelope. If she wants a big card, send her a big card. Something tells me that isn't quite what she had in mind. She may not have meant it as a direct insult, but the two of you are certainly very different. Sometimes you just have to have a bit of fun with these things.

Last night's dinner was lovely. The paprika really spiced up the stew and I made some HM brown rolls to go with it. It smelled so good all afternoon and even OH commented when he came in. He said he was glad we're together otherwise he would have stopped for a kebab and he was happier eating nice and healthy things.:o

Nutty and SQ, it never rains but it pours, doesn't it? I'm trying not to think about how much we've spent on replacements and repairs this month and instead feel proud we've eked it out with some planning and some budget stretching and haven't gone into debt. It is so frustrating when you think you've caught up and something new pops up. Nutty I would definitely ask for details of when and how they notified you of the rent increase. Your lease probably has details of how they are required to do things like this. In ours, it requires everything to be in writing and I believe it might require the LL to keep proof of posting on file in the event that they change rent etc. Yours is probably different but I'd be surprised if there weren't some kind of requirement for how you must be notified. Of course, just fighting these battles can be so exhausting when you've so much else on.

Hugs to any and all who need them.

Give us your sister's name and address fuddle and the entire OS gang will all send her a tacky Aunty card timing it so they all arrive on the same day. She won't be able to get out of her house due to the pile on her front doormat!

    Excellent idea nargleblast!

Well, I went with OH to the doc y'day and the entire appointment was spent discussing OH's sleep and snoring etc. He sometimes stops breathing when he's asleep (he has a habit of rolling onto his back and flinging one arm, or sometimes both arms, above his head. No one can breathe easily like that for long.) so he's being referred to the respiratory clinic at the hospital, presumably to see if he needs to go to a sleep clinic (which would be at another hospital, hopefully not as awkward a journey as the one nursemaggie has to put up with). Glad the new machine's helping, maggie :)

Raining here and I've just had to go into the garden to separate our cat and his deadly enemy, Grey Cat From Over The Back, who were rolling around in a snarling, spitting ball. Cat is currently sulking under the hedge. We are his fifth "owners" (more like staff) in the neighbourhood and he's been living with us nearly 4 years, and has cost us more in vet's fees than all our previous cats put together. My friend always refers to him as "your gentleman lodger"! He's such a character though that even OH, who insists he can take or leave cats, is besotted.
  • Morning Toughies, FPK thanks for the kind offer, I'm still feeling like I've been run over by a tank and soooo tired, I don't remember a head cold like this for ages and so wish it would hurry up and run its' course and go.

FUDDLE my lovely I would spell AUNTY as ANTI!!!

    Get well wishes Mrs LW.
I was feeling a bit fed up this morning and saw my friend at school who looked even more fed up so invited her back to mine for a coffee. She is the only person I feel comfortable inviting back to a mess - not 100% comfortable, still apologised but ok enough. Had a good old chinwag then she went home to tidy her respective mess!
I don't know quite what to do first here and really have a load of shopping both food and non-food that I could also be doing. If in doubt eat peanut butter on toast - done that so off to tackle the kitchen next  . Sun has just come out so that is already cheering me up some more :)

poor cat ivyleaf. Our cats are chickens, we have to scare the baddies away whilst our 2 look on - then they pretend they have seen them off! Our boys have names for many of the local cats - fluffball, the neighbourhood cat, etc

I waited 60 years to have a cat of my own and I'm loving every second!
Yesterday was hellish here, so cold and so wet and the wind was awful. I had the big stone pig filled with boiling water and in bed, along with another HWB to cuddle lol. Milder today and calm.
Went a rare trip up to Edinburgh to look round some shops with the daughter so tired & sore today so taking it easy. Next has gorgeous stuff but my god it's dear!

Mar I did a mystery shopping thingy at Next last night, and I thought exactly the same. I reckon they price for the half price sale. My daughter was SO excited to be a mystery shopper though, she thinks she's a detective now.

My 2 used to love it too Possession - we had a regular monthly MS job at a local bowling alley, they thought it was the best job ever! I must look into joining up with a few again, they'd fit in nicely around my other stuff.

The wind is fierce here today and it was lashing down earlier, not sure tonights village fireworks will go ahead. DD's aren't fussed, they'll be happy with a fire, a onesie and a film to watch. It's lovely that they're not the "clubbing and pubbing" types, we do enjoy their company for a family film night.

Luckily for me I've never liked nex t stuff, I won't pay their prices and most of its silly sized too, I've friends that are complete ne xt snobs and won't wear or buy anything else....more fool them I say.

If anyone likes the stretchy bra tops found in most shops now, Mr S has some reduced to £3 each - bit garish colour wise but good value and they wash well.

Well hello everyone, lots happening here today. Woke up to lots of rain and very windy. Said puppy refused to go outside and ended up using his puppy pad as it was far too wet for him to go outside. Bless him, he looked so guilty afterwards.

We eventually ventured to the local shop for the paper, walked with my mum and lil puppy. Was very very cold tho. Came home to the phone ringing like mad. OH had an accident at work this morning. A cage full of parcels, the door swing open in a sudden breeze that made its way through an open shed door and cut his forehead open. He ended up in a & e for 2 hours and had his head glued back together. He is currently curled up on the sofa with a blanket over him. He is snoring a bit but keeps waking up. All he keeps saying is he has a minging headache. I had to drive nearly 20 miles to his workplace to collect him.

I arranged with the council to pay off a little every month to clear the balance. To be fair we get a rent free week in December so will use that money to clear any arrears we have by still paying in. At least we still have out house, and they understood it was a genuine error as I pay weekly.

Will pop by later on x

Your poor DH nutty - not surprised he had a headache! Glad you got the rent sorted.
    How is DS's eye kidcat?
I never buy anything in Nutx either - way too expensive. A couple of times I had gift vouchers given to me and I ended buying a gift for someone else to put away. Having said that in the early days when a little romancing went on, DH bought me a couple of little silver jewellery bits - they were lovely, reasonably priced and I still have them.
Always fancied a bit of mystery shopping myself - just up my street! When I get caught up with things (:rotfl:so never) I will investigate. I could do with a few more pennies in the pot. I do a couple of surveys, one is a Tosspots one and I love saying I prefer other supermarkets :p - well they want honest opinions - and I get points for the pleasure :D
The house is reasonable, it will have to do as I'm bushed. Having a quick cuppa before I hunt for the spare mobile charger - fingers crossed everyone.

Oh Lyn just curl up on the sofa, give Docky a cuddle and let someone else spoil you like you spoil everyone else. Hope your better soon.

Love the anti for Fuddle's sister. Think she just forgot to engage her brain before putting her mouth in gear. Hope DD did not hear. She is the important one in this.

Ivyleaf I knew what the Dr suspected when you said you had to go to the doc with your OH . Don't thing the arms above the head would hurt DS slept like that for his first five years still does sometimes. We used to say he had surrendered.

I have had a CPAP machine for nearly 10 years it is just that I have had a Del boys Reliant Robin and now I have a Rolls Royce.

If you have a car OH won't have a journey like mine it is only half an hour directly in a car. It is just that Arriva have made a pigs ear of organising the whole thing. It must be the worse privatisation ever.

I knitted a sleeve and a half while waiting to go home. I made someone want to start knitting again especially once she knew I was knitting for my grandson. Some of the people there go every day for months for 15 minutes of radiotherapy then hang around 5 to 8 hours waiting to be taken home. They are the people who can't afford to have a car so they certainly can't afford to pay the extortionate prices they charge for food. I can understand why they don't bring anything they leave home at 7am and get home at 10pm. They are ill they don't feel up to cooking when they get home nor preparing something to take with them. I feel it is wrong there ought to be provision for them. The cafe closes at 4pm the restaurant at 3pm. There was someone who came everyday from Telford. That must be horrendous.

I hope your run of breakages are finished SQ and your run of bad luck Nutty.
