Morning toughies...... Well I finally have a whole day off to myself. I am visiting @ldi this morning. Need to take DD to n look and dotty p to look for some more collage clothes. I have been to primarny in the past but after a little while they never seam to last. For a couple of pound extra I suppose its worth getting her a nice top.
I had a nice meal last night, never would I ever pay to go there - for 6 of us it cost £170. But thankyou area manager!!! I met our new manager and his wife. Was nice to be thanked for holding the fort for so long single handled for so long. Hopefully we can all continue to get on, looks like we will do our basic hours of 37 1/2 in 3 or a half days or 4 days. At least with 3 full days off it will feel better. We are also getting more cashier hours so my loyal lucy will be happy. She covers anything, and is so lovely - calling me mummy at work. Nice be thought of as so careing.
The doctors visit went sort of well, ive been refered again. I have a tear in the bowel so I expect it wont be long. Well I hope not!!!!
Still not feeling much better but I am taking all my tablets.
take care all x xBSC member 137

Nutty I'm glad you've got a day off - make sure you rest! Good news that something is getting done at last I hope they can do something quickly and get you off the medication.
Sheila that's great news that your foot is feeling so much better!
Well it's an Inset day for DD today so half term has officially started. Of course I've got a job to apply for and a piece I need to write for someone's forum blog that he is very kindly going to pay me £5 for. I'm hoping I can manage to write freelance for various websites but it will take time to build up so it's very nice of him to give me a start.
DD is currently planning her shoebox for Operation Christmas Child, a very worthy cause and I'm sure I can rustle up some things to go in it but I certainly don't want to buy much as I'm worried enough about providing my own two with enough for Christmas. I've already found some bits and pieces that can go in there though and I'm sure we've got some as new gloves and hat because I always bought them in the sales and have far too many. Ours always seem to go to Eastern Europe rather than Africa so warm things are better but I'm sure they all get mixed up at their distribution centre anyway.0 -

ivyleaf I shouldn't have anything to worry about as the condition of the house on our check in inventory was poor and we have brought it up to high. It's just stressful having some office person come round my home with a clip board and a nod.
I had a lie in8.30am we awoke and rose. The milk man has left a loaf of bread that I didn't order. It doesn't look like it has been invoiced. Problem being I have ordered the weekend bread to arrive with the shopping later (as it's cheaper) and don't have room in the freezer for it. Any ideas for 400g of wholemeal bread? :rotfl:
The plan today is to go to the local garden centre to look at their christmas gubbings. We haven't been there yet plus we'll call next door to h0bbycraft to get some felt squares. They are 50p, which I find too expensive, but it's only a couple of miles down the road and to travel to The R4nge would be more petrol (DH working so using my micra) so I have made an executive decision. :rotfl: The girls will make a halloween mask.
Just shouted at some work men :rotfl: I live in the middle house of a street of 3. My neighbours house is connected to a low lying canopy connecting the houses to the block of garages. We all go under that to park out the back of the houses. In the summer a work van squeezed itself under there and damaged the canopy. My neighbour had to fix the problem. She paid for a sign to go over the canopy saying the height at the front, height at the back (it lowers at the back) strictly residents parking, no trade vehicles. When I got my milk I found a van trying to squeeze itself under with the passenger carefully watching him under... head right next to the sign! Queue me springing into action for my neighbour "Hew lad, can you not read! It's lower at the back, you won't fit! Please drive round because if you don't I will photograph your van because you will cause damage!"He give me a thumbs up, got in the van and reversed back. :rotfl: Honestly. People are so selfish sometimes. I guess you shouldn't mess with a woman who has had a lie in :rotfl: either that or my scalding, low Northern accent shocked 'im.
We have begun Christmas shopping for the girls. We are being as savvy as possible. DH shopped the Sainsbu4y toy sale yesterday and I have a few things on my Amazon wish list which I am watching for a price drop, then will pounce. Actually I think I will try out the SC fudge recipe today as I am determined to make home made gifts for my neighbours and friends that will appreciate them. Family up North? Well my sister's two are getting a onsie and sleep socks as are my two from my sister but I am going to get the girls' and wrap and she is going to get her two's and wrap. Saves postage I suppose but feels wrong really. I will send a nice gift for DH's sisters little girl. Mam and Sis I will send a gift card (don't really care) and MIL not too sure. Something nice. She is buying us a year subscription/parking to the country park. Money is tight for her (really worried) as she is due to retire this year but as she hasn't enough NIC's she doesn't think she can because she has debt
Speaking of which, we now only have 9 months in the shadow of our BR. You know what that means? After that we won't need to worry about finding a private rental and will be able to go for any house we choose without worrying about failing the credit check. That feeling is sure to bring a great sense of calm.
So, about to get my arris in gear and fly through the house. It's not bad but want to concentrate on dusting.
Sorry about the huge post :rotfl: Tonight's meal is chilli with jacket potatoes and lunch will be summat that uses wholemeal bread.0 -
Fuddle, what about toasties for lunch and a bread and butter pudding for after tea tonight?0
-
Or can you split the loaf and squeeze a few slices here and there in the freezer?0
-
So need to get on to the issue of toastie making devices. Dreaming of cornedbeef and onion toasties now. I am going to do a little bread and butter pudding for the girls' supper. I'll prepare then stick it in with jacket potatoes later (will start off in microwave though, I just like to finish the potatoes in the oven)
Good idea re: splitting the loaf. I dare say there's enough room for that.
Anyone have any way of working out how much a 'cup' is with regard to American recipes?
Fancy doing easy crockpot fudge this afternoon.0 -
Morning all
This weather is driving me scatty! Yesterday is was really chilly, this morning it's thick sea fog and drizzle so I popped a jumper, jeggins and long boots on and took a big waterproof coat out with me but it's really mild (showing as 18 on the car thermometer!) I just want it to be proper seasonal temperatures. Moan over.
Nutty - Hope you get some rest today and some help with your tummy soon. Glad you enjoyed your meal last night and you finally have some help.
Possession - How's the house viewings going? Hope you're chasing the agent up. Great news on the writing work - it all helps.
Fudds - Lots of toasties over the next few days should sort you out - maybe blitz some up as breadcrumbs (easier to poke a pack of breadcrumbs in the freezer than a whole loaf).
I've been doing a bit of Christmas shopping today - DD's have pointed out a few bits they'd like so I've managed to secret them away. I think I'm nearly done now. They're both having a new mattress topper (memory foam) which I will buy nearer the time which whilst not a traditional Christmas gift will be very well appreciated. DD1's electric blanket has given up too so will be pricing up a new one for her birthday next month.
Slow cooker banana porridge for lunch (cos I forgot to turn the slow cooker on before bed last night) and a bit of a picky tea with cheese, pate, crackers and some reduced dips with veggie sticks. I love picky tea night."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Fuddle, the easiest way is to measure out stuff in a liquid measuring cup. 1 american cup is about 237 ml in volume. If you want to do it by weights it gets more complicated as a cup of flour does not weigh the same as a cup of butter. Since I use both American recipes from my family etc. and British recipes I have both, so if there is something specific you would like for me to check let me know.0

Hi everyone
It is dry here but much colder today. I heard my wee neighbour's son cutting her grass for her earlier. I had done ours a few weeks ago, so maybe there will be another cut if it stays dry. My neighbour is in her eighties bless her and her son always does the garden for her, which is lovely to see. I have been catching up on you all. So many going through health worries, a scan, tests, money worries, school worries etc. I have lots of hugs to give and am sending those who need one x
Lyn I know you will have enjoyed little Zebra coming to stayI have been really busy in real life
but do pop on here when I can and I never forget here. My wee grandson Caleb was here last Thursday with his Mummy and we had lunch, after she fed the little man
He is crawling and will be 10 months on the 30th. He is such a bright light in our lives Lyn and we just love him so much. His Mummy is going back to work next month and is not looking forward to that but needs must. She will be okay once she settles into a different routine again. She is a great Mum and Dad is great too, so we are so happy for them. I have all the Christmas cards written out addressed, stamps bought, (some will be hand delivered) and presents all bought and wrapped. I am still loving helping out at Mums and Toddlers, and am enjoying my FutureLearn course online. I am still knitting and reading too. Lyn would you mind giving me the recipe for lentil soup please if you can? I would love to make some and I do have lentils in my stores right now. Thank you so much Lyn Have a good weekend everyone and hope it is a relaxing one for you. Margaret xx p.s dh did not get the job he applied for but they are keeping his c.v on file. He was disappointed but he still counts himself fortunate to have the job he has.
Do a little kindness every day.;)0
