Have dd's fiance and a friend of another dd here so making lunch for eight. Managed to get beast cheeks from local butcher so having these slow cooked in casserole pot with roast potatoes, mixed veg and mashed turnip and carrots and small yorkies.

Remembered to change clocks and timing lunch for two.

DH had chemo on Friday but seems to be coping better this time, maybe because he is taking meds properly. Two weeks of treatment still to go with daily hospital trips and then nearly three weeks for him to recover a bit before DD's wedding down south.

So pleased he managed to eat a boiled egg :j Sounds like such a small thing to celebrate but so chuffed.

Suggested once his treatment finishes and hopefully he feels a bit better that we become a bit selfish and do a couple of things as a couple every week. DDs are all now in their twenties so we need not feel we should be home 24/7.

Made everyone who wanted it a cooked breakfast, loaded dishwasher and have meat in oven and par boiled potatoes ready to roast for lunch so just veg to do later which will not take long.

Keeping DH company while he has a rest before I start on lunch preps again in an hour.

    Hugs to all.

Crumbs, you're having a busy day elona! i bet lunch was yummy.

That's really great about the boiled egg :T And a really good idea to spend more time doing nice things as a couple :)

Elona, Chickens & Nutty P - virtual hugs to you all & Mcculloch

Really busy day yesterday so very glad to get a bit more sleep, even though neighbours had as noisy crowd round ( not done often) did manage to get to sleep OK.
Having a 'scrappy' day today as I'd not got very organised so chilli & baked spud for Sunday dinner - DH quite happy though ;)

DS2 popped round - he's getting on very well although still not working full time. His parner had booked a long weekend in New York earlier this year & doctor has said its OK for him to go. He's made sure he's got plenty of insurance just in case!!!! We were talking about it & he reckoned his NHS treatment must have cost in the region of 100K - no one in our family will have a word said about the local NHS.
My ex and his wife celebrate their 40th anniversary and are taking DS1 & 2 & their partners to a dinner today, along with some of their friends and their own daughter & hubby & little grandson BUT DS2 has a daughter who'se now 20 & she's not been invited. I have no issues with ex at all & I quite understand that DGD may not have wanted to attend - think she's working anyway - but its such a shame that he seems to forget all about her & how hurtful it can be to DS2.
I gave DS a big hug & told him that DH & I love her very much & he just said 'Yes mum I know' . Still cuts me up on his behalf though.....:(

Anyway - enough!! Having a girly lunch tomorrow with an old workmate so nice to catch up & DGD is coming round in the evening for her Nan to pluck her eyebrows for her while she does Nan's roots & we'll have a cuddle & a laugh.

What a very pleasant weekend we've had here. A friend and his partner came over from Italy and we've been doing touristy things with them. The friend is one of DH's friends from Oxford, and he and his partner who are 20 yrs or so older than us, are making provision for wills etc. They have asked us to have power of attorney etc so wanted a chat about that. When in the garden with them I spotted a roof tile which has migrated down the roof though, must be in those high winds last week. Not the best thing before a house viewing tomorrow, hope they don't notice! I shall have to get it fixed.
Hugs to all those who need them.

Hello Camelot, pull up a chair, pour yourself a cuppa.
  • Hi guys , gosh life moves at a pace doesn't it?

Mrs LW I didn't even notice the extra hour, I slept through my alarm so had about 10 hours solid sleep, proberley the first time in weeks.

Elorna , my late DH and I had the same positive out look , we laughed and joked about everything . Those moments of laughter get me through the days . Hugs and strength .

Chickens , I do the same, I see wives and partners moaning at there other halves and I want to tell them to stop and appreciate what they still have, and at times I feel so lonely . But trying to keep busy .
It's my nephews birthday tomorrow and he wants a nerf gun , so brought him one and I've spent the weekend turning random bits of cardboard, kebab sticks and hot glue in to 2 sets of targets , they look awesome lol .
I am hoping to go to a friends birthday next week wnd it's fancy dress , 60's so any OS ideas ladies ?
Hugs, love and strength to everyone.
    Welcome Camelot , it's a great bunch on here . X
    Xx CC

Argghhh - just lost a post!

Just to say welcome aboard Camelot and mine's a tea, milk, no sugar!

Having a fab weekend with a group of families who all have visually impaired 0-5 year olds, Miss Stilty making friends and charming all and sundry.

Show off mummy moment (may be TMI - sorry) but Young Master Stilty is discovering what boys do standing up at the toilet!!!! Whoop Woo we've had more than a coincidental number of piddles in the toilet and several dry pull us - 1 day he even wore the same one all day. I'm sure you'll all understand why I'm quite so excited as 3 1/2 is still really young for a child with his disabilities to be getting the idea.

Headed up the M6 to my parents tomorrow with more excitement planned for Tuesday consisting of a meet up of more AAC (electronic communication device) users - good job we've remembered Miss Stilty's battery booster!

Catch you all later - hugs all round - Hx

    welcome camelot :)

wow CC thats a cool gift, my DS10 would love that kind of thing too :)

good luck tomorrow with the viewing :)

silvasava - sometimes people just dont realise how hurtful these things are

I am exhausted, we went to look at a car today - 63 miles away, it was awful, very very tatty and certainly not worth the price, OH is getting desperate to just buy something so was trying to push me into agreeing. Rather fortunately I needed the loo and rather than argue left him to tell the guy we wanted to discuss it and come back tomorrow, I then headed off into the nearby pub :)
Really glad I left it now, although ours is seriously ill as I think I have found one to look at tomorrow. So I am off on my travels again, praying my little tank keeps going until we have replaced him :)

ETA - stilty what a clever boy, both mine were past 5 before we had dry days. Ironically though when DS10 eventually got it then he was dry at night straight away, DS16 took very much longer though. Have fun tomorrow :)

Well done little Mr Stilty - huge milestone :T:T

Hugs to those in need of them. Elona, its not a need to be selfish its grabbing life by the horns and doing things that make you smile. Here we make the most of the little pleasures as we cannot manage big ones anymore so once a week we try and do something even if its only lunch out or a wee trip to a railway exhibition.

Chickens and Aot hope the healing keeps going well and you are both soon pain free.

Cornish, you and hubby dealt with everything with such dignity and I think of you often during my dark days, it keeps my chin firmly up.

Dgs decided this clock malarky wasnt his thing and got up at 4 am :eek: I rang his mummy at 8.30 and told her we were bringing him home as his routine went to pot and wanted to go home at 7am. However he has amazed us this weekend, he decided to let us into a secret - he can read :j We had an inkling when he googled 'Mr Maker' last week but yesterday he spelled fish, cat and dog for daddy with his bricks. When he came here he spelled Octopus then googled Pingu, read cbeebies off the tv menu and generally read lots of things. He eventually had a nap for mummy at 2pm - how does he do it??? I was asleep by 11 am :D

Hubby excelled his self earlier and gave himself a black eye - really stupid, bent down to cupboard and hit the edge of the work surface. luckily he had an eye test yesterday so wont be going in this week with only one eye working
