AOT Glad you had your op in the end
Wishing you a speedy recovery. My friend had both hers done on one day :eek::eek: Her husband had to take time off work to look after her.
Savingqueen - thinking of you all as you make your choice. Go with your gut if possible.0 -
AOT......So glad youve had your wrists done , I had mine done too about 8 year ago now, it is quite painful for several weeks after that op, you will feel very very tender , if I remember correctly I couldnt even let anything slightly touch my wrists and it was so tender , id rather have my feet done than carpals if I had a choice ..............
Im doing better as each day comes , I got outside this arvo and decided id prune a couple small bushes , I was on tip toes on operated foot and on the right foot , but it didnt take long for my right foot to refuse to take all the load , it ached like mad, so in I come after only doing one bush, definitely going to have that foot done as soon as surgeon will book me in , I will ask on Monday .......
I have to turn my clocks back tonight very reluctantly , I dont like long dark evenings at all, but cant do much about that , be glad when January get here.....It sounds as if a lot of you have started your christmas shopping , that very good if youve got lots of presents to get , im glad I give gift tokens or cash , that way I dont get to buy them items that they dont want , plus im not getting exhausted with shopping........
Been such a beautiful today .....
Hope your all ok and are having a peaceful weekend...SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
I assume you all remembered to put your clocks back and are (in some cases at least) having a leisurely start to your day, as i am0

So much for the extra hour to lie in? I was awake at 6 and got up and made tea!!! Where would this world be any way acceptable at that time of the morning without a nice cuppa???0

Morning ladies
Ivy everything happened automatically here, other than the kitchen clock, I must admit to being a little wary as to the proper time until I had seen the clock
especially as DS10 was still asleep at 8.30 - something I can't remember in many years!!
Sheila - its lovely to hear how you are improving so much
AOT - ouchy, hope things improve just as quickly for you
We still have a house of poorlies, with DD8 being unaffected. DS16 went into college on Friday but is still coughing badly, DD20 is looking worse and DS10 is not much better either, all meds are due to finish tomorrow so I think I will need to make a block booking to get all seen again
The last of my Christmas main parcels arrived yesterday and with it brought a much calmer feeling and a peacefulness to know that for the most part its all done. I have teachers gifts to make, my parents to buy for (Nat Trust membership) then stocking fillers for the kids. All of which could be done in one day of online shopping if for any reason I can't get out and about.
Yesterday I sorted our store cupboard out, had a big tidy up in there and things are now visible again, with space to do a bit more winter preparation. Aiming to get enough basics like cereal bought to last one month, just in case of a really bad snow again. Have got pet food all sorted, so we are a month ahead with that, but I will need to get organised with cat litter this week.
If anyone is like me and behind with their winter prep and looking for winter wear, I managed Costc@ on Friday and stocked up on laundry stuff and bleach, but also bought DS10 a pair of winter snow boots which are lovely fur lining and very warm, I plan on popping back this week to get DD8 a pair too. DS16 has announced he would like a pair!! DD20 picked herself a pair of the Uggy type boots so I think we are almost there on the snow/heavy winter preparations too.0 -
Have dd's fiance and a friend of another dd here so making lunch for eight. Managed to get beast cheeks from local butcher so having these slow cooked in casserole pot with roast potatoes, mixed veg and mashed turnip and carrots and small yorkies.
Remembered to change clocks and timing lunch for two.
DH had chemo on Friday but seems to be coping better this time, maybe because he is taking meds properly. Two weeks of treatment still to go with daily hospital trips and then nearly three weeks for him to recover a bit before DD's wedding down south.
So pleased he managed to eat a boiled egg :j Sounds like such a small thing to celebrate but so chuffed.
Suggested once his treatment finishes and hopefully he feels a bit better that we become a bit selfish and do a couple of things as a couple every week. DDs are all now in their twenties so we need not feel we should be home 24/7.
Made everyone who wanted it a cooked breakfast, loaded dishwasher and have meat in oven and par boiled potatoes ready to roast for lunch so just veg to do later which will not take long.
Keeping DH company while he has a rest before I start on lunch preps again in an hour.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Yes but isnt it nice having lighter mornings ? thats why you were up at the crack, and like you say Lyn a cuppa is first thing on my mind in the mornings........
Got a bit of cloud here but its still not even cool outside, plus the grass keeps growing......
ELONA.....Sorry to hear about OH , but like you say when he feels able to go out a little way then you have to make time to do that , enjoy the smaller things in life together......I miss my OH so much , when he was pre stroke 6 years ago, its very lonely now , espeically when I see couples out together in DIY shops and that sort of thing and im on my own , and the woman is constantly moaning at her husband and I always think to myself " look after him while you have him", cos you would hate to be in my shoes........It just seem to be the weekends I need company , im not bored at all as theres always something that has to be done , just a bit lonely.......
In the co op this week they have whitworths currants /sultanans on offer so if any of you are thinking about making your christmas puds /cakes now the time to do it .....sheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -

I blush to say that a few months ago I would have been one of the tetchy women!:o
Since mid August i have adopted the attitude that nothing is a problem and we stay as positive as we can and do anything and everything that might help.
He now knows clearly how much we all love him and how much we are all behind him. DD even moved her wedding forward to the end of November instead of next February which is sweet
Had nice long shower and feel much better and ready to rush round finishing lunch.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Hi all, yes its true I often think we are so lucky. I have a home, warmth and food. We have bills but don't we all!! but I am lucky to have a job and the ability to progress.
DD is due to move next weekend, so we will be extra busy. This week I am intending to rest as much as possible. My astmah is better and my cough is not as bad.
Take care all xBSC member 137

I must admit that I don't really miss doing things as a couple any more. I did for sometime after my separation, then had a few relationships that went well, even though we eventually split up. I stayed friends with the guys concerned.
My ex husband was a lot older than me, he left me and our two children, then 14 and 9, for an older woman who mothered him, as that's what he wanted. I am 14 years younger than him and he used to refer to me as 'Mother'. I hated it. I wasn't his mother and had no desire to be.
I love the fact that I can do what I want to do in my own house, broadly speaking, although I still have my DS31 at home.
He has been extremely difficult to live with at times, which is another reason why I don't miss being a couple!
Fortunately he has got much easier as he's matured, though he has the odd wobble.
A lot of it is unresolved anger against his father who wasn't there for him when he needed him.
Luckily he has his sister to chat things through with. She is very wise for her years and very self-aware. :A
My ex was very, very difficult to live with and my Dad wasn't the easiest either, lovely though he was in many ways.
Summarising, in my case, happiness at home is the absence of something bad, I've not much experience of it being the presence of something good, as far as a live in partner goes. I know that sounds a bit self pitying, but that's the way my cookies crumbled.
I was fortunate in other areas, notably in being able to study and build a dream career when the children were grown.
I have hobbies that enhance my life so much and wonderful friends. Until 5 years ago I had good health and even now, I am able to work from home.
I never moved any boyfriends in to my home, and that was wise, in retrospect.
My daughter has a very solid, stable (touches wood) long term relationship, my brother and his wife will probably see a golden wedding anniversary, God willing, and my niece has a very happy marriage, I take comfort from that.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
