Possession can you swap any throws, cushions or lamps from their usual place to another, that will perk up your rooms? Maybe your winter fleecy blankets on the chairs in your sitting room or folded on the end of the beds, or some cheapy crysanths or asters in a vase on your dining table?

That's a good idea, just remembered I have a lovely bedspread that I haven't used for a few years because it was such a faff making it look nice all the time!

The only thing I can remember Possesion is 'Kerb Appeal' from the House Doctor. She says (same as Pooky) sparkly windows & some tubs/baskets of flowers by the front door. Bins disguised/hidden if possible. Drives /paths swept - no rubbish or dead plants lurking! I'm sure yours is already like this though ;) Good Luck hun xx

Haha, well I did clear out some dead plants just today. :rotfl:
The back garden is not so good, lots of empty or weedy pots about, albeit put round the corner. Don't have the money or time to plant them up but I might be able to put a few away in the lean-to.

Possession - set the kids the task of emptying the pots at the weekend and getting them stacked ready to move - one job less to do nearer moving day!

I'm utterly pooped this evening - I was hoping to get the grass cut but it got dark before I found time! Oh well always tomorrow!

Tried the Mr A's lincolnshire veggi sausage mix (dry packet mix) for the first time tonight - wasn't impressed but have a few more packs so need to think of a way to liven them up....I think adding cheese and chilli flakes will help....it'll disguise it if nothing else :)

DD2 is already in bed - first day at college exhausted her. I think I shall make everyone a hot choccy/ovaltine/tea and we can all have an early night.

That spray sounds a good idea Kidcat can you remember what it's called? The house is mostly neutral but in need of redecoration - definitely don't have time to do that though. The carpets are horrible though so might need to hire a carpet cleaner from Morrisons. I know from past experience it doesn't remove the worst marks sadly but it will make a difference. I've got a lot done today (when I'm supposed to be working, ha!) but it feels like there's a world more to do. Onwards and upwards.

this is the one I bought, but there are loads available from pets@home too, a word of warning, you only need a couple of sprays , first time I was enthusiastic when spraying, and the kids in the playhouse outside could smell it!! :)

Oh I see you spray it on the dog!! I thought it went on the carpet, LOL. I think I have some kind of dry shampoo spray I wonder if that would have the same effect.

    Hi.

Glad to hear you making positive plans Possession.
I know what you mean about murky carpets. Just make sure that there are no overhead lights on. Take all the other tips on board and if any viewers look as though they are going to open a cupboard door, smack their hands. That's just so not cricket.

Bet all first day schoolers went out like a light as soon as their heads hit the pillows. After my DS1's first day at school he came home and said no, he didn't like it very much, they hadn't taught him to read and he didn't think he would bother going again. I don't think he changed his mind for the next 11 years.

You must be relieved Lyn. Just scratch the top of the old chap's head for me please.

Well, the house is clean, except for floors and it's not much use doing those till the last minute. Tomorrow is cooking day. Sausage rolls, cheese scones, quiches, peanut cookies, fruit cake, brownies, victoria sponge, bread rolls, lemon drizzle and coffee and walnut cake. The last two are to go round to the church for the tea they are having after the big welcome service on Saturday. Apparently I have been put on the church's 'cake list'. News to me! I cooked a gammon joint today so plenty of ham for slicing and for sandwiches. Just the coleslaw and salad to make early Friday morning and that's it.
I think I am right in saying that I was going to take life easier once I'd moved. I have been known not to be right before.

Oops! There goes my resolution to be in bed by ten every night.

    Good morning

Good luck with the house viewings Possession - seems like you have every angle covered.
Wow monnagran - that list of baked goodies is making my mouth water. Where do you find the energy?! You are an absolute wonder.
Glad to hear Docky's appointment went well.
You probably won't read this now nutty - but hope you have a fab holiday!

I never ever post on here before school run. Kids up before I called them, all ready and so allowed to play on DS10's tablet. All I need to do in a mo if make up 2 rolls and stick them and waters in lunch bags and we are good to go. DS7 is champing at the bit, just hoping he doesn't have wobbles when we get there as he is juniors now and they don't have teachers to coax any wobbly kids in. On the plus side he could walk in with his big year 6 brother now but he will no doubt be strolling in chatting to his mates.

Excited as seeing my mate for a coffee (its been a long time!) and then home to start on chores and start getting back into the swing of things and playing the catchup game.

Have a good day all.... thinking of you all and sending enough hugs to go right round....

Mammoth baking ahead then monnagran. I just hope you can enjoy it and can keep the flustering at bay. You will be able to get a balance of doing/relaxing once you're properly settled in. You have had so long of everyone wanting a lovely big piece of you before you left, your new people needing to have a big wedge and now you have both new and old so you're bound to be busy :D Enjoy it!

It's a slow day for me work wise and I hope it stays that way. I just have to hope that no one has called in sick. My colleagues are the sickliest bunch of folk I have ever met! Again, another issue with zero hours - people don't have to work as much as the company doesn't have to give the work. The problem being in care is that people need you to be working! This system really needs looking at but... because of it I have a job that works for me so I really should moan.

Anyway... chicken with cheese topping, corn on cob and mash for us tonight. We will pack for our weekend away (very excited!) and general tidy of the house. With MIL down we are not relaxing of an evening and it's all catching up with me. I need a bit shut off time. I missed GBBO last night so that is first on the agenda. I think that will be when I iron later ;)

Have as good a day as possible everyone :)
  • Morning all, He Who Knows is out annoying the local carp population today so I've made a huge batch of chutney and the downstairs smells wonderfully fragrant. 7lbs of marrow and apple chutney potted up for the winter can't be bad can it?

After such a promising start the day has gone dull and slightly misty down here but is still warm outside, much warmer inside as I've had to keep the windows closed to keep the wasps out. The apples on the front tree are beginning to drop so Apple Chutney on the cards next when I've enough windfalls. I love this time of year, I know some of us don't like the smell of vinegar in the house but I love to do all the chopping and stirring that goes with chutney and the different dried fruits and spices make cooking feel dedcidedly exotic and then it's lovely to buy a nice piece of cheese from the farmers market for a treat and open up a jar of chutney on a cold winters Sunday afternoon. Small pleasures but nice ones!!!

MONNA consider the doggies head well and truly scritched thank you anna byg ssslluurrrpppppp frum hym!!

FUDDLEY ONE take yourself a break some time during the day, even half an hour to have a coffee and maybe read a book is enough to recharge a depleted battery petal, all work and no play etc.etc.etc. you work hard and long enough to have earned it anyway!!!
