Just been doing some back reading and I have to mention something about the hospital visit.
My hospital only does tours of the L&D units for new Mums.
Basically if you come in as a booked surgery, you start off in one unit where they get you ready for surgery, gown, IV inserted, etc. Then you have surgery and either return to the starting point if you are going home that day, or if you are staying over, you find out what ward you are on when you wake up.
You can't really tour wards because it all has to do with patient privacy and/or confidentiality. When my youngest had his surgery, he was admitted as a pediatric patient but when he returned with complications he was admitted to an adult unit for specialized care. So you don't really know where you are going to be.
I work next to the day surgery unit and they have anywhere from ten to thirty surgeries a day. It's a never ending hive of activity. The staff there simply don't have time to give tours.
I know that sounds callous but it's reality. When I work on the cataract unit, we have several old dears a week stop by and want to have a tour but we do up to 82 surgeries a day and simply can't and the people waiting for their surgery don't want to be stared at either.0 -
Hi toughies
Thought I would post as really quiet on here. Woke up at the crack of dawn, actually some time before dawn by Stripey Cat. Well I was half awake but.... he needed feeding and then letting out. He is not eating well in the heat and a little underweight so if he wants to eat I'm there.
DH came down some hours later to a washing machine spinning, slow cooker on, kitchen presentable, little pile of sewing repairs done and looked bemused. Kids also up v early too. DH has taken boys as promised out to a fave beauty spot whilst I plod on here. All organised for a change except I wanted to go food shopping but DH has taken the car out. I will be inventive with what we have in and just get milk and any essentials at the local shops - more expensive but still cheaper than taking boys to a supermarket and a lot less hassle in the heat with them moaning. Big shop can wait til I feel like it one eve or might stretch to next weekend.
Having a well deserved cuppa and off for a sneaky lie down, hope they don't come back early and wake me up. Going to have some family time late, hopefully more decluttering (still in the mood) and this eve looking forward to a rare prog just for me - new series of the mill.
take care everyone, check back later in case anyone needs a friendly ear or has a funny story to post.....

SQ - you're sounding a lot more upbeat lately, it's lovely to read. I hope you get your lie down in peace.
It's thick sea fog here so no washing has been able to go out - got the men here tomorrow repointing the back so no washing out then either - shall have to bung it all on airers and pop the dehumidifier going.
Popped into Mr A's for some groceries this morning and they had lots of clothes and jimjams etc in the sale - managed to get some for DD's to put away for christmas - luckily a friend called in yesterday with lots of local organic meats for us from her farmers market friends (they barter at the end of the day and she'd ended up with loads of meat this time round) - we had some black pepper sausages last night and they were delish - saved me a fortune this week as I've not had to buy any meat at all.
DD1 facetimed us from France earlier - she was showing us around the village square - it looks beautiful.....they had a big storm last night and all the power went off in the village (still off today) and they have no mains water so it really is an adventure. They hadn't figured that shops would be closed on a sunday so they're off with empty water bottles to knock on a few doors to see if anyone can be kind enough to fill them....luckily 2 of the group are fluent in French or I can imagine there'd be a lot of flappy hand gestures.
Gammon hock (free) in the SC, some will go in tonights cheesy pasta bake, some will be used tomorrow with egg and chips. Yum yum!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Hi everyone still reading and catching up. I am feeling very very low and think I will ring my gp in morning to see if I can book an app with him, although I will have to wait a while, as he will be busy, so I understand. I am also nearly round the bend with Microsoft unbelieveable problems this past few days with them. I have posted on the techie site and perhaps someone can help me there. The weather here is warm and clammy and we have had rain which the garden badly needs. It is looking better now plenty of colour and the grass is nicely cut.. Hope you all have a nice day love Margaret xxDo a little kindness every day.;)0

...They had two special assemblies last week, and then the end of week celebratory assembly was also turned over to it too. I think its too much for such young children, and is bordering on hysteria. Its being heavily driven by the parents group I had issues with and the head seems unwilling to stand up and say no.
I admit I am still upset shocked and lost, however I am doing my very best to keep things as normal for my family.
Am I being harsh? ...
No, i don't think so - personally I think that is too much for young children too.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

thanks Pooky - didn't realise I was sounding downbeat (or whatever the opposite of upbeat is!) - hope I haven't been moaning too much on here. I guess I am feeling more :j because the kids are off school now, DH has finished his exams (unless any resits but unlikely) and my back is finally back to normal so no pain and I can get stuff done! Physical and mental health in reasonable shape - feeling very fortunate after typing this paragraph. Oh and we have our very cheap and very cheerful holiday to look forward to next month.
:):)
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Margaret love)))))))))))))))))))) hope you feel less down soon. here if you need an ear, be kind to yourself and definitely get yourself a GP appointment asap.
Managed a tiny lie down, more resting than sleeping but lovely to just relax with no back pain. Bliss.... My boys just missed the thunder, lightning and torrential rain as did the laundry.
Lasagne in the oven for an early dinner ready soon as boys didn't get a proper lunch (DH took them out and wouldn't take a picnic but relented to drinks and snacks...men!!) My tummy is rumbling too. Had a couple of OS QS to ask but cannot remember what they were, hopefully come to me later.
what has everyone else been up to today?

MARGARET we're here for you too pet, we're always here for you and you've never moaned or anything like it so tell us if we can do anything to cheer you up, help with the burdens of life or just be daft enough to make you smile. We'll do all these and much more willingly because you're our friend and we care!!!
SQ you're sounding chirpy again, and it's lovely to see, it says you're enjoying life again and the pressure is eased by the holidays, long may it continue pet, long may it continue.
Now MAR may have a point in that Jelly Babies make you better from an awful lot of malaises and definately make you smile when you open the packet so, I would reccommend an experiment in that if any of us are feeling out of sorts or down in the dumps or stressed it would be a very good thing to go to the sweetie shop and buy a medicinal packet of Jelly Babies, I believe the correct dosage is a minimum of 6 a day but there is no upper limit, good luck, Lyn xxx.0
