FUDDLE tried to send you a PM but don't think it is going to arrive. Had such a lovely time with the Zebra child who is lots of fun. He loves 'walking' i.e I balance him by a hand under each arm and he walks and giggles, he can take his full weight and while we were playing I watched him learn how to bend forward and pick up a toy, his little hands were clenching and unclenching and I could see him working out how far down he had to be to pick up his hippo, amazing stuff. He's so chatty too and full of smiles, only gets grumpy if he's hungry or really tired and won't give in and go to sleep.
We had a rotten night with the Lurcha who was so upset that he spent most of the night trying to dig his way out of the front door, I couldn't hear thunder but his hearing is so much more sensitive than mine so who knows? I stayed down with him until 4 am and then He Who Knows took over and got back to bed by 5.30 when the Dockling decided to join us on his blanket and actually sleep a bit, didn't wake up until 7.45 but still feel jaded. Hopefully we'll miss the worst of the weather tonight, we'll see!!! I'm off to meet Charlie retriever and his Mum for afternoon walkies in a few minutes and I hope we get round in the dry, it's so sticky out there today it's uncomfortable, roll on cooler weather!!!0 -
Poor Docky, our collie suffers with thunder storms but luckily we've hardly had any only downpours and humidity here. I hope you all have a better night tonight.
We've been given a free greenhouse which we have been to collect today. DH decided it would be easier to take in all in one without dismantling so if you want to see the pics it's on my homepage if you fancy a laugh.
I've got loads to do but it's far too muggy.
Hope your all having a lovely weekend

PIC - What a fab way to move a greenhouse!! I like free things too.
The brush you have for cleaning your bricks - they do them in home barg-ains (if you have one nearby) for £1 - we're on our 2nd this summer but at that price I'm happy to chuck the end away when the wires start falling out, the poles are always handy.
DD1 got to the place they were staying, safely. I don't think any of them are still talking to each other - 12 hours travelling in this heat will do that do you. They've got no mains water until the plumber comes to turn it on - but he's away for the weekend so it won't be for a while......they've brought lots of bottled water and will have to make do.
Looks like we're in for another storm - it's really dark and the wind is picking up. Hope this sticky humid weather goes before Monday - we're having the back of the house repointed and I've got to have all the windows and doors closed whilst they grind out the old mortar - it's going to be dusty, noisy and sticky."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. SILVASAVA...So sorry to hear about your son , how terrible for you all, and I hope he makes a good recovery from it, terrible at such a young age .....

SilvaSava, one day at a time and many good vibes being sent your families way.
Our storm hit around 0400 today. Just lashings of rain. The good thing is the layers of smoke are being washed away. It's still deemed poor air quality but you can't see it and smell it.
The husband is settling into retirement. He seems content. We decided this would be his "gap" year for tax reasons. If he picked up a small part time job everything would go to the tax man due to his severance package and pension. I figure after 40+years of serving his Queen and country he can lounge around for a while.
Now has anyone used leftover salmon in fishcakes?0 -
silvasava ((hugs)) sending my thoughts and prayers to your family
WC - hope you are coping with the fires and that your migraine has settled, please stay safe. ANd yes I have used salmon in fishcakes
nutty - your post today sounds so full of energy and hope well done
Monna - get packing!!!
Cornish chick - hope your BBQ went well, its wonderful that you are doing these things again
SQ - small steps lead to big changes, keep going you will get there
pooky - well done DD for successfully getting there, I have to say I would be daunted by driving abroad even now
Mrs LW - hope you have a better night tonight, thankfully my crowd all slept through the whole storm.
PIC - I like the idea of moving the greenhouse whole, love the blog pics, was rather tickled by the realisation that the houses in the picture look as if they are the twins to our estate
I am sure I have forgotten someone and I do apologise, I am finding less and less time free to reply at the moment, so am not responding in real time.
Its been incredibly busy here, I kept DS10 off school yesterday, he was complaining of tummy ache, which I knew was stress related, school has been a very sombre and dark place this week. And whilst he is sad at losing someone he cannot fully understand why life is not going on as it should. So I kept him off and he was able to come along to DD8 sports day and just relax.
Next week is going to be very hard on him, we have the funeral Monday, which school are running hymns in the hall while some staff attend, followed by the end of term church service Tues, this has been reworked to be a memorial instead. Followed by balloon release then school assembly.
They had two special assemblies last week, and then the end of week celebratory assembly was also turned over to it too. I think its too much for such young children, and is bordering on hysteria. Its being heavily driven by the parents group I had issues with and the head seems unwilling to stand up and say no.
I admit I am still upset shocked and lost, however I am doing my very best to keep things as normal for my family.
Am I being harsh?
Sorry for the moan, I do have positive stuff to report too, yesterday we collected a car for DD19, she has paid for the car and insurance herself, and I think she is definitely more motivated to pass her test.
The little car is tiny and old but has low mileage and is in lovely condition, she needs a few little bits sorting which will be done this week. She has brightened up the whole house as the kids were so excited, there was laughter and smiles properly for the first time in a week.
I now feel ready to face the week including the funeral with a composed and serene mood.0 -
She: Is it only this year I've been packing? Funny that, it seems much longer. As to how much stuff we have....you wouldn't beeeeleeeeve it. It doesn't help that my weight varies wildly and I have to have clothes in every size I may or may not hit during a year. I'm in the biggest size I have at the moment - pause for noisy sobs - so all the really nice clothes are vacuum packed. I have worked out a timetable and if we work solidly for about 16 hours a day we should be ready to move on Aug 5th. Such a shame that removers, ferries, B&B etc are all booked for July 28th.
It's like a sauna here today and I wish I could sweat, I'm sure I would feel cooler. As it is I just boil away inside.
Silva: Sorry, I got all the dates muddled up, my head is like scrambled egg atm. I hope things seem a bit better this week and you are able to relax a bit.

Kidcat: I agree. Young children must be given a chance to grieve and say their goodbyes, but the school seem to not realise that making such a prolonged and intensive mourning period may be fine for the adults (although some seem to be wallowing in it) but will be very worrying for the children. I will be thinking of you on Monday, it will be very hard for you.
Well done your DD on getting her car. Independence and freedom, what a heady mixture but she deserves it for doing it all herself. Good girl!

Evening all
Silva - virtual hugs and healing thoughts coming your way.
Monna - stop reading and get packing!! Seriously, hope you are doing ok and it does all come together in the end. Know what you mean about the well meaning offers of help being more hinder than help, could you manage to turn them into regular tea and grub providers though?
Kidcat, oh hun - I'd love to be able to help in some way, you are having it rough aren't you? I, for one, don't think you are being harsh - that is too much for primary aged kids let alone you lovely little lad - when I was at secondary school we lost a much loved teacher (to leukaemia, so expected) and also a very popular 6th former who ran loads of clubs for the younger girls (meningitis, so very sudden and completely unexpected) and even though we were older it was marked with respect not overdone and TBH more would have been too much.
DD finished school yesterday - can't believe our little girl has finished her first full year at school! The next week will be mostly quiet and time to recuperate before we get down to the important business of really enjoying the school hols. Take care all - X0
