    Morning all :D
I'm so pleased they seem to have fixed my smilies problem :j:j
Kidcat I checked our packing lists and have some bits for you to add..

Slippers/flipflops for yourself, my feet always swell up and I never usually have this problem not sure why it always happens when DS2 is in

Pen/notepad they always tell you something you can't remember afterwards

Kitchen roll and babywipes, wipes are a godsend in sticky wards and for cleaning up and I take the roll out of the paper towel and flatten it into a ziplock bag,I also take a few of these as they come in very handy.

Depending how long your stay is and what he's having done I take toothwipes that pop on your finger great for freshening them up after the anaesthetic or if unable to sit up to brush.

A gussetted drinks bottle is a godsend lucozade sport bottles are brill,no spills no matter which way up they are..much better than straws.

    Headache pills (!!)

Chargers for techie bits although if on kids ward they usually have these.

I usually have my BOB with me too so have a multitude of stuff in there 'just in case' lol.

If you are in the accomodation block all hospitals are different,Stanmore have a shared kitchen etc but just provide you a bed and towels, the Brompton you get a little welcome pack, kettle in your room fridge etc should be some infor on the hospitals website.

Terrible they wouldn't let him have a walk round they're usually very good but we found StGeorges a nightmare when DS3 was in there..not ASD friendly at all XX

Kidcat: I'm probably too late being somewhat preoccupied atm but hope all goes well. It's the bit beforehand when you are not sure what to expect that is the worst.

    Gotta go!

hi all, had a really busy day yesterday. Did the first day of my training course, and it went ok ish.... The tutor called me back to check I was ok, and to remind me that I can do it. I have to believe in myself.

Today I had my first session with the hypnotherapist, it was more a talking, me crying and him assuring me I am ok. I understand that although I care for others I need to care for myself more. I need to have some more time for myself and to put myself in front of others. my husband called earlier and I broke down crying. He assures me he loves me for being me, but I explained I need to talk. I am still grieving for my dad and for our dog too. Just typing this brings it all to the open. The tears appear again, so I know I need to talk about it.
SO my long journey beings!!! Everything is ok to feel and it will all be ok in the end, I just need to forgive myself.
Well I have to leave for work, take care everyone x

Kidkat - is this for the NUS surgery? I've no suggestions really aside from plenty of change and maybe a bottle of squash if you drink it with a plastic cup so at least you can keep yourself hydrated without paying hospital prices.

Blummin' hot here. Running a little low on energy reserves as we were awake until the small hours as our over the road neighbour passed away - there was a lot of police/ambulance/doctor and undertaker activity. Feel a bit clueless as to whether we should pop over and speak to the wife or not - they were very reclusive and hated speaking to anyone. I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable but I'd like to let her know we're here if she needs help. I'm thinking maybe a card through the door tomorrow would be best. Lots of coming and going by various agencies collecting medical equipment, poor woman probably just wants a bit of peace and quiet.

Last nights pasta bake leftovers for lunch and something simple for dinner - I'm not putting the oven on.....boiled eggs, salad and bread and butter I think.

(((((((((((((nutty))))))))))))) you have taken an important step today, well done, be kind to yourself and we are here if/when you need to talk or just need a hug

Pooky - I would def drop a card through, its very early days. Maybe a bag of something for lunch or breakfast can be useful when people can't think what to eat and if she is reclusive might struggle to leave the house? You could put a sticky note on outside of the card card and say you will leave it on her doorstep/porch at x time later in the day so she can pick it up??

Nutty take care and remember we're all here while you take your journey x

After yesterdays filling and tooth extraction I think it was a totally different one causing all the pain. I'm in agony today and can hardly tell where abouts the pains coming from. Can't concentrate so just a quick pop in to see how your all doing

Nuttyp well done on taking that first step, the journey will be worthwhile even if it seems a struggle at times. Be kind to you; you can't hope to look after everyone else when you are so drained. Take care xx

pic I hope you are feeling more comfortable soon - teeth are a pain (quite literally!).

Very humid here tonight, a hot day and hotter still forecast tomorrow. I've got a few days leave but spent most of today flat out trying to sleep off some undefined lurgy and the heat doesn't help. Oh well, no doubt we soon be moaning about rain and cold.

    Take care all xx
  • Just had the most amazing storm go over us, thunder and lightning, fantastic, I sat with my lights off, slightly smug that all my solar lights were charged and a flask of hot water prepped , but the electric stayed on. Still enjoyed nature showing off,
nutty Hugs and take a few minutes for your self, I like to stand in the garden with a morning cuppa and just breath .. During the thought and hard times of recent months I found thus helps ground me.. Iykwim.
pic have you tried a warm hot water bottle? It might help. Hope it's sorted soon.

Ok every one pray for sunshine in Cornwall on Saturday I have organised a bbq for cancer research. I am dreading the social aspect of it as it's my first solo event since DH passed away, but it has spurred me on to actually do some house work and cleaning.
And if it's wet, well we will just have to have a party instead .

Hope you are doing well and it's good to read that your summers are going well.

The smoke from the forest fires has been terrible. Yesterday when I stepped out at lunch, I could smell it and see it. My first thought was that burger bus was burning everything and then I realized it was the fires. My car had fine ash on it this morning and by 0900 the sky was black. The thunder and lightening started then and so did a migraine. Had to call home and luckily one son and the husband were home so I didn't have to leave the car at work. Nobody wants the nurse that keeps running off to vomit. It's been almost 2.5 years since I had one so bad. Even the husband said I looked like death warmed over. Light and smell sensitive, I think the smell of a coworkers coconut yogurt was the final straw.

So I came home and lost four hours to sleep. Feeling human now.

The thought of supper is not happening. I think it might be the night for the "emergency fund" to pay for a take a way.

Do you have an emergency fund jar? Over here we pay a deposit on all drinks containers and then take them back to central depots to get our cash back. Keeps the street clean. The cash adds up quickly. You don't notice the extra ten cents on a can of cola but when you have sack of empties, it quickly adds up. So I keep mine for emergency funds for take aways or at the end of the year I put it towards the Christmas expenses.

WonderCollie is sleeping now, because the thunder and lightening takes it out of him.
