D&DD is the visit the one to discuss whether you will be paid the money or whether to pay it to your DS directly? It sounds like the visit we had a while back, we have also had letters warning us PIP is coming but when I call they say its not being rolled out in our area yet for post 16.

fuddle - I freeze dishes with cooked celery in and its fine, uncooked I would give it a go but would think it will go more soggy so maybe add less water when you come to use it in a dish.

Kidcat as I understand it yes the Friday visit is for me to be named appointee for him (had a similar visit for DS2) what has confused me though is the previous letter asking him if he will be applying for PIP or not (this came after the letter about the changes) so I think he may be having his renewal done as PIP,maybe they want to start early if its taking them so long to renew claims,I dunno??

Fuddle, I wouldn't freeze raw celery, the water content is too high and it will defrost to mush.

I learnt that at school in domestic science over 30 years ago and have never had to share that nugget of information until now!!

Ah right. The appointee visit will be very simple and quick she didn't give us any more info just chatted with DS for a few minutes. He told her if he had lots of money he would buy lots of cats. She signed his form in seconds!
You may be right they may be renewing at PIP so will start early but realistically until they send the forms you can't do anything. Lots of people are being told they will be swapping to PIP but the reality is they are all still waiting. It's a right muck up.

I am trying to get DS16 bag started for his hospital visit next week. Have ordered some more pj's for him and have a toiletries bag set. He will obviously pack his electronic stuff himself. The question is what I should be packing for me. I am going to be very bored with nothing to do.

Kidcat pack some lipsalve and moisturiser for your hands and face as the hospital atmosphere dries you out like a prune lol
I always take books/kindle but rarely read them ,you can download the kindle app for free and you can get quite a few free books if you do want to.
Does the hospital have free wifi? I know I enjoyed reading everyones news on here last time DS2 was in :D
Lots of munchies,I don't stop nibbling usually.

I honestly don't know DDD I called to ask to take Ds for a visit to prepare him and they acted like I asked them to fly to the moon. Am still waiting on a call back.
Thanks for the lip salve and hand cream reminder I do struggle with the warm air.

Surely they are aware that he would be more comfortable having been on the ward to familiarise himself? He can't have been the first person to need that preparation?

Why not take some needlework - crochet/knitting/sewing (even hems & nametags!) to occupy you? Or a notebook to write your dreams & aspirations for your family (including you!)? You never know, having some relatively "still" time may result in a more chilled Kidcat - you can't do everything you normally do because you will be away of your home supporting your son. Hope he is not getting too apprehensive about it xx

Really quick visit as shattered but kidcat , check to see if your hospital had a LD nurse, they can meet you and have specialist training to help anyone with a limited understanding, we use ours a lot for the supported people I work with, they can liaise with you both and the ward. Hope that helps.

Ohh yes I have free electric for a few weeks:j my meter is jammed and I reported it, they can't get out to fix it till 11 august, inquired if I was going to be charged for my electric in some why but was told no, they will put my new meter in and start from there because I give monthly readings. :j so all good.
