Glad to hear the scans went ok Sheila, but so sorry you're feeling so rotten atm, depression is horrible I know. (((HUGS)))

Quite forgot to say Hello and welcome to nursemaggie! Sorry :o Lovely to have you with us, and I'm so glad you're enjoying knitting again :) I used to knit quite a bit when I was younger but stopped when my fingers got painful - its to do with the unorthodox way I hold knitting needles, I think. I was not that good at stitching the pieces together really neatly either :D

Shegar ((hugs)) am so glad it went well today and I hope it moves things quickly forward for you now as well, which hopefully will make things easier for you. My advice is to call your GP again tomorrow - you need to be seen earlier. Its very common for carers to suffer once their caree has moved into a residential setting, add in your health issues and your needing more meds is understandable, however you shouldnt have to wait that long to get the support and help you need.

MRSLW - glad HWK is ok today, I would definitely have panicked and called an ambulance, which would have made me look a total moron :)

Ivy - good luck with the visit, I have a friend who is exactly as you describe, I am now known for interesting interventions as the beginning of a rant, most times if i am good I can distract her. So we have had the standing up and loudly shouting OMG I have left the front door open lunch! Parking the car near enough to hear and setting off the alarm worked quite well twice as well. The slightly more drastic knocking over a drink distracted her beautifully but it wasnt good for my shoes :)

Monna - I found towards the end of packing I lost interest and momentum and ended up throwing things in anyhow - surprisingly it wasnt any worse unpacking those boxes the other end :)

Possession - oh my how hard for you, all I can say is that you have made a brave and loving choice to give Lottie a chance at a home more appropriate to her needs, rather than cage her or keep her locked away. well done on making such a brave choice ((hugs))

Its been a very long week here, and once again today I burst into tears at school. I have been so stressed and worried about DS10 that I think I am drowning under it all.
I am literally counting days until school finishes for the year and I can relax again.
OH is working so many hours and things in the house are backing up, gardens are overgrown etc.

...I must try to persuade him to take out an online subscription to something like The Independent, I think, though he will probably say he will, then forget all about it.

    Thanks again. x

Has he got a birthday coming up? Maybe you & his family could club together?

Possession I have just re-read and found that you have had to make that very difficult decision about Lottie. When I lost Alf that way I was utterly devastated. It was the right decision for the circumstances but that doesn't help ease the hurt does it? Sorry P :( x

:D:D thanks , this made me smile. I'm not sure saying I've left the front door open would work, as he would get himself into a terrible state and insist we go home immediately to lock the door! I like the idea of the car alarm though!

He has been fussing by email as to whether we've booked somewhere for lunch yet, and can't see that it is really not up to him to worry about whether it's been booked or not. I had to tell him that when it's booked I'll let him know, and that if we can't find anywhere to accommodate a group at lunchtime we'll have lunch just the five of us (him, sis-in-law, me, OH and DS) and see the rest of the family afterwards.
I probably came across a bit stroppy :o but because he gets so anxious he starts trying to control everything so that he knows exactly what's going to happen and when (and I know you know what that's like!)

Oh love, I'm so sorry you're struggling :( At least it's not long until the end of term. Is this school the only one DS10 can go to? It doesn't sound as if they have a clue. I'm so cross that your OH is so unhelpful, but it does sound as if he sort of can't help it (most of the time anyway) (((HUGS)))

Thank you Floss, nice thought but we couldn't afford it unfortunately, we're all a bit strapped for cash these days :) Come to think of it I don't expect brother could afford it either!
  • Hope you don't mind me posting this but thought it might be useful to you.

In the Sun newspaper today (England only, Scotland has a different offer) there is a voucher for £5 worth of free fruit and veg with no minimum spend at Morrisons.
  • Thanks for that MOS - I've just run out of fresh fruit.
Can any of you wise OS'ers advise me please? I've discovered some blue stilton cheese in my freezer which must have been there at least 18 months. It is wrapped in tin foil but will it be safe to eat or should I just chuck it?
    Thanks

AOT EAT IT!!! want any help???

He Who Knows is up and running again, thank you all for being so kind, we've measured blood pressure for him and if anything it's a little lower than is normal for him and he has low blood pressure anyway. If it happens again I'll make certain that we get him an MOT straight away. My lovely GP agreed yesterday that mine would probably be off the scale so we didn't bother but I'd been taking random readings since my last check and she's decided to throw in another pill to try to fix me!!! I'm also going to have a kidney function blood test so all in hand. She's such a poppet, told me that they keep a shotgun in the cupboard for when all else fails, but was very reluctant to use it as it usually upset all the patients waiting in the waiting room, so would I mind another pill instead? It makes going to the surgery a lot less stressful when you know there is a ready sense of humour waiting to sort you out!!!

I'm sitting here wih my arms resting on hundreds of knitting needles. I sort a few out every time my computer freezes. I'd no idea I had so many!

PIC: re: stepsons. I have a friend who has her 13 yearold grandaughter living with her and has a similar situation with regard to contact with mother. The court decreed that the child should spend a good part of every school holiday with her mother and the child HATES it. The mother lives a very social life and the girl is left in the flat for a lot of the time or is dragged around shopping or whatever else the mother is doing. She just wants to be at home and with her friends but mother is adamant that it is her right to have to have her for school holidays and have her she will. The courts obviously try to be fair to everyone but it doesn't always work out in practice.

Lyn: I think the doc should put you and HWK in a bag and shake you up. You might emerge with with a reasonable BP between you.

Ivy: Where else would you let it all out if not on here. This is what the thread is all about - thank goodness for these kind virtual friends. We do have a date, July 28th, by which time I will be a gibbering wreck.

nursemaggie: let me assure you that there is absolutely no chance of me throwing too much away. In fact I can see us taking up Kidcats suggestion and just ending up throwing everything in. Only problem with that is we might need another removal van.

Sheila: I don't know how you get from day to day, petal. I would be in that doctors sobbing on a daily basis. So wish that I could say or do something that would help you but all we can do is listen and love you. It seems so inadequate - sorry.

Kidcat: Not much longer for poor DS. It does seem that something has gone very wrong for him to be in such a state. You are another one who deserves a fanfare and quick burst of the Hallelujah Chorus every time you get up to face another day. You seem operate as a one-parent family. Where do you find your support? Wish we could do more.

Fuddle: You should keep your mouth shut, shouldn't you. Couple of magazines on their way to you. By the way, we're taking the pigeon with us.
No-one will have a clue what we are talking about, but in my magazine I have a piece every month from our resident pigeon who posts his opinion on whatever has been going on in the church.
Over the last four years there has been a lot of conjecture about who the pigeon might be. I'm not telling.;)

I now have groovy arms where the knitting needles have been pressing. That's groovy as in dents, not groovy as in groovy IYSWIM.
